Lodge at Solent

Clean, tidy, smart, very comfortable beds, good quality linen and towels. Reasonable amount of space, excellent amount of hanging space and places to store things. Excellent wifi, power point and usb ports all in the right places. Well thought out hotel room. We had a room at the back which was lovely and quiet. Met some of the housekeeping staff very polite and efficient

Perhaps slightly more generous with coffee sachets although I really am being picky as it was a perfect 4 night stay. Sadly someone has ruined perfectly good carpets by trailing bleach along corridors and bedrooms. I can see why they haven’t replaced them as they were probably new when this happened.

Location is great with Whitely Village down the road and close to Southampton and Portsmouth. Plenty of parking. Good size room, lovely big, comfy bed and fab shower. Good amount of storage for clothes etc and nice to have an iron and board in the room. Great size telly, good amount of sockets and USB Ports around the room. Good controls for adjusting the temperature of the room, which are easy to use. Free WiFi, that worked well. Hotel was quiet and we slept well.

Restaurant next door did not look welcoming and needed up keeping, we had a drink but definitely didn't want to stay for dinner, so we went onto Whitely Village for dinner.

I usually stay at the Solent Hotel and Spa, but couldn’t get the rooms needed so booked 1 x double room and 1 x twin room at the Lodge at Solent instead. I didn’t know much about these Lodges and certainly wasn’t expecting them to be what I was used to at the hotel, but I was mighty impressed! Rooms are modern, spacious & a good size - bed was like a super king and most importantly for me, the room was super clean and not dusty at all. I loved the decorative hanging/wardrobe area and loved the decor too. The room was quiet, we didn’t hear anyone above or when ppl were coming in and out of the lodges, despite being near to the main entry point. The only time we did hear others was around breakfast time but that was it!

Wished all rooms had an outside balcony! 😊

Room is really nicely styled and tidy. I really liked it. A bit more than what I expected for the price, but basic. Breakfast was really delicious. They have continental/full English breakfast. The staff is really nice and they try to make sure you enjoy your morning. If you don't want to have a breakfast there (I don't know why you wouldn't), there is a Starbucks, Costa, standard franchise places in 10 -15 minutes walk (5 mins by car) nearby. Dinner was also very delicious. We had a really tasty burger. They did run out of stake by the time we got there, so probably worth booking dinner. (We did not book it as we ate in Portsmouth, but then we become peckish :-) ).

Nothing. It was a a bit weird that check-in is in the restaurant/bar just left of the main entrance, but both check-in/check out went smoothly and staff was really friendly, so can't really complain about anything...

This was the third time staying here, I was so impressed the first time that I have come back every time I am visiting family nearby. The rooms are very well laid out, plenty of space and lots of plugs/usb charging points, extremely comfortable bed as well. Bathrooms are a decent size, good shower and I like the eco-friendly shower gel and hand wash bottles. The breakfast is good, with lovely staff available at all times, and there is a good atmosphere in the pub in the evenings

Nothing, you do have to have a car to get here but once settled you have the pub and adjoining Solent hotel bar and restaurant on site, as well as the nearby Whitely shopping centre with lots of restaurants a 10-15 minute walk away

Location and quietness.

Poorly managed signage and booking-in: was made to walk around car park with heavy cases needlessly with no significant apologies from anyone. “Oh, just go back again and they’ll check you in”. Poorly maintained plumbing, allowing scalding water from washbasin or stone cold with little modulation. Broken soap dispenser in shower (which otherwise was quite excellent). Stained hallway carpet and chair upholstery in room.

It was very clean & comfortable

The fact it was £138 which said breakfast was included to find out at breakfast was only cereal,fruit,yogurts & toast,if u wanted cooked breakfast it was an extra £6.95 for 5 items or £9.95 for 7 items so total cost of stay was £151.90 & we stayed over as we had wedding reception at a joining solent spa hotel,was not worth the money paid as family members stayed at solent Spa hotel & there cooked breakfast was included in price of there stay.

Room was clean, just the right temperature inside as it was a hot day. Bed was comfy, I have to say the power of the shower was brilliant, never had such a powerful shower in a hotel room. Only stayed one night for the Victorious festival, location was great 20 mins drive in. My only gripe would be (and its not the hotels fault) but was woken early by some kids screaming and running down the corridor. Just meant I left earlier than expected. The pub next door looked nice, didnt have time for food but if I was staying again I would definitely try it. Parking at hotel was easy and free.

Only thing I can think of is stop kids running through corridor screaming early in morning, but thats not the hotels fault.

it is super quirky and funky.love the decor.

the bodywash and soap in the rooms isn’t nice at all as it smells too clinical and dries the skin out.has previously brought out my eczema.would advise change to something nicer to enhance the guest experience.even if they are minis for guest to take it would be a better investment than a mystery product in some random bottle.not great that there’s no list of ingredients.if I had of seen it the first time I never would have used.

Room was very clean and modern. The shower was excellent and in general, everything felt quality. Ironing board was a great addition since I travelled for work. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, some of the best.

I did not like the fact that it cost £5 for a single drink next door at the hotels restaurant/bar and also that having paid for bed and breakfast only entitled you to ceareal/fruit and basic pastries with a hot drink. Usually for the price, I'd have expected a cooked breakfast however everything else was great.
