Purchases Restaurant & Accommodation

Location is great right in the middle of the high street close to bars and restaurants. Parking was easy only a two minute walk away from hotel. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Room was beautifully decorated, great size and comfy bed! Lovely garden which we sat in for both drinks of an evening and breakfast. We also had dinner one night which was lovely and especially liked our happy anniversary sorbet!

We had issues with no hot water on most of the days we stayed. Feature bath in the room but couldn’t use it as the water was too cold to bathe in. Would have preferred more choice for breakfast but understand why a smaller option due to only having a few guests staying.

A fabulous stay from the moment we arrived. Met by a very helpful young man at reception who was friendly and courteous and did me the courtesy of carrying our case up to our room. All the staff were friendly, breakfast was exceptional and had a good chat with the manager Paul, who was again very friendly, helpful and professional. Fabulous visit and would definitely stay again.

Their is a bit of noise late at night due to a pub being right opposite and our room overlooked it but that isn't the hotels fault.

What a find! A lovely georgian townhouse perfectly located in the middle of Chichester, worth visiting for the stunning Grade 1 listed staircase alone. The spotlessly clean room was really well thought out and full of easily overlooked little touches which all go towards making a stay run smoothly: plenty of sockets, for example, and I liked the fact that the eco bathroom products weren't screwed to the wall, too, as it adds to the feeling of generosity of spirit. We had a great meal on the first night and a substantial breakfast the following morning. The staff too were a delight, with Paul, Kerry and Charlotte all making us feel truly welcome.

My only tiny personal gripe is that I prefer a little more choice at breakfast as I don't usually have a cooked one, preferring fruit, yogurt, breads and cereals, but we knew the menu in advance so not really an issue.

We stayed at Purchases as we had a wedding to attend near by and it was great! It's in the town centre so very easy access to shops etc. The food was excellent!! We had a dinner and 2 breakfasts during our stay and not only was it filling it was delicious! Very clean room and bathroom with a TV and coffee machine. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, very professional and helpful. I would definitely recommend them for short stays.

We went in the height of summer so it was around 29 degrees outside. The room we had didn't have AC (possibly because of the age of the building) so the nights were extremely hot. There was a high tech fan and the windows do open but against the heat it didn't help much.

This was a last-minute decision, 24 hours before to stay for 1 night on NYE, and we were lucky to get a superior room, which was huge, and very comfortable. We were absolutely thrilled, when the staff member showed us to our room. We were also incredibly grateful, that the staff were able to book us into their restaurant on NYE, and oh my gosh, what a luxury this was! Top quality, luxurious food and amazing staff. Just perfect. Thank you so much for such a memorable stay, from check in to check out. We were even lucky enough to greet the Housekeeper, when we vacated the room, who was so friendly and welcoming to us. We will definitely visit again.

We could not fault a single thing

A lovely little boutique hotel with a lovely atmosphere. Staff were all really friendly and helpful, small bar with amazing cocktails. The breakfast was great, plenty of choices and dinner was delicious. The room was spacious with a lovely comfy bed. The location was perfect, very central with easy access to everything. A little pricey but it was a last minute find due to being let down by original accommodation during Goodwood Festival week. Would definitely recommend.

Purchases is an absolute gem of a hotel. Beautifully designed but not pretentious, gorgeous rooms, wonderful food. The atmosphere is relaxed but attentive. The stand out element for us were the superb staff. They are an incredibly helpful, fun, bright engaging team who clever clearly enjoy and take great pride in their work. Its a rare find these days….we will be going back for our next visit to Goodwood.

Nothing at all - my only one suggestion would be to put better quality tea bags, milk and bigger cups in the bedroom.

We were greeted on arrival by the receptionist who was very efficient and showed us to our room, which was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We had booked to have dinner on the day we arrived. The food was delicious - one of the best meals we have had for a long time - and the staff and service were excellent in both the bar area and restaurant. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint either. An extremely well-run, privately-owned establishment.

we visited to celebrate my wife’s birthday and was very impressed to find such a beautiful room for the price . the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. we didn’t have an evening meal there but we did enjoy fantastic freshly cooked breakfast both days eating it in the garden area .all the ingredients were top quality and cooked perfectly.we will definitely going back again . I recommend the cocktails they were excellent I can’t recommend this hotel enough !overall it was perfect can’t wait to visit again .

Lovely boutique hotel right in the centre of Chichester. Great breakfast in the morning and we had an excellent evening meal. The service was very friendly, lovely decor - secret garden - terrace area and rooms individual and tastefully decorated. A word to summarise Puchases for me would be ELEGANT. Right in the centre of town and a really pleasant stay. When back in the area will be our first choice.

Can't think of anything. Great that more boutique than standard hotel chain. Even down to the crockery that the food is served on was distinct and value adding to the whole experience. A little gem I would say !!
