The Red Lion, Stretham0

The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the facilities, although in no way lavish, were totally adequate, clean and homely. As a lover of Pale Ale, I very much enjoyed several pints of the Landlord by Timothy Taylor. In the bar. We had a meal which was basic but freshly prepared and reasonably priced. That a small and interesting church was just across the road completed the authenticity of the Red Lion as a genuine English village pub. I am very much looking forward to planning a stay next year, again as a mixture of work and pleasure , when I can experience more of the delights of Grunty Fen as well as Ely Cathedral and the Stretham Old Engine both of which I couldn't visit on my recent short stay.

The only niggle is that bedside lamps would have been appreciated.

The staff was friendly and accommodating without exception. Shower was excellent. Food delicious. We had a room that opened onto the outdoor patio, which I thought may potentially result in smoke or noise problems, but happily there were none. I enjoyed hearing the murmurs of happy conversation, and seeing the dogs that came onto the property with their owners. Ceiling fan was really appreciated during the warm spell. Well stocked convenience store just across the street. Very easy access to bus stops.

Maybe have some tissues in the room? No problem getting my own from the store across the street, but would have been handy for the first day.

Room with a view, and the shower most excellent. Clean and tidy. Good ale. Enjoyed sitting outside under cover. They like dogs too. The staff were friendly and most helpful. Plenty of waks to do, and a very pleasant area to explore.

There was no net curtains at the window for privacy, so the main curtains had to be drawn, which was a shame as it made the room dark. No breakfast available, due to shortage of staff. Could be noisy with customers in and out of the main doors....but hey it`s a pub, what do you expect?

It was exactly what we were looking for. Clean, tidy, staff were kind and very helpful. The place was too hot due to the weather and there is no air conditioning but a good fan was supplied and the bar is well stocked. We also had breakfast which was very good and Harley our Collie cross Labrador was made a real fuss of. There are plenty of walks nearby too. I thoroughly recommend the Red Lion.

Nothing to complain about.

The room was fine nice and quiet. The dinner the first night was excellent. The shower was great as we both have mobility issues. We liked hearing the church clock chiming the hours. the room was tidied while we were out.

We did not eat breakfast at the hotel as between 7-8 am was far to early for us as we are senior citizens. Although the room was nice the bed my partner slept in was extremely squeaky so much so that she had a dreadful nights sleep on the first night and the other two nights were affected as well

From the minuet we walked into the "Red Lion" to the morning we booked out the service we received from the friendly staff was exceptional. If you are looking "full English breakfast" to start your day look no further. Rooms were clean, comfortable & equipped we everything. At the end of a busy tiring day the beds were a welcome.

The sounds of rural life and the chime of the village church bell may not be to everybody's choice but for me added to the complete experience of staying in an English village pub.

Room was fine, upstairs so a bit of a climb. Plenty of room and all facilities. We had a snack for an evening meal and that was good. Plenty of choice in drinks. Good car parking space.

A little slow in check in. Stairs a bit steep but ok. Bar man seemed more concerned with his mobile phone, but it didn't detract from our stay.

exactly what we needed! beautiful area and nice little pub. don’t expect the ritz for the price!

bed was a little harder than I’m used too but that’s personal preference! staff were hard to find during the day but didn’t affect the stay.

Clean and comfortable room with a fan (perfect for the heat that weekend!), the staff were very friendly and accommodating, it was situated in a quiet, pleasant town, the bed was comfortable, we slept well there, it was a perfect distance from the wedding venue that we needed to go to, the breakfast was very nice.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location for visiting Ely (15 minute bus ride, bus stop right next to pub) and surrounding area. Lovely breakfast. Nice beer garden with friendly locals. Room was nice.

Could do with a bit of a spruce up but this would not stop us staying again.
