The Riverside House Hotel

We loved so many things about this property! The hotel was clean, beautiful, and had a lot of historical charm. It was within walking distance of shops. The rooms here cozy and inviting. While there, they installed new, larger, smart tvs in the rooms. The restaurant was lovely. We really enjoyed sitting by their large glass windows overlooking their beautiful garden. Their staff was all very friendly and helpful, every single one of them! We want to especially give praise to Lauren, the lovely lady who served us at breakfast every morning. She really went above and beyond to make our stay special and welcoming. We will definitely be staying here on our next trip!

I honestly can’t think of anything.

We stayed 5 nights over Christmas. We really liked the family room which was really one room with a double bed and a connected room with two single beds. The breakfast was excellent and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

On the very last day there was apparently a complete change of staff who were rather brusque and unhelpful - even to the point of charging extra for a breakfast hot chocolate for one of the kids (we were fully paid up for breakfast). They have a bit of work to do there on customer relations.

The food is very good quality. Breakfast cooked to order. The hotel is in a good location and has adequate parking. Staff are all great. Nice bar and small lounge. Garden at the back to sit in if the weather is good.

Some items in the room were a little worn. Curtain blackout lining was torn. Otherwise it was a nice room. Good size. I have stayed here several times and think it’s probably the best hotel locally. They used to give proper biscuits and individual filter coffee cones in the rooms but this time it was instant sachets and a Biscoff biscuit. Bring back the real stuff it makes a difference to have something nice on arrival

There was a good choice for Breakfast. Cooked parts served fresh and hot. asked for Coffee and got a large pot with a few cups in it so didn't need to keep asking or going for more if wanted more.

Check-in/out relied on technology which didn't work very well on arrival. Although not necessarily needed within our group the Lift between floors wasn't pointed out and we were on the top floor with quite a steep staircase if someone had a problem climbing stairs could have been an issue.

Great location. Spotless. Stylish. Spacious bathroom Friendly,helpful staff...always chatty and smiling. Lovely bar and breakfast room. Beautiful garden SUPERB breakfast choice ... they even pulled 2 tables together so 8 of us could eat in one group.

These are not bad things.....just points that resulted on me giving a 9 instead of a 10. Toilet didnt flush very well...it was reported. Furniture edging around bedside tables ,headboard etc had all been removed...it wasn't an issue but it just spoiled the look of the room...which was great. Toast wasn't offered until after breakfast itself had been put on the table. Again, not a major issue but easily rectified. Room was a bit dark as the heavy curtains could not be held apart to let more natural light through

Beautiful hotel, friendly helpful staff

There was a wedding on, so it was a bit hectic and noisy. And there needed to be more than 1 member of staff on breakfast duty. Poor Laura was rushed off her feet trying to keep large tables of wedding guests happy. Not enough tables were set up for the amount of guests either. Laura had to ask several guests to wait whilst she cleared and set tables for them. Not fair on Laura, and not exactly 4 star service for guests!

lovely building. room large. only problem was the size of the bed. appreciate it would be expensive to change all the beds for bigger ones.

had to keep asking for heating to be turned on, but there was a small heater to plug in as well. as requested, we left towels on rail to use again but they were still changed!! we find this happens a lot in hotels, even when there is a note on the wall asking to save on washing, which we totally agree with.

Garden room had lovely view. Room was quiet and bed was comfortable. Picturesque garden situated on the river. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good choice of breakfast and the Full English was very tasty and well-presented. Close to town centre and local amenities.

Bar prices are on the expensive side.

The staff were professional yet friendly. The location , for what I wanted, was very good. Breakfast was good with a mix of buffet for cold and table ordered for the hot items.

The only problems were that the curtain couldn't fully close (at the top as it was off the runner and was too high for me to sort) and that the room heater made a noise when operating so I turned that off. I suppose I could talk about squeaky floors but that comes as standard with the older properties.

The location in the centre of Mildenhall was a real plus. The check-in was smooth even though we were early, and didn't need access to the room at that time. Our room was on the first floor at the front of the hotel, but we didn't notice traffic noise. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. We were allowed to bring some friends into the hotel to join us at breakfast, and it all worked seamlessly. The staff were always attentive and welcoming.

Just one of those things that the hotel couldn't really manage - the guest(s) in the room above us came in after midnight and spent half an hour traipsing back and forth on the creaky floorboards. But everything was peaceful after wards.
