What a lovely stay at the Arches,Nicki our host was fab, breakfast was 1st class,Nicki gave us plenty of information regarding days out in Cornwall and local restaurants to visit she was the perfect host.We stayed in the Green room lovely 4 poster bed we slept well after lovely days out. Merlin was so well behaved always waiting in the hall for his biscuits.🐕‍🦺 We spent a week here while going to different locations in Cornwall loved every minute did not want to go home. Nothing was to much trouble for Nicki she went above and beyond. We will definitely come back thanks for a great week Nicki and Merlin x

Nikki was a kind and attentive host and very accommodating. Merlin the dog was a lovely character and very well behaved. The breakfast was delicious: kippers were top notch and Nikki really knows how to poach an egg - they were absolutely perfect! The rooms were charming and clean and ours had an amazing view of the viaduct which gives the B&B its name. Loved the colour coding of the rooms right down to the toiletries - lovely touch. Appreciated the various facilities too. Overall, better value and far more fun than a Travelodge.

The breakfast was excellent ,sorry I didn’t try the poached egg, apparently a speciality of Nikki’s. Merlin the very friendly dog was brilliant, always waiting for a treat by the door. We were in the blue room with which was very comfortable with a gorgeous ornate bed. Banged the shin on the end a couple of times but nikkie did point this out. 😉

Parking was a little tight, enough for 3 cars but doable .

A lovely stay in a comfortable room and comfy bed within a historic home. I stayed in the Green Room with an ensuite and a four poster bed! The host, Nicki, is wonderfully accommodating and her dog is good natured. The B&B itself is well-located close to St. Austell town centre, the station and walking trails to the likes of the Eden Project. Unfortunately, as a consequence it is a bit noisy being close to a main road, but that can't be helped. The breakfast was tasty too and good value for money (£7.50) if you don't book it in advance.

We had a great stay at the Arches slept like babies, Nicky was a great host and Merlin was lovely. Breakfast off the sideboard was great too and several of the goodies on offer have become a firm favourite. We didn't have a cooked breakfast but other guests did and it looked great. Big comfortable bed was great We slept better here than at the cottage we stayed in later in the week. Lovely thanks Nicky

Stairs were a little steep if you struggle but not a problem rearly

Lovely spacious room, well equipped. We particularly liked the provision of a fridge. The bed was super comfortable. Breakfasts were generous with plenty of choice, and well cooked. The shower was excellent. The location was handy.

Room cleanliness was good, except for the window. The room had a lovely outlook but our enjoyment of this feature was marred by the fact that the window was overdue for a clean, both inside and out. It might seem a minor point but excellence is all about attention to detail. We were warned about the steep drive into the property, but pedestrian access to the front door from where we had to park the car was tricky for us due to issues with mobility.

It was exactly as described on booking.com: A friendly well-trained dog (my kids had fun), a narrow steep path from the street to the building (not too narrow for my SUV, but I loved the challenge anyway) and a friendly, communicative, well-cooking host. We all really enjoyed our stay. Thanks again for the nice and friendly service! Oh, and everything was clean and tidy, well prepared and the rooms and beds were comfortable. I regularly don't empty my suitcase, I just lay it on the floor somewhere and literally live out of it and the rooms had enough space for that strategy.

I can't find anything, really.

Nikki was really friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Breakfast was to die for, and Merlin is the softest German Shepherd I have ever met. The house is a beautiful old building which has been tastefully looked after, and every room is full of interesting antique furniture. Overall, this was a perfect place to stay for my little weekend away, and I'd highly recommend it to solo travelers, couples or business people in need of a cozy bolt hole by the coast... :)

Merlin runs a lovely little guesthouse; very friendly and welcoming. My bed was really comfortable, the bathroom a decent size and the fridge in the room was most useful. Being in the Blue Room, I had bird feeders on the window and plenty of bird food to fill them with; a nice touch. Nikki (Merlin's mom) is a great host, warm and down-to-earth. She also makes rather good poached eggs! It's relaxed, easy and unpretentious - and I really enjoyed my stay.

The walls are as thin as the floors are creaky! This gives the place lots of character but can also be a bit of a nuisance when you're trying to sleep.
