The room was lovely and comfortable, Just what we were after, the location was excellent. Easy to walk to bars and restaurants. The street was busy and loud, we didn't realise we had visited Ely on the weekend if the beer festival. We didn't mind so much though as we just wanted some space away from home together. Had a lovely relaxing bath, lovely and warm in the room (although it may get stifling in the summer!) The staff were very nice and the breakfast was very good. We decided to see the cathedral just a few minutes up the hill, then down the hill for the small harbor and to the lovely Peacocks tearoom. ( the menu for tea's is extensive, if you like tea and cake, go there!) On top of all of that we managed to get free parking. Free for a certain amount of time (behind the pub/hotel) then free on Sunday and we arrived Saturday evening, so worked out well. Although the signs are a little confusing, so if you arrived on a different day I'm not sure how to work out if and how you would pay.

The road was very busy and being an old building the windows did not mask much of the sound, but we were right in the centre and close to everything, a compromise we were willing to accept. (especially as the building and the room had a lovely old charm to it) One thing I would mention, (I was 33 weeks pregnant so this could just be me being clumsy) the top steps on the 1st floor are at a funny angle, due again to being an old building, the carpet seems to camouflage the steps welI, and at least twice I slipped or missed a step, but had a good hold on the banister. Cue husband panicking! No injuries though!

Lovely old building, tastefully modernised but retaining unique features like the old bread oven near the bar. Very friendly and helpful staff, quickly changed our bed arrangement on arrival. The full English breakfast was the best ever, with home made spicy black pudding to die for 😉

Shower floor not non slip but staff said a non slip mat was available on request; better to have it in the room methinks 🙄 Toilet seat fixing loose but I find this is common nowadays with plastic lightweight seats as opposed to older traditional types. Heavy lorries passing the building can be noisy and the building shakes, but not really an issue.

Location was superb; right in the heart of Ely. Once you had parked the car, we did not use it at all to get to the sights. Room had loads of character and was well decorated. Breakfast in the morning was 10/10! I was also impressed by the quality of service from staff. Nothing was too much bother.

The bedroom was incredibly hot and although we stayed in November, the weather was unseasonably warm. Use the aircon that the hotel provided. Our mistake (not the hotel's)! Additionally although the car park behind the hotel is free, it took us a while to actually get the car parked (Saturday lunchtime in the run up to Xmas) is nightmarish.

The location was great and the old building was lovely and quirky, including the wonky floors. Lovely bathroom with some nice toiletries left on a shelf. The room did get a bit hot during the night so we put the A/C unit back on reluctantly, but it was so quiet you could still sleep. The breakfast was really nice and tasty and the staff were really nice a friendly. Parking wasn't a problem for us as we didn't arrive too early. The short stay carpark behind the hotel only allows parking for four hours but it's fine overnight after 6pm until 12pm the next day.

The shower head in room 2 was a bit pathetic and sprayed over the side of the bath. The room could be a bit noisy, as it is right by the road with a very old single glazed window. The desk/dressing table was a bit dusty too, but could be because the window was open when we arrived.

Breakfast was a full English or a selection from it - also toast and marmalade nicely done and plenty of tea. The room was comfortable and had plenty of room for our needs - the ensuite bathroom was spacious with plenty of hot water readily available. We had dinner out in Ely both nights we were there so cannot comment on the in-house dinner.

We found the noise from the traffic in front of the hotel ended late and started early - but did not disturb our sleep unduly.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for me as I was visiting my nephew and his family almost opposite the pub/hotel.

The bathroom didn't serve my needs particularly well, there were no shelves/surfaces around the washbasin on which to put my toiletries etc. The shower was in the bath, rather than walk in, which is much better for me as I am in my eighties, and there were no flat surfaces on the sides of the bath on which to put shower gel etc. The bed was also very low, making it difficult to get up from it.

very good breakfast ,very clean hotel throughout, and helpful staff. Hotel was in an excellent location with a large municipal car park to the reaer. there was a very pleasant beer garden to the rear

whilst I appreciate the room was facing the road, there was no secondary glazing to reduce the impact of street noise during the night.the bed was comfy but very low which could cause problems to people with mobility issues

Comfortable bed, lovely tasty breakfast with quality ingredients, good air con in room, tastefully decorated throughout, restaurant very good too with lovely decor, staff friendly, good location next to a free car park. Ironing board, hair dryer available in room was a bonus too

Unfortunately with it being an old building and our room overlooking a main busy street it was very noisy at night. Would have liked an additional continental breakfast to go alongside cooked option (eg cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit). Toilet seat was very loose and no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels or shelf to put toiletries etc on

Very comfortable bed so still slept very well despite any noise outside on road. Great walk in shower that was easy to use. The price included an 'exceptional breakfast' and more than lived up to its promise with a choice of sirloin steak, kippers, salmon, English or vegetarian breakfast or ciabatta. Food in the evening included some of best food we have ever had. Only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ely. We would definitely stay again.

it was sat straight in the centre of ely the room was a quirky comfortable room with a taste of history the bathroom was excellent and although we slept above the bar and restaurant area we couldn’t hear much noise.

the only thing was we where on the front of the property and the windows couldn’t be shut as they were the original windows and we did not know why a inner window could’ve been incorporated into keeping the draft out but overall the bedroom was ideal
