Best Western Garfield House Hotel

very clean, staff excellent from reception (Ian very helpful) and bar/restaurant staff lovely. Executive Double Room (once we changed rooms) very comfortable with sofa space to relax / work. Bed very comfortable - bottles of water and Tunnocks wafers a nice touch.

the first room we were allocated was not as described - no sofa / table and chair which we needed to work in the evening but Ian on reception was very accommodating and moved us to a different room - same room type. would not have been happy to stay in the original room so be careful when you book this type and ring hotel to check.

So I didn't actually stay here but has a mishap when I was locked out just before midnight and needed a place to stay. By the time this booking went through it was for the next day and the hotel was fully booked. In a world where it's easy for companies to just keep your money, I so respect the hotels efforts to refund me cos Lord knows, Booking.com were not interested.

N.a I didn't stay so can't comment on this. Have stayed at other great westerns so can only imagine it's all good ! Thanks again to the management.

The executive room was large and had a table with two tub chairs at one end, a large tv and mirror, a good size bathroom with powerful shower. The bed was very comfortable, the mattress medium soft and I have bad joints so am fussy normally. The breakfast was good worth pretty of choice of cooked or cold, and gluten free options for me. we ate in the restaurant one of he two nights and it was very tasty well presented food. The lounge/lobby area was very very comfortable and nicely decorated and we sat there to read with a cup of tea at one point.

The corridors outside the room were a bit squeaky/ noisy as people walked down them so when people moved around early int he morning i heard them, but that wasn't a major issue. In general it was very quiet but we weren't staying over a weekend. I am sure it would have been noisy if we had, as our room was fairly close to the lobby.

I haven't been as impressed with a hotel, as I was during my stay here. From first arrival the exterior looks idyllic, the staff were awesome, particularly the guy on check-in / front of house, room was amazing, food was excellent. I'll be recommending the hotel to anyone I know looking to stay in the area, and will book again next time I'm in the area, even if it's not the closest hotel to where I'm going.

I didn't manage to find anything whatsoever to dislike during my stay, even if I were to be picky.

It was clean and quiet and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. we had a surprise upgrade to the bridal suite which made the trip really special. highly recommended - check ahead on Saturdays in case there’s a wedding booked in - but if not really can’t fault it - though I don’t know what the standard rooms are like I’d expect they’re pretty clean like the rest of the place was. staff couldn’t have been more helpful. great place

Corridors had a bit of a shake and vac or Febreze-y smell and the views aren’t especially pretty - but these are minor quibbles compared to all the positives.

I always book the best western when I am visiting family as they are close by and I’ve always enjoyed the best western for there rooms and staff and the food.

Out of all the times I’ve stayed at the best western I have to say even though I still rate it high. My room was comfortable & clean but the location of room 17 meant we didn’t get much sleep due to being next to noisy equipment and we where also next to where the delivery’s are made. So my self and my daughter didn’t get much sleep as the room was warm so we had to have the window opened and this didn’t help with the noise even though we could still hear the noise with the room window closed. Such a shame as everything else was spot on.

Christine on the reception was lovely and super helpful she is an asset to the hotel. Room was clean, bed was big, bathroom clean. Parking was easily accessible outside the hotel. Couldnt of asked for anymore from my stay really

If you’re a light sleeper I would recommend to bring earplugs just incase you are next door to someone who is loud as the walls are pretty thin between the rooms, I could hear every part of the drunk man’s conversation next door at 5am and if anyone was going into and out of their room along corridor.

I was travelling with my elderly mother & booked a twin executive room. Although we hadn't requested a room with disabled access, our spacious ground floor room turned out to be perfect for my mum with her aging knees - Italian shower & raised toilet etc.! We were a little concerned by the loud wedding party taking place near reception when we checked in around 10pm but our room was wonderfully peaceful & it was fun to share breakfast with the wedding guests the next morning!! The choices for breakfast were also great.

The only thing that wasn't quite up to scratch in our very comfortable room was one of the curtains starting to come off the curtain rail in the room - we flagged it to housekeeping when we left. I'd also recommend an investment in a decent coffee machine for the breakfast room - the coffee on offer in the thermos - though regularly refreshed - was so weak it was barely recognizable as coffee! Other than that everything was great!

We wanted a couple of days away to chill and the wife chose here because of the reviews and it turns out to be just what the reviews said. A wedding was ongoing the first night but to be fair we hardly heard it and it didn’t put us of. Music must have been turned low after 10 pm as we never heard it. Great hotel and staff were very friendly and polite. Because of the wedding we opted for evening meal in our room .

If I was to be super critical I would say don’t deep fry the potato scones as they were very hard both days, other than that the food was lovely

Comfy bed, lovely clean and comfortable environment and nice place to relax. Smoked Haddock and poached eggs and filter coffee were amazing, plenty selections too. Staff we met and were served by all seemed really nice.

We were in Room 17, room was fine, however the noise from the kitchen extractor fan was pretty damn annoying...I did mention to the staff and it was off at the time stated, however I forgot about the next morning 🙉 especially when it came on at 6.30am... the good ladies cooked breakfast not so good looked like a reheat from day before, told her I was going to complain but she hates me making a fuss...
