On arrival (over 1 hour early), with enough parking for 4 cars, we were greeted by Chris and Heidi, who were lovely, very friendly, and said it's fine, our room was ready, Chris helped with suitcases, took us in and both explained everything we needed, gave us a map of the village and where we could get evening meals, shops etc, which i think is a lovely touch, our room was a good size and clean, with everything we needed a kettle many different drinks and complimentary biscuits, hairdryer, corkscrew, glasses, TV free WIFI. The shower room was lovely and big. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, fruit, yoghurt, nuts, cereals, jam & marmalade (home made by Heidi), which were lovely, toast, and a choice of cooked food too. The B&B is in a good location for travelling to many different places around Cornwall, by car or train. In our room there was also a comprehensive guide to many attractions that you could visit. Chris and Heidi seemed to have thought of everything.

The B&B was on a very steep hill. If anyone had had mobility difficulties, they would not have found it easy to get there, as was our room, at the very top of the house with stairs access only, (but saying that it was just a slight inconvenience for us) maybe this should be pointed out in the description.

This is the best B&B we’ve ever stayed at. The decor was tasteful, the room was a good size with a very nice en-suite bathroom with a big shower. Our room had a great view over the valley. Lots of extra details made us feel very welcome. The property is in easy walking distance of the town centre and all its facilities. We had dinner at Asquith’s following Chris’ recommendation and it exceeded our expectations - we didn’t expect such high quality food in a little town, especially at such good value for money. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Chris and Heidi are very friendly and easy-going. We will definitely stay with them again on our next trip to Cornwall.

Nothing at all.

The warmth of friendship and care that came from Chris and Heidi. Our trip was brought about because of a serious family terminal illness, thus not ideal conditions for a 7 day break. Chris and Heidi were so caring towards us at this difficult time..They are truly lovely people. The House is stunning and decor shows it off beautifully. Breakfasts were everyone's wish with variety and quality. I cannot recommend Penrose House High enough. Thankyou Chris and Heidi.

Ha Ha, the car didn't appear to like starting it's daily run up a very steep hill. Coming from the fens of East Cambridgeshire where its totally flat, car wasn't used to it.

Excellent range of great, non-cooked breakfast laid out every morning ...help yourself to as much as you wish. Cooked food was to order and superb quality, locally sourced! :-D

The TV screen wasn't as big as many B&Bs provide these days, and the range of channels was a few less than many... but the main issue was that, on many of the channels below the main BBC & ITV ones, the picture was glitchy at best, and not accessible on a few occasions. This could be a signal issue or a co-axial cable problem. So_ a TV upgrade would be advisable at some point. The only other issue I noticed was that the 'power' of the shower wasn't as great as many would expect these days...just a bit weaker. (It's difficult to find any negatives to report on to be honest!)

Breakfast was great, plenty to choose from and delicious. The room we stayed In was well presented and looked after and had a good view out of the window. The bathroom was airy and spacious. The B&B itself is in a great location as a base to local attractions (only a 10min drive away from the Eden Project for example) and is a short walk away from the local pubs and take aways. It's a very historic area so if old buildings are your thing it's worth a visit! It's also dog friendly which is great - we had our lurcher and lakeland terrior with us and there was plenty of space for us all.

The temperature was stifling and that's my only complaint. We couldn't open the bedroom window and it took us until the second day to realise we could open the bathroom window! We turned the heater off at the wall but I swear it came back on by itself at one point!?

The location was the perfect stopping point en route to Cornwall on our family trip (two adults and three young children). After a long day in the car, we greatly appreciated the warm welcome from the owners, who made a great effort to settle us in. The hotel is a nurtured and impressive family business. The room was lovely, and we were impressed by the attention to detail. We had a delicious breakfast in the morning, setting us up well for the next section of our journey. Thoroughly recommended.

Chris and Heidi were perfect hosts. they went out of their way to make our stay comfortably. Because of the high temperature Chris changed the duvet on our beds for a lovely soft sheet. The breakfast was very rich and yummy. The room was spacious. And it was a shirt walk from the B&B to the center of Loswithiel/ Lostwithiel is a nice little town, a perfect starting point to explore the beautiful coastal towns of Charlestown, Mevagessy and Fowey. Our dog was very welcome too. Thank you Chris and Heidi!!!

Everything was perfect. The only thing were my expectations about the surroundings of the B&B. From the pictures on Booking.com I expected a B&B outside the town in more rural surroundings with a big garden. And Penrose is in nearly in the center of Lostwithiel. After adjusting my axpectations it was all very fine!!!

Room was of a generous size, clean, great comfy bed, amazing breakfast and the rooms where tastefully modernised, however kept the old period charm as well. Both Heidi and Chris were super friendly and attentive hosts. Very genuine in wanting to make your stay as comfortable as possible and also very helpful and knowledgeable in the local area places of interest.

Everything was lovely & ideal for our quick stop over. there was nothing not to like. We were aware that it was close to a main road, but for others knowledge, there was some traffic noise at all hours of the day (not super loud). This wasn’t an issue for us, however some other traveler’s might appreciate knowing.

We both had a full English breakfast with, orange juice, fresh coffee, toast & homemade jam & marmalade, all was excellent. There was fruit, nuts, cereal & yogurt should we have wanted it. The room was spotless & the bed very comfortable. Chris & Heidi were excellent hosts and gave us lots of helpful information & a map of the local area. We will definitely stay there again.

Nothing, our stay was great.

It was a great place to stay very welcoming. Heidi and Chris were very helpful and made our stay enjoyable too. We brought our dog and they made an extra sauasge for the dog too and gave her a lot of strokes which she enjoyed very dog friendly. One of the best places I've stayed in I definitely will come back and stay again. Breakfast was delicious too.
