Breakfast was sublime, I originally ordered poached eggs on toast until I saw another guests breakfast arrive and quickly changed my order to the full English, truly scrummy- the coffee was also very good. The evening before I had fish & chips and again, very very tasty with no lingering fried flavour. The fish was very fresh and beautifully cooked. The landlord and staff made me and my dog feel very welcome, the locals were equally friendly. I would not hesitate recommending The Royal Oak Inn, it surpassed itself on value for money. I know where I'll be booking the next time I come to Cornwall.

I wanted a bath not a shower but I was too tired to say anything

The breakfast was hugh, you didn't need anything else till your evening meal. the room was great, very comfy bed. All the staff were very friendly. We would book Royal Oak Inn if we went to lostwithiel again.

Parking is a little tight

I arrived having cycled from Penzance and via Lands End! It was dark (recently), and the staff looked after me extremely well, the room was spacious, warm, and I was able to get a good evening meal, and breakfast as well before continuing the ride of torture the following day, the destination on this occasion being Newton Abbot. Lovely country pub, good atmousphere, but quiet in the room, and a good nights sleep was had.

Only one minor criticism, and that's the price, however, Cornwall prices are considerably more expensive than where I'm used to booking accommodation (in Eastern Europe)!

We wanted to stay in a smallish village while sightseeing in the area, and Lostwithiel suited. The Royal Oak was easy to get to, directly off the main entry road and parking was available on-site. Room was comfortable, with nice views. Staff and locals were friendly - even offering to walk me to the local Co-Op store in case I couldn't find it (maybe my 60+ years made them think I would get lost in the 3 blocks walk lol). Great location and well presented with friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable with all you would need and expect. We had an evening meal which was good value but also good quality - great house burgers with ‘exceptional’ chips. Breakfast was exceptional quality, quantity and cooked perfectly. This was a great location to explore this area of the coast with brilliant hosts

Some confusion in the advertising of room with ‘bath’ when the room only has a shower (which was a good shower!). Didn’t mention it, as everything else is so good and may have been down to the ‘booking.com’ description being wrong?

The room was clean, spacious with cottage style character furnishings. The food was great and the staff were helpful and friendly. We travel with our two dogs often and not only was this place dog friendly, it was the one place that doesn’t charge extra for pets to stay. I would rate it 5 stars for that alone! Also, breakfast was included in the price and was huge! The owner, Simon, was lovely and extremely helpful. I would fully recommend staying here!

I stayed for one night with my sister in an upgraded double room. Staff - excellent, brilliant, friendly, professional, very helpful. We only had breakfast as we were visiting friends locally with whom we had lunch and dinner on our 1st day at the Royal Oak Inn. Breakfast on the next day was absolutely perfect - exactly as ordered . Cannot fault the cuisine in any way. I can recommend this Hotel/Inn very highly without hesitation. In addition - a lovely garden in which to eat and drink if desired- perfect as the weather was so hot. We will always make this the hotel of our choice next time we are in Lothwithiel.,

We loved everything. Nothing to dislike.

Nice clean room. Staff were amazing. Couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Dogs made exceptionally welcome too.

The hotel was extremely busy which is great and well deserved. The only slight negative was that a lot of the menu dishes were sold out. It wouldn’t put me off staying again, they staff did all they could to look after everyone despite being rushed off their feet.
