The Brambles B&B

The Brambles is a pleasant B&B in a rural setting. Generous parking right in front of the main building. The room was comfortable and the large bathroom appeared newly-renovated, bright and modern and with a good shower. Very good breakfast, all hot items freshly prepared by the host. A 10-minute drive down the road there is a Park & Ride station. A smart and hassle-free option to get into the city of Cambridge.

The only thing that caused us a little problem were the steep stairs up to our room.

Room was perfectly clean. The location was great. Liz made us feel really welcome and made a great breakfast 😁. The bathroom was massive and shower was nice and powerful.

The bed definitely needs updating it was super creaky and we could feel the springs through the mattress. My husband has come back with a super sore back just from one night. The rooms seem to be stuck in the 1980s and I have to confess I was going round thinking of what the Hotel inspector would do there 😂😂. (No towels on the bed, leaflets for activities not needed in room, guest information was pictures of an extension they did in the 70s) The size of the room was literally one person could walk around the room other person had to be on the bed or in the bathroom but it was fine for a night.

Travelling for work I appreciated being able to unwind when returning to the accommodation and especially not having to make conversation after a hard day! At the same time I knew that I was being cared for. As an example, when he knew I couldn't make the early breakfast time or eat a full breakfast the proprietor kindly agreed to prepare a bacon sandwich for me at a later time. The bacon was delicious and tea very good too.

This is a very small thing and not really something I didn't like, but it makes a difference to my comfort when travelling for work. I prefer to arrange my breakfast in the room to save time and focus on the day ahead without distraction. I order room service when available in large hotels or prepare something like instant porridge. It would be fantastic to have an option of a room service breakfast (within reason!). At this location breakfast is charged for in the room rent and can't be opted out of (many hotels etc do this now).

I picked this B&B based in the reviews, which are honest and accurate, I wanted a place to chill for a couple of days and this fit the bill, the room was snug but clean, comfortable and cosy, the shower room nice size and no problems getting the shower to work. The breakfast was highlighted in the reviews and lived up to expectations especially the lime marmalade! Nice friendly host. All good.

Nothing to add, I guess if you didn't have your own transport that might be an issue, but I chose this B&B because it was a little off the beaten track.

My wife and I were very happy to spend two nights at the B&B. The bedroom was clean and Bright also the bathroom with shower etc. We got to know the host, when we went for breakfast, which was a full English or Continental.The Dining room was beautiful. We will make the journey back and stay again it’s in a good location.👍

Very pleasant overnight stay at the Brambles…room was lovely. Bed very comfortable. Shower good. Room has kettle to make tea or coffe. Some nice cookies too. Bob the proprietor was very nice.he cooked a great full English breakfast in the morning, which set me up for a good day of traveling. The house is on a nice country road between Ely & Cambridge. Very quiet. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Would highly recommend..

It was in a lovely location that felt like you were away from everything, but it was only a 5min drive to get to local pubs for food. We didn't get chance to appreciate it fully as we were only on a quick overnight stop. The room was clean and well equipped and breakfast the following morning was plenty.

The initial greeting when we got there made me wonder if I'd got the right door as it was quite abrupt. But we soon realised at breakfast that this was just him and he was actually great to talk to.

only a 1 night stay but room had everything you would need and the breakfast was very good .

The post code does not direct you to the property, maybe set up What3words? I would have preferred when selecting your breakfast the evening before you could have space to enter if you didn't want certain items on the comprehensive full breakfast menu to save waste

Comfortable bedroom and well-designed bathroom. Quiet location.

A married couple and I had to wait over half an hour after the advertised check-in time to gain access to the property. A neighbour finally arrived with keys. There was no milk on the drinks tray in the bedroom. The shower was a little weak, but otherwise functioned OK.

Very comfortable twin room, lovely and clean with good parking too. Tea and coffee making facilities in room were a nice touch with biscuits as well. Breakfast was good. Host was very informative about where to eat etc. Would definitely stay again when in area.

Only negative is we would have gone for a walk but need a car to get about really as no pavement on roadside and no street lights so very dark at night. That said, there were plenty of places to eat within a few minutes drive.
