The Old Ginn House Inn

Our room was very spacious and the accommodation is in a great location with easy access to nearby towns for exploring. Plenty of car parking spaces and the staff were all very friendly. We had breakfast included and it was great, we tried different things off the menu each time. I'd recommend also eating in the pub one evening, the meals are good quality and they're certainly not small!

The bedroom doors tend to slam, which can wake you up very easily if your neighbours are up in the morning before you. If you're an early riser then that's not an issue, but if you're trying to have a bit of extra sleep then it's not so great. Overall, not a big issue for us and it wouldn't stop us going back.

Evening food choices and standard is very good. Service is good but could be a little faster. However staff are pleasant although little inexperienced, but this should not detract from the level of service received. Breakfast is good. More fruit options would be good. Again staff are pleasant and the standard of cooked items are great. Room is good although would be classed as standard and comfortable. If anything improvements could be made to sound proofing between rooms. The shower is excellent. The internet speed needs improving compared to other chains and would improve the evening. Generally this is a place that offers much in both food and accommodation and better than the normal travel chains.

Improved insulation to rooms and increased internet access speed would enhance the experience.

very welcoming. extremely clean the cleaners do a fantastic job. they have an excellent chef the food is top notch. the breakfast is excellent with lots of choices. the service is excellent the girls are very helpful. a good choice of beer. very friendly. next time we come to Cumbria we will be booking in again. well done everyone that works at the Old Ginn House. 👍

unfortunately there was no disabled toilets. my sister came for a meal there and has MS and is in a wheelchair the ladies toilet was too small so she had to use the baby changing room which was not really suitable for her. but the staff were faultless.

The rooms were large . The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in away from home. Great breakfast with good selection and superb eggs benedict. The staff were very helpful nothing was too much trouble..

I can only comment on the noise from other rooms and the banging of the door when people were coming in. You expect this in any hotel but it was a bit noisier than others we've stayed in.

Evening meal was very good as was the beer. The breakfast was excellent with a combination of a buffet for toast and cereals and a good option for cooked breakfasts. The hotel was bright, clean with good facilities and excellent parking. Overall great value for money

The twin bedded room was fine but the beds were a bit narrow - indeed I fell out of it in the middle of the night! The shower was OK but getting the shower head orientated and getting the temperature right was an imposing challenge (Room 4)

Everything to be honest ! The rooms were clean staff were pleasant x the food was amazing 👏 me and my husband would definitely 💯 come back so thank you for making our time in the lakes amazing x

Erm ?? My husband xsaid the beef on the roast dinner could of been a bit more of a carved beef ? I had curry so I didn't care I loved it xx

Great location for exploring the West Coast and the western fells of the Lake District. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The staff were all excellent, friendly and they were happy to squeeze me in at the restaurant for an evening meal even though the kitchen was due to stop serving.

I could have discovered the place earlier :-) for more trips to the western Lakes.

The staff were wonderful - helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was superb each morning and the dining room was lovely. It was fantastic to find a truly family friendly guest house with rooms that cater for a family of five.

The only negative to our stay was the temperature of the room - despite it only being around 20 degrees C outside, the room was sweltering! Fans and an air cooler were provided and the staff were only to happy to provide ice for the cooler unit, but unfortunately the room was still too hot and noisy from having two fans on max. and the windows by the roadside open! I understand this is through no fault of the staff - it is an old property and therefore cannot be helped, but it did reduce the quality of our stay.

A good country sude property, beautifully converted to a hotel/inn. Well maintained and much better rooms than mainstream four star properties.

The poperty is probably next to farm so an overpowering smell in the environment was too much to bear. The breakfast spread was okayish. However, since we are vegans, we may not be the right people to comment on food served by the inn.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Old Gin House. The breakfast had a good selection of cereals, fruit juices, yoghurts, small selection of fresh fruit and plenty of white/brown bread for toast. The cooked breakfast was excellent and very filling. We dined in the restaurant for the first night and again the portion sizes and menu choices was really good and great value for money. The chips were so nice and just like you buy from a fish & chip shop. The room was basic but clean, comfortable and had a great shower.

It would have been nice if there was more room for a better beer garden outside however, this wasn’t really a problem as it was nice to sit in the bar area to get out of the hot sun. Also there is no hair dryer or iron in the room but again it was fine.
