The rooms were much larger than I expected with a huge window that let in lots of light. There was also a sofa and TV and the customary kettle, etc. It was very clean and the bed was quite comfy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Pub had lots of space outside with its own pods. It was really nice to sit out in the garden and have dinner. I would stay again.

Extend the check out time until 12, or at least 11. 10 is too early for some visitors. Most hotels, etc., have at least until 11 and when I asked to extend the check out time to 12, I was told there would be an additional £20. If you won't change the checkout time then charge less, like £5-7 but not more than half the actual cost of the room for a night.

Dont know if it was the 4hr drive or 8hrs at the zoo but i slept from 8pm to 7am!! It was so comfortable! Food was lovely (as was the cocktails), i was made to feel so welcome straight away. Exceptionally clean!! Beautiful room. I also asked if it was possible for a room with a bath for my 4yr old daughter, i booked a double room and got a huge triple room with bath! So thank you!

Other reviews mentioned the noise from being on a main road, this is true however we had the best sleep and didnt bother us at all. We had a great stay and possibly the best nights sleep ive had in a long time.

We've just returned from a really lovely three day break in Chester and stayed for two nights in this delightful hotel/pub. The room was large and very comfortable, scrupulously clean with some very nice features, such as the iron fireplace and high ceiling. The bathroom was a good size and there was a powerful shower with plenty of hot water. WiFi reception in the room was excellent. We had two breakfasts and evening meals downstairs in the dining area and I loved the decor, which was very stylish and suited the property. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the meals were absolutely delicious and freshly prepared and we enjoyed them very much. The property is on a fairly busy main road (we did have a problem spotting it in the dark when we first arrived) but once we identified where it was, we had no trouble finding it again. We used the Park and Ride on the owner's suggestion, which was a very quick and regular service into the centre of Chester. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel/ pub and will certainly stay there again if we visit Chester in the future.

Nothing to dislike.

One of the cleanest rooms I've ever stayed in - many congratulations to the cleaning team! This unpretentious little place, basically a roadside pub with rooms, was excellent value for money, and really convenient for what I needed. It's about five minutes drive from Chester city, with an efficient Park and Ride a couple of miles away as well, which I used the following day. Ample parking on site, a very cheap petrol station next door. There were options for meals and drinks (which I didn't need on this trip). Very comfortable bed and the staff I met were friendly and helpful.

Two minor points for other travellers: I asked for a quiet room as I had some work to do, and was put at the rear on the top floor, which was fine for me but the two flights of fairly steep steps may have caused problems for some. The over-bath shower worked well but was a bit cramped, as I'm tall, but would have been fine for smaller people. That said, these small points would certainly not prevent me from staying here again.

Staff couldn't do enough for you, food lovely and plenty of it. Free parking and ample for well over enough to cater for many vehicles. Central for sightseeing. Room absolutely spotless and daily housemaids.cant wait to go back 😊👍

Absolutely beautiful, snowing after we arrived but loved everything about it. Staff couldn't do enough for you and always around to help. Breakfast and meals delicious but felt ABIT guilty as we couldn't finish it all as big meals. Went into Llandudno and walked around the cathedral wall, also visited the cathedral too, well worth a visit ( I won't spoil the surprise for you). Scenic views beautiful and added bonus of taking plenty photos in the snow. You won't be disappointed staying at this lovely hotel, added bonus it's central for visiting Wales, Chester zoo We are going back to stay sometime in the very near future. Can't wait!!

Lovely scenic view from our back window. Everything was very clean. Quaint eating area inside. There were wigwams and outdoor areas to sit in. We would of used these if the weather was better and if they served food later. Perfect location to see all of Chester.

The pub stopped serving food at 6pm and shut at 8pm. This was a real shame. When we returned from a day out, we had to eat elsewhere. Also after going out for a meal, we weren't able to have a drink at the pub. One of the reasons I booked, was so my husband could have a drink and wouldn't have to drive. Some road noise, if your room was at the front. Both my husband and I are tall. The bed was abit short and the shower above bath was a tight squeeze.

Conveniently located for a trip to Chester, only a few minutes away from Boughton Heath Park & Ride, plenty of free parking space available on the premises. Staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The double room we were given was on the smaller side but perfectly adequate for a night's stay; it was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. Should you wish to dine at the Rowton Poplars, which we recommend, be sure to arrive well before 8pm.

Traffic noise from the busy A41 can be a bit of a problem if your room faces the road and you're a light sleeper, especially during morning rush hour. Earplugs are provided though.

Sparkling clean, attention to the details, which you can see, only in five star hotels. Really tasty food in the cosy restaurant. Free Wi-Fi and parking space for all hotel’s guests. Staff was very helpful and polite.

Second week of my stay price was unreachable high for me. Don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining the market is market, but this was one of the last beautiful hotels which we as a workers working away from home could afford. just a bit disappointed The price on the second week exceed our lodge allowance so I couldn’t stay in this lovely hotel.

it’s comfortable, affordable accommodation near to Chester. The staff are caring, friendly and efficient. The food is a good standard, rooms comfortable and excellent value for money. Triple rooms are offered which adds to the attraction as we were a party of 5 adults and therefore only needed 2 rooms

We have previously stayed in rooms on the first floor. on this occasion we were on the top floor. These rooms are a little cramped due to the eaves and they are affected a bit more by the traffic passing. On our next visit we will request rooms on the first floor. The bath towels provided could be a little bigger but that’s a minor point.

The food in the hotel was exceptional. Great choice of food. We enjoyed all our breakfasts and evening meals. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all very helpful. The chef went out of his way to meet a request for breakfast. The location of the hotel was ideal for visiting Chester and the surrounding area.

The radiator in our room wasn't working but the housekeeper kindly brought an electric heater for us to use. Our room was on the 2nd floor which involved climbing two flights of stairs. I have arthritis so found climbing them a bit uncomfortable. If returning to the area I would stay again but try to book a room on a lower floor. Not a huge deal but could have done with more than 4 coat hangers for two people staying for 4 nights.
