The hotel and restaurant were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they had arranged a cot bed for us as we were travelling with a baby. They also arranged for us to stay an extra night in the same rooms when our next hotel was cancelled. There was on site parking and it's 15 min walk from the train station, with a few supermarkets nearby. The restaurant was great and very welcoming too. Finally, when we left we left a pair of sunglasses in the room, and the staff kindly posted them to us free of charge! 5* service, thank you!

The breakfast was a little pricey, but there is a wide range and it was very tasty.

The staff confirmed our request of a travel cot the same day as booking online. The travel cot was set up and a little blanket was included which was very sweet! Tea & coffee portions (especially the biscuits) were very generous. Staff in the pub who checked us in were very friendly and welcoming and communicated everything I would need to know about my stay - I didn’t leave with any unanswered questions or things I wasn’t sure about. The room itself was much larger than I had expected which was great for our exploring 1 year old and sprawling 8 year old!

Noise of other guests in the hallway - can’t really be helped, just now having children you are more aware of what can disturb them! The foyer smelt very strongly of cigarettes, like someone had been smoking in there or just outside the doors.

+ My train to Ipswich arrived really early, so I got to the hotel at 11:30 am, well ahead of the 2:00 check-in. They didn't have room for me to store my luggage, so I planned to just hang out in the restaurant for a couple of hours, but they (and the housekeeping staff) very kindly fast-tracked my room, and I was able to check in just after 12:00 pm. Really really nice, and definitely the extra mile. + The hotel rooms are located in a building detached from the pub (on the other side of the parking lot), so it was perfectly tranquil. + Spacious, comfy bed, with convenient electrical outlets below the nightstand shelves. + Nice desk for working, with more outlets located just below the mirror. + Pleasant bathroom with a nice strong warm shower, and lots of shelf space behind the sink. + Tea tray includes PG Tips, instant coffee, and malted milk biscuits. + Absolutely fantastic continental + cooked breakfast, with a really efficient toaster. + It's not *right* by the train station, but it's only about a 20-minute walk away, partly following the tranquil river path.

Nothing. This was a lovely room to relax in during my travel downtime; I wish I'd been able to stay longer!

room was quiet, beds comfy, easy to find, food was good. room was mostly clean

we booked an accessible room, which we were happy to swap when asked via message on website, which we were happy to do, but asked for downstairs, due to mobility issues, but we were given an upstairs room, the cleanliness could be better. there was large cobwebs in 2 corners of the room, which had been there some time, there was dust on the top of the bed and lights by the bed, there was also a chocolate bar wrapper behind the bathroom door which had been missed.

Julie was amazing and very welcoming and informative. The Mermaid was well worth the money. We were told if we booked for breakfast we would save 10% on the bill, I had also booked a room for my sister to stay in after her wedding, and Julie popped some complimentary snacks and a congratulations card in her room for her. I highly recommend a stay at the mermaid, the location is perfect, it is on a busy junction but our room faced out the back with a picturesque river running, it was very quiet. We went for dinner and unfortunately I ordered a meal which they do not serve after 3pm (hunter chicken melt) and it was about 6.30pm, the gentleman behind the bar was new and didn’t realise, so my order went to the kitchen, where they did realise but decided to bring me out just Hunters chicken. Which I hadn’t ordered! I have to say the staff were brilliant, the lady that initially bought out my meal took it back to see if I could have the meal I’d ordered, but It wasn’t possible. However one of the chefs came over to apologise and got the kitchen to make the meal I wanted. Amazing customer service was given to us and that’s the reason for a five star review. Julie and her team are fantastic.

The staff were wonderful. Always friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and always clean. Great location and good value for the money.

No place to really unpack your clothes. As a hotel for people traveling on a business trip, I believe it's perfect. For a long stay, it was hard not having drawers and a closet of some sort. I should have read the details about the room more carefully. It was my fault, not the hotels that I didn't notice this.

The room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable; i.e. the most important things. Veggie breakfast was ok but not excellent. One morning it wasn't quite hot enough, the next day it was just right. Free parking right outside the accommodation.

Some breakfast glassware wasn't clean enough. It looked like it had been dishwased but there were lots of streaks (hard water?) and some tenacious "juicy bits" from orange juice. Wednesday night cost was twice as much as Thursday...why?

I like the facilities, the staff were amazing, the place is safe, close the the city centre, the restaurant/pud served good food value for money in which we could eat and get back to the room.

The only understandable thing is: there is not fridge/mini bar in the room. There is a bar in the carpark so I believe there is no need for mini bar anyway. I bought some soft drink in lidl over the road for breakfast as their breakfast was slight late due to the queen' funeral but it was kept cold by the window. So, that is not a negative thing actually.

Beds were extremely comfortable, as were the pillows. Although we stayed at quite a busy time the noise levels in the hotel was pretty much unnoticeable. Good showers and ample hot water. Housekeeping did a great job with the daily room service and change over periods.

Can't say that any one thing comes to mind, silly niggles, like the clothes hanging area could do with being longer for ladies with dresses. Baths are fantastic but a floor level/ walk in shower tray works well too.
