The Commercial Bar & Hotel

The staff were excellent and very welcoming, the room was easy to access, and the location of the bar was perfect. It's a little hidden away from the road, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the alleyway that takes you to the courtyard. The room was nice and spacious with a double sinked bathroom along with a bath and shower. The room was clean and well kept, and check out was easy. Although we were prior warned about noise, this didn't affect us as we were staying mid week. The only noise was the beer delivery in the morning, but we were awake by then anyway.

To be nit picky the room needed some TLC e.g paint was peeling off the walls in the bathroom and the shower temperature wouldn't change no matter how far over to cold it was. The mattress has a visible dip both sides but was comfortable non the less. The carpets leading upstairs are very well worn and have the usual old pub grime to them but this didn't take away anything. The only real gripe was a few of the plug sockets didn't actually fit a normal plug as they where too small so the lovely vanity area with a seat and mirror were a bit pointless.

The hotel is tucked away behind the Rows, which allowed for a really nice get away experience, and was very quiet despite being in the city centre. It was much cleaner than expected, and offered a lovely view of the courtyard. The room was also much larger than expected and had a lot of amenities that we did not expect.

The window was hard to open and close, and when doing so it felt as though the window were going to break. The decor felt somewhat dated, and felt more like we were staying at a family members house than at a hotel, although this is not necessarily an issue, it made us feel somewhat awkward.

the room was amazing. perfectly clean and huge!! there were 3 massive sized rooms being a bathroom with deep bath and separate large shower with jets. double sink and perfect toiletries on offer and lots of fluffy towels. the lounge room was well set up with a sofa bed and large tv. nice biscuit selection too. the bedroom was spacious with storage and nice lighting options. the bed was comfy with lots of pillows so you could select how many you need without asking for more.

nothing. it was a hot day and management had pre opened the windows to cool the room which was a nice gesture

Stayed for 2cnights. Very accommodating bar staff. Breakfasts were lovely. We knew it was going to busy/ loud from reading the reviews and think most of Chester wanted to celebrate the bank holiday weekend in the courtyard at The Commercial and then in the disco inside until 2am. Basically, if you're looking for a busy, fun environment full of folk wanting a good time, then The Commercial is the place for you. If you prefer a bit of peace and quiet, then it's probably not for you. But we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thanks for a memorable weekend!!

Couldn't fault it in all honesty. The music and crowds might put certain people off, but not us!

Great location we were warned about the noise and we're expecting it..... to be fair the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing when we git back to hotel seemed like hundreds of people dancing and partying to live a DJ who playing the kind of music you don't mind loud. Defo stay here again when visiting Cheshire. A really popular spot.

great room, great staff… just keep in mind if you are to stay here no sleep will be happening until after 2am as the music is so loud all night.. nothing on the booking site about this was told once we had check it that ot would get a bit loud in the evening… a bit loud… wow vengaboys blasting crazy bass through our room at 2am… like i say great staff awesome room… just no sleep until 2am.. and check out by 11… so 6 hours sleep is probably the max.

Great location in city center our room overlooked the courtyard where there was a disco on Friday Saturday and Sunday night till 2am so if your looking for a quiet night don't stay here we actually loved it, David the chap who manages it was always there very friendly and helpful.

Bathroom was exceptional, especially the shower that made me feel as though I’d stepped into a car wash. Central location made it easy to walk out to locations in any direction.

I think I stayed on disco night, and even though there’s a church next door, the disco blasted away until after midnight. Bed was not level. Head end sloped downward.

Lots of character. Super central location. The guys Cavan, Daniel and David were amazingly kind to me and understanding, as I was very unwell due to a medical condition and the hottest few days in 100 years.

Due to an electrical supply update elsewhere in the building, the ceiling lights not operational at the time of my stay. But plenty of plug in lighting provided. So a none issue really only mentioned for the sake of full disclosure.

The hotel was worth more than we paid, we got a suite for £108 for 2 nights, way better than we expected for tge price! Staff were fab, didn't have breakfast included but didn't want breakfast anyway, eat late morning.
