New Place

The room was clean and comfortable with parking and check-in straightforward. We spent some time in the swimming pool, which was pleasant and easy to access. We had an evening meal in the bar, which was a little chaotic in that our order took a couple of attempts, but nice overall. Breakfast was exceptional with a great range of food, good service and an aesthetically pleasing environment.

The rooms are in outbuildings not in the main house block, which was mentioned in the info but were a bit more chalet like than we had expected. They were also slightly noisy with people passing outside being able to be heard easily. Generally it felt a little on the expensive side.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely easy woodland walks surrounding the Manor House, gorgeous lawn and fun garden games, great breakfast and nice comfortable rooms. Really nice to have access to the leisure centre as many times as you want, my young daughter loves it! Staff were lovely especially lady at front desk :)

Food is very pricey for what it is (£6 garlic bread!) (£20 for a Greek salad - which doesn’t even contain high value products like fish or meat!), and would be nice to have had a few more options for room service menu - like sandwiches / smaller plates. That said we would still definitely go back again.

Good warm bedrooms. Well run pool and sauna.

The price of dinner and wine was very high. BREAKFAST was good value.

The food in the restaurant was excellent. All the staff were fantastic. The bed was comfy. Ample parking. Good breakfast. The pool was nice and warm and although small the sauna was also good. The main building is beautiful and the whole place is well maintained

The room was really hot even with the heat off and the window only opened a crack. The pool was out of order on our last day which was really disappointing and it appeared that the showers in the changing rooms hadn't been cleaned from the day before. It took us a while to find our room in the dark when we first got there. It might be helpful to show people who have never been before to their rooms.

Venue, facilities, surroundings, location.

Breakfast wasn't very hot. Would be nice for staff to be a little more friendly and engaging with customers... and Smile!! Was very much matter of fact. Robotic approach... We are humans after all, having that interaction with customers makes you feel more welcome and a sense they have a genuine interest in us... Took 10 mins to serve 3 drinks! Clearly a lack of experience by the looks at it. When directed to the swimming pool.. I think signage could be improved. My card didn't work at the door. I knocked twice whilst two workers were the other side of the door.. Took two attempts for them to come and help open the door... Otherwise, a fairly good stay. Thank you

Gorgeous property, nice surroundings, friendly staff. It seems like there are a lot of students around, but that didn't bother us. Nice size pool with hot tub and sauna. We stayed there coming from Dover right before our cruise at Southampton.

Room was extremely hot, even though the temperatures were pretty normal for the time of year. Couldn't open a window, so had to ask for an upgrade to a ground floor room, where the windows could open. You are not staying in the beautiful manor, but rather in seperate buildings off the side.

Stayed here twice now. Really neat rooms, for a reasonable price. Doesn't feel dated. Comfortable, clean. The wifi worked well enough to run Netflix off a dongle. A fan in the room came in handy with it being so warm. Love the location, the old stately house is just beautiful. The grounds just have a special feel about them.

Nothing. We didn't have chance to use the facilities so can't comment on the pool. If I'm being really picky I would have liked some form of net curtains on the windows for privacy as its either curtains closed, or open for all to see. Not a huge issue but does restrict natural light in the morning. I do think that an opportunity is being missed on the grounds for coffee, tea, high tea and so on at the on-site cafe/restaurant.

The grounds were superb - great for walking dogs. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the shower was great and the towels were definitely 4 star quality. The dog bowl, blanket and treats were great. The bar served food until 10pm, which was good for us as we could not arrive until 9pm (due to disembarkation from Brittany Ferries boat). We took our drinks on the terrace, which was really good and had a night stroll along the outer path through the wooded area. All staff were very friendly and helpful - 24 hour reception if needed.

We felt that it was quite expensive, but particularly the food and wine. However, considering the grounds and facilities it is probably the reason why the room rate was expensive. The food and wine, probably due to the current cost of living crisis - i.e. cost of utilities, and rise in food prices.

Buffet breakfast was excellent. The room was large but it was a superior room. The location was superb. The bed was comfortable and bigger than a standard double. We had a good meal in the restaurant. The staff were helpful and pleasant, saying good morning/afternoon as you walked around. Great facilities for electric vehicles.

The room had no draws in any of the furniture. The accomodation blocks were quite remote from the main buiding, luckily it didn't rain otherwise this would have been a problem. Usual problems with it being a wedding venue, noise late at night, access to certain facilities (we were turned away from the main bar). Facilities in the room were sparse you had to go to the coffee lounge to get a decent coffee and biscuits. Just one small soap, one shower gel and one shampoo was provide for two people in the bathroom.

Initial view of the main building as you turn off main road was spectacular. Accommodation less so being rows of chalet type buildings - but still good. Grounds well cared for. Nice to be able to get a meal at any time after midday. Plenty of parking and walks through the trees around the property. Would recommend staying here.

Would have liked a rule that all dogs should be on a lead in public areas. There was quite a few dogs staying that were allowed to roam. Although supposedly well trained and friendly, our dog is nervous and didn’t like dogs approaching our table.
