Best Western Wessex Royale Hotel Dorchester

Lovely clean room with large bathroom, well presented hospitality facility. Good selection of fresh fruit and pastries for breakfast. Staff were friendly and professional. Good central location.

Unfortunately my room was facing a main road and there was traffic noise even in the small hours. I’d stay there again but would take ear plugs!

We were not expecting the Hotel to look so nice inside. It looks as though it had recently been painted and refurbished. Our room was lovely and the bathroom was new. It was very clean. I cannot comment on the breakfast because we did not eat in the hotel. It would be a lovely location for a small wedding reception. The Hotel is fairly near to the train station and very near to the high street where there are plenty of places to eat and get a coffee.

Although it didn’t affect us personally, there is only a small car park . That is not the Hotel’s fault, more to do with the location. There is a large public car park a short distance away.

I stayed first in Room 111, which was very fine, with a view over the High St and a proper bath tub. It was spacious, well equipped and confortable. I liked the calm, efficient and customer-focused atmosphere of the hotel. The large common guest lounge on the ground floor was a real asset. After a few days, I was joined by a friend with mobiluity issues and we moved to two courtyard rooms. The rooms were not as fine as 111 but very practical with easy stepfree ground floor access to the car park. The hotel listened to and accommodated our mobility needs. Very pleasant staff. My favourinte Dorchester hotel in its class (and 111 is my favourite hotel room). Bus stops to a number of destinations around and a bit further from Dorchester were pretty right outside (or just opposite) the hotel so this hotel and it was on the high street and close to facilities (but I wasn't at all disturbed by street noise).

There wasn't much that I didn't like. My "impaired access" room didn't have a window with a view (high up on the wall) while my friend's room did so that might worth asking about if you're looking for a room for those with mobility issues. But thie lack of a proper window was a minor factor - the main issue was mobility and that all worked fine.

This is a lovely hotel. Perfect location. Very relaxing. Staff lovely. I have stayed before and will always stay here when I visit Dorchester.

I stayed in a courtyard room. Room was lovely and facilities lovely but in the early morning there was bit of noise form people leaving and cars driving out. Next time I will ask for an upstairs room in the hotel. I have stayed in the hotel before and it was very quiet.

Loved the bathroom spa was just an extra luxury bedroom lovely size all you need and more very relaxing stay just what I needed..

I personally would like the main door to have a curtain to pull across or something to the door to close up the gap around it. I didn't notice till the night and it let's in a lot of light from the hall when you want to sleep I managed to cover some of it. P. S. Might want to clean the on top of the poster bed the artist in me came out.

Comfortable room. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice. Location in middle of Dorchester was very convenient. Rooms serviced daily, whereas many places have continued not doing this after COVID. Tea, milk etc. supplies kept topped up and changed type of bottled water on request.

Parking difficult. Limited parking at the hotel but no instructions how to get to it. Public parking very close by but again not easy to find if not been there before. Seemed expensive, think I misread the nightly rate when I booked. Restaurant not open.

Good breakfast options, tasty coffee. Very clean and quiet room. Interesting library-shelves wallpaper in corridor! Location convenient for both Dorchester rail stations, and local restaurants. Congenial staff.

No lift. Over-scented products in bathroom. Shower screen didn't prevent lots of water on bathroom floor.

We were so well looked after by staff members. All members were friendly and professional - great engagement with us, especially at the reception desk. Breakfasts were really good. Rooms were comfortable and clean- well appointed. We liked relaxing in the lounge area, especially in the late evening and having easy access to the bar and coffee. A nice environment to be in- lovely seating, smart and comfortable. Great to be able to use the hotel car park.
