What a gem of a place! From arrival at the Old Posting House, we were made to feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautifully appointed, exceptionally clean and had a comfortable bed and an excellent shower! The evening meals were absolutely lovely (no complaints from any of us) and the breakfast (full english) was exceptional.

As we were out on the fells all day in the typical English weather (torrential rain in July!) somewhere to dry our wet clothes would have been a great addition. This did not detract from our stay though.

The breakfast was one of the best I have had in similar stays at other similar locations in the Lake District. It was cooked fresh to order by the owner Terry and served by his partner Nicola nothing was to much trouble.I also had an excellent evening meal . The bar was a very friendly place with the local customers mixing with use as we enjoyed a beer before the evening meal . Thanks again .

There was nothing not to like perhaps a little warmer in the bar but it was zero degrees outside. The whole premises are ultra clean, rooms and public areas well done .

The breakfast was well cooked and staff were flexible to individuals' choices. The evening meal was good - portions a bit too generous for me though. Our room was quiet at the rear of the property - it was lovely to hear the lambs bleating in the morning.

The property does not have a lounge. We were meeting up with a group of friends and whilst it was absolutely fine that the bar closed early (about 9pm most days), it would have been ideal if we could have met up as a group in a lounge area.

This was our third stay so we knew what to expect - comfortable, quiet room, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The staff are brilliant, the bar/restaurant area is cosy and has a very friendly atmosphere. Breakfasts are excellent and evening meals are similarly high standard.

Not a dislike at all but the portions provided for the well prepared and presented main courses were so generous that it was difficult to save enough room to try the excellent sweet course choices.

Excellent breakfast and evening meals added to the ambiance of the location.

The road alongside the property which our room overlooked suffered from vehicle noise. As it was exceptionally hot during our visit it meant that we could not have windows open to cool us as much as we liked. If the windows opened at the top, rather than at the bottom, it may have helped.

Very friendly and helpful staff, nice cooked breakfast, clean and comfortable room and a view over a field of sheep! The property accommodated our request for a room on the quiet side of the hotel which we appreciated very much.

Not sure if the water in the bathroom was drinking water so we had to keep asking for our jug to be topped up

Location was lovely and found easily even though it was dark when I arrived. I walked in to the lovely smell of food and a welcome from the owner, who quickly showed me to my room. Room was lovely size, ensuite too, all absolutely spotless. Bed was very comfortable. We had an evening meal which was really good for portion size and quality (Cumberland sausage and mustard mash and steak etc) and the owners were lovely, really friendly. Breakfast was very good, cereal, toast and full English, all cooked to order. Would definitely recommend staying here and would not hesitate to book again when visiting for work or leisure.

Nothing I didn't like, everything was great.

Well prepared efficiently served breakfast . Good varied menu for evening meal. Food nicely cooked Attractive room and bathroom. Nice chairs. Owners friendly and helpful. Room heating difficult to get to come on in evening. Other guests very pleasant. No noise from bar in bedroom.

Had to open door to get heating to come on in bedroom in evening. O K in the morning.

OPH has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are nicely decorated without being over fussy including a powerful shower with plenty of hot water, just what we need after a day in the hills. The food menu has a selection of well cooked pub favourites with the chefs specials offering something a little different. The full English breakfast is excellent, there's a wide choice of good quality items, none of your chain pub rubbish here.

I'd be hard pressed to find anything to complain about the OPH. Those not wanting a cooked breakfast may find the choice a little limited, although I suspect that if you requested something in advance the owners would accommodate.

Loved the location and we had a lovely 2 night stay. English breakfast was good and the 2 evening meals were filling and delicious - both presented very well and reasonably priced, Plenty of free parking directly opposite the Inn. We were made very welcome and would recommend to friends/family. Loved it was dog friendly. If we are in the area again, would definitely book an evening meal - top class!

Bar opened for drinks at 5pm. Arriving at the Inn 4pm we were disappointed bar not open. Beams in the room extremely low and you had to walk around very carefully, ducking your head, however we enjoyed our stay and feel the Inn offers good value for money.
