Lakeside International Hotel

Breakfasts were good, would have liked some fresh fruit. Room ok, would prefer a walk in shower. Hook needed on bathroom door! Crazy having hair dryer screwed into drawer - must have been decided by a man. Glad I took my own. Windows need adjusting so they stay open a little way. Didn't have dinner, did look for information, menu etc but nothing available. Receptionists not very welcoming. Reception area very dismal.

Shower in the bath. Huge door keys. Receptionists. Dull, dismal first impression of hotel in reception area. Needs alot of cheering up! Area around the lake needs work, especially the visable parts from bedroom windows.

Plenty of choice of cooked breakfast. Although the rooms could do with minor renovations to bring it up to scratch, the staff certainly make up for the dated appearance of hotel, by the exceptional service they provide. Manager Sayed went above and beyond to do all he could to make our stay most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Well done Sayed and thank you so much for making it such a pleasurable experience, we hope your boss truly appreciates all that you do to ensure your guests are happy. Could sum it up as good old fashioned decor with equally good old fashioned service.

Just a shame I hadn’t realised couldn’t charge my phone in room as I only took lead and needed plug, but this was soon sorted by charging phone at reception.

The outlook was beautiful & the staff were extremely friendly & helpful. My booked taxi didn't turn up as arranged at 6.00a.m and a young gentleman at reception managed to get me a taxi quickly ensuring I did not miss my flight at Heathrow.

I would have liked a walk-in shower as I have two replacement hips & was unable to use the shower as the bath was too high for me to get over. I might have been able to manage it if there was even one grab rail. Also at breakfast which I arrived for at 8.45 a.m., the tea was only lukewarm and undrinkable. I switched to coffee then & it also was not hot. For the cooked breakfast the cutlery supplird did not include a serrated edge knife & consequently I found it impossible to cut the bacon with a butter knife. The croissants were delicious, fresh & nicely warm.

The breakfast was very good value and we enjoyed this a lot, We enjoyed the evening meal also. I stayed at the hotel with my two teenagers, we were down from Cambridge visiting family. We slept well and the staff was all very nice and friendly. We will stay again on our next trip down. The rooms are basic but have everything you need and my children liked the room. Nice having a window you can open to let some breeze in. A short walk to the shops and a lovely country park. A few pubs are also down the road.

Clean comfortable, staff make you feel welcome we picked a deluxe room with balcony and lake view. The included breakfast was the best we have had in a long while mix of cooked and continental. Some areas are looking a little tired but overall it was great, we will definitely use the hotel next time we visit my Daughter.

The restaurant did not have much choice and the menu is not on the website, my daughter is vegetarian and there was only one option, so we went to the havester just up the road.

Dinner was really very good. Dining room manager was excellent. He was attentive without "hovering" and the service was excellent. My room was clean with a balcony and an excellent view of the lake. The bed was comfortable. Check in and check out were handled extremely efficiently. All staff were very polite and cheerful.

The wine quality at dinner was not brilliant and there weren't any Islay malts at the bar. The duvet on my bed was a little small and there wasn't really sufficient coffees, sugar and milks. Maybe I'm being a little picky.

Lovely large bedroom with all the usual facilities. The communal area was always clean and well presented. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the lake.

It was a shame that the pool wasn’t open. The balcony could have done with a clean as it was covered with cobwebs. It would also have been nice if there had been two chairs and a small table on the balcony. We were in room 159 and the glass in the balcony doors had blown and it looked as if water had got inside the gap.

Any of the staff were super friendly and helpful and the hotel was kept impeccably clean. The views of the little lake and the sounds of its goose inhabitants were so refreshing! And the beds were super comfortable!!!

It is an older hotel and could use a refresh. The beds however are modern and very comfortable and if the decor would match that, this hotel's value would double... But maybe it would lose some of its comfort? I would definitely go back regardless

It's the third time I've stayed here and this time had a balcony overlooking the lake. Air conditioning in the room was a very welcome surprise after a day loading a truck in London at nearly 30 degrees. I will definitely be staying here again. Breakfast bar was perfect.

The bathroom was a little tired with a shower door that leaked and covered the floor with water.

Myself and my partners stay was comfortable, restful and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed the location, building, and surroundings.

The only downside was the lack of hot water in the shower, and the lack of towels in the room. However, when we mentioned the towel situation on our way out for the evening, on our return we saw the situation rectified. Many thanks.
