A lovely refurbished property but with a real period Georgian feel. Gorgeous decoration and furniture, with many conserved features. Even the old pub sign from out side has been preserved and hangs above the open fire in the bar.The room we had was very comfortable and warm, with an amazing shower!! Food and drink were all excellent, and for such a rural pub we were surprised how many people came to eat at night. Great atmosphere in lovely surroundings. We also enjoyed a great walk up on the moors, this is right in the heart of the rural south of Co Durham, not far from Richmond and Barnard Castle. Real ales were also really good :-)

Nothing, the place was amazing. Our bed was quite high, described as 'quirky', as it sat above a high plinth. This was no trouble to us, but might be an issue to others.

Lovely building in a pretty location. Good parking facilities. The Bedroom was really nicely decorated and a good size as was the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. Food was great. We had dinner and breakfast. All the staff we met were friendly and efficient. Nice bar with a good ambience.

The heating wasn’t on in our room when we arrived mid afternoon and it was a cold day. Took ages to heat up as it had a high ceiling. The mirrors in the bathroom had not been cleaned. The heated towel rail was not sufficient to warm the bathroom and therefore was too cold to get a bath in the morning. We could hear the guests in the next room talking, when they used the bathroom through the night and whilst having a bath. We presumed their bathroom was next to our bedroom wall.

We had a pleasant stay, our room (room 4) was very nice, nicely decorated and clean. The en-suite was small, but quite adequate, clean and always had plenty of hot water. The bed was quite high up, there was a footstool provided to help you get in, quite quirky really, may not be suitable for all though. A hospitality tray was provided in the room with tea, coffee, milk etc, if more was required you only had to ask. Breakfast was very good, good choice.

Amazingly clean. Top quality bedding. All fixtures and fittings were top quality, marble shower tiles, excellent water pressure in the shower, very comfortable bed, thick quality towels. Tastefully decorated.

I think the listing needs to mention that the cabin bed is very high and has a step to get into it, as you need to be physically able. The WiFi would not work properly on the first night, despite having good signal and the correct code, which was a bit frustrating as we were hoping to watch a film on Netflix. Not sure why. as it worked fine the next day.

It was in a lovely village with lots of history and the accommodation was excellent. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms very spacious. The manager of the pub Karen could not do enough and the staff were all very welcoming. We had three nights in the pub and the food was excellent The menu choices on the menu were limited but all the food was freshly cooked and the vegetarian options were good

Two of the bathrooms were not user friendly for older people as we did not having a shower and the baths were difficult to get in and out of

Loved the setting. Very friendly staff. Best shower ever. The breakfast was excellent and we chose to have a meal in the evening which was also very good. The room description was cabin deluxe ensuite which now I realise is perfect as it is small with no bedside tables and a step up onto the bed. However it was very comfortable and we treated it as a quirky adventure 😊 and it was very good value.

Everything but just a small bedroom

The height of the bed. It was 3 foot off the floor. Ok for us as good mobility but for someone elderly it would be more difficult to get in. It did not state this when booking the room. Also on booking it stated apartment and it was a room so limited space as we had 3 dogs. Very nice and clean. Lovely staff lovely food. Excellent location for walks

Nice room Nice staff Nice quiet village wirh easy access to goid walks and small towns

Thin walls between rooms so we could hear talking next door...and snoring all night Shower would have been good, bathroom was certainly big enough Cooked breakfasts great but limited if you didnt want cooked breakfast. Perhaps buffet optiin for cold breakfast would be better with more choice

Lovely property, the room we stayed in was huge and absolutely gorgeous (the wallpaper alone is genuinely stunning). The pub itself is lovely, and the staff are beyond welcoming. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

One thing that did seem strange is no shower curtain in the bath - I think it could have easily been installed and would have saved the room from flooding, which is a minor inconvenience to the guests but surely a major maintenance issue for the owner. Also, we travelled in May and they had just recently reopened after covid - the menu was limited and probably slightly below expectations in quality. I am assuming this was temporary

We really enjoyed our stay in The Milbank Arms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was small (and the bed was maybe a bit tricky and high) but it had so much charm and comfort that we didn't bother at all. We also ate in, and the food and service was also very nice. It's a lovely and authentically decorated place to stay, in beautiful Yorkshire surroundings.
