Harbour Hotel Fowey

It is a beautiful hotel in a great location with excellent staff and food

My room was next door to the Delivery entrance just below at the rear, and that door got repeatedly slammed making everything jump in my room including me!!

A lovely hotel with interesting design and period details, and a comfortable, well provisioned room. The views over the Fowey estuary are glorious, and it can be fascinating to see there is always a boat on the move, or to notice how the view of Polruan and the coastline varies with the tide and the light conditions. The restaurant, lounge and hotel room, all nicely done, were completely special as they look out on all that. The food was great too, especially the local, “Fowey” mussels.

Sometimes it wasn’t ideal walking to and from the town car park on the hill, and I did envy the guests who’d beaten me to a cushy, reserved spot on the tiny hotel car park! But the steep slopes and narrow streets are better without everyone driving down and causing unrest!

The estuary view was great, even with the partial estuary room we had booked. Unsure how an inland view would compare at this hotel. The breakfast was good & many people varied there requests.

As many have mentioned the parking, just like Fowey as a whole was the only point of question. Onsite parking can be tight & we noticed a few 'longer' size cars that could make parking an issue. We parked at the Main public car park but the path was hilly. Would suggest offering if you dont have an allocated space to drive in & park to unload only & when parking as people cant book in until 3pm anyway. Also the Hotel could suggest that those staying for a week could use the weekly fee of £25 for 7 days in the Long Stay public car park using card to avoid returning everyday..

Grand old hotel from another era that has been pleasantly modernised with appropriate decor. Lovely views from our very comfortable upstairs bedroom. The breakfast room , the views from the windows there and buffet selection were nice. It is just a short walk down into the village. We left there with happy memories

Bathroom recently renovated, looked good … but the over large handbasin squashed the toilet into a ridiculously small corner - no room to reach for the toilet paper from its spot on the floor ! Shower over bath with a screen that could not open properly due to aforementioned basin made that spot downright uncomfortable and dangerous. And an unnecessarily large bathroom door made that space even more cramped…. from staff comments when we mentioned our ensuite’s shortcomings, ours was not the only Bathroom like that ! The relatively high end hotel was not cheap and should have better designed bathrooms

The location was great! Both Hari and Peter were very helpful at breakfast. View was amazing, as were the beds-very comfortable.

The reception staff were very unfriendly and seemed very young and inexperienced-this really put us off. We had broken wooden slats in our room. The second bedroom was far too hot, even with a fan. No spaces other than a small bar area to sit. Very very expensive menu and not worth the extortionate prices that they charged. General upkeep of hotel and staff were not at all on top of the cleanliness, nor did they bother to ask us for any additional drinks. Again, mostly young and inexperienced staff. Shame. Something to be said about having a personality and being business savvy enough to come around, have a chat, or merely ask if we need another drink etc. Wasted opportunities!

Very nice room, did not really need the King Bed would have preferred a normal sized double . View of Fowey estuary was very nice, would ask for a "full sea view" room next time. Complimentry gin and tonics in the room was a nice touch but would have prferred a welcome bottle of wine. Breakfast was very good but all cooked options included eggs, there were no fish options like kippers or smoked haddock as in other comparable hotels. Reserved parking was good as parking was limited otherwise.

Had to ask reception to put the central heating on every day as it was quite chilly still in early April. Heating should be available when required at the price we were paying. The hotel restaurant dining was of a very high standard but very expensive as well, typical special main course costs £27.00. We only dined there twice in our 6 night stay. Cider or beer was cheap and nasty (except for the price). Why can't these places serve decent quality ciders like Fowey brand of Perry's somerset cider?

Hotel is immaculate, bedroom immaculate, staff friendly, bed and bedding luxury! Food delicious, the whole stay was such a treat and when we arrived you'd upgraded us to a luxury sea view!!! Thank you for giving us 1 night of luxury!!

We asked to book for a second night but we're told by receptionist there were no rooms for 220 (we'd paid 180 on booking com for the night before as we did ring directly but told 240 so obviously we were going to save 60) but then we got told there were no rooms for less than 240 but again on booking com and your own site it was showing at 220 which we would have paid, we showed the receptionist and she assured us there were no rooms ! Even though there were, we could have booked it! But she said there weren't rooms! It was all very odd, we booked in elsewhere in Fowey instead, such a shame as we felt a bit disappointed at this with no explanation when we wanted to stay!!

Beautiful decor in the hotel, enhanced by a working vintage lift. Breakfast was exceptional. I had something different each day, and the quality was top notch. We can say as a couple, the breakfast was the best we have had in a hotel, to date. Staff friendly, especially the efficient breakfast team. Beautiful views, enhanced by use of the gardens, and ease of walking into Fowey town centre We felt the staff cared about giving a good service, and also that we were in safe hands.

We were happy with everything, apart from having to leave, once getting used to our surroundings

Fantastic view from the bar and windows by the window. Lovely comfortable bed and lovely room. It was our anniversary and the hotel left us a lovely box of chocolates. Thank you.

We were a party of 4 and we mentioned on arrival that we wanted to eat together. Despite this on 2 occasions we had to wait for a table despite seeing tables for 4 with 2 people on. They also ask on check in what time you would be going for breakfast. This is pointless as everyone seems to arrive when they please meaning staff very busy and long waits for food and drinks. Pillows are uncomfortable. Harbour Salcombe have fabulous pillows!

Loved the location and the fact that the hotel has its own car park, although there was a car parked in our reserved space when we arrived and cars had to be moved around to allow us to park which was a bit of a faff. Our room was gorgeous, beautifully appointed and on a corner so had double aspect. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit tight though. We had dinner in the restaurant on one evening, very nice but pricey. The views from the hotel were stunning.

Not too much to dislike really. There was a wedding on when we arrived. I did receive a call a week before our arrival warning us of this, although I’m not quite sure what we could’ve done about it. given the short notice. The disco finished at midnight so whilst the music could be heard in the bedroom it wasn’t a huge problem. We did find the the wedding guests walking through the restaurant to get to the bar rather intrusive while were trying to enjoy a quiet meal. They should have been encouraged to use the access to the bar off the corridor. We felt the restaurant service suffered as a result of the wedding.
