We like the Kinder Lodge because the rooms are very cosy. This is our third visit and each room we've stayed in has been very comfortable. This time we stayed in Room 6 which faces the main road and is above the pub's outside seating area. The main road was quite noisy, but after midnight the traffic subsided and it was very quiet until early next morning. The noise/talking from downstairs stopped once the pub closed around 11.30pm. We also really looked forward to Steve's well cooked breakfast which always set us up for the day.

Parking - there is very limited parking (enough for 4 or 5 vehicles at a push) so if you arrive later in the evening, you'll need to park in adjoining roads. We parked near the George hotel in Church Street and walked back to the Kinder Lodge. Stairs - this hotel is not suitable for those who struggle with stairs and definitely not for wheelchair users. The rooms are located at the top of the building and you have to climb 3 sets of very steep stairs to reach them. I have mobility problems, but am able to slowly manage these steps by crawling up the last lot to my room! But once I'm up there, I tend to stay put. Bath - there are no grab rails and I take my own bath mat to avoid slipping.

Comfie bed, lovely breakfast. Landlord was very accommodating. We had arranged a walk with an early start time. We were offered an earlier breakfast and were provided with a packed lunch. There was a bit of confusion around payment (in that we had overpaid for something) but this was picked up on (by the landlord) and we were refunded promptly. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Beautiful area also.

I wouldn't have described it as 'luxury' but it was certainly clean and comfortable.

Really friendly and welcoming hosts. It was a very busy weekend in the town and at Kinder Lodge but they were so helpful and are great hosts. Breakfast was really good too.

It was a great place to stay in a really good location. The bathroom could do with a bit of attention as some of the fixings were loose and the shower pressure was not the greatest, but don't let that put you off as it was a homely and comfortable room and I would definitely go back.

The owner was very attentive to our requests and had a good sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble.

A mirror in the bedroom would have helped and although we knew the area well maybe some notes in the bedroom on places of interest would be good. Also, as the Pub does not do food other than breakfast a guide to local eateries would be nice although i'm sure the owner would have been happy to give advice if we had needed it.

lovely location with a hillside view from my window. staff friendly. good breakfast, nice and hot. clean and tidy. great sized room although en-suite a tad cosy.

it’s ever so picky so apologies in advance, the single mattress was very soft in the centre and lost its firmness, could do with replacing?. the toilet flush needs some attention as there is a knack to getting it to work.

The price was great for the location as it allowed us quick access to the local trails and caves. We were nicely welcomed and shown to our room which was spacious enough to play some wii games. The bathroom was clean and the room had a few extra bits prepared for us that we did not expect. The small gestures go a long way in showing the host cares about preparing the room. Parking was right outside the property which is a plus. To add to it all they have a bar with a pool table and TV. We had a great stay and enjoyed a custom breakfast before leaving.

For the price and location, I have no negative comments. We did not have any issues but I am sure if we had, the host would have helped us out.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He also made a first-class cooked breakfast in the morning - you could tell he took pride in cooking it. The quality and plating up was excellent. The cost of the room (£80) for such a great location, and such a great breakfast was well worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The breakfast was excellent and the bar staff were helpful. The bed was comfortable and I appreciated the en suite facilities.

The tiling in the shower was a little tired, with some grout missing, and because there was a double bed in the room there was no space for a bedside table. The door to the room didn't lock by itself, as the closer mechanism wasn't strong enough - it was necessary to insert the key and use that to pull the door to.

Free drinks in rooms. Staff came to turn up rooms each day even without being asked. English breakfast was good and supplemented by Gf options. Room was spacious and staff were friendly.

Parking was limited and on one occasion I had to pay for overnight parking in a public car park. Heating in room was variable. Shower could have been hotter.

I recieved a warm welcome. I explained I had an early start in the morning and the manager Steve allowed me access to the kitchen and left items out for my breakfast , cereal, milk tea etc. It was very relaxed and comfortable. The shower is good and the bed was very comfy. I had a great sleep.

I liked everything about my stay.
