Characterful old hotel, positioned centrally in the lovely little town of Woodbridge. It is old so floors are uneven and stairs are quite steep, but they are quite clear about this in the booking, so if you do have any mobility issues ask for a room on the lowest floor possible. The room was decent, the shower room a bit dated (but not unexpected) but totally serviceable. I didn't have dinner here but the standard and presentation of breakfast was very good. Must compliment all the staff on reception, evening bar and morning breakfast; all first class, happy, welcoming and helpful. When it is as consistent as this, it does indicate a well run establishment.

Car parking is very limited (you can book apparently). If you are just staying for the night you should be able to get parked on the road nearby, as I did, as long as you are away by about 8.30am in the morning.

Staff were exceptional. Sarah went out of her way to help us. When we arrived we hadn't reserved a parking space and the only space left was too small for our car, so we had to park at the station. Unfortunately we went to the wrong station and finished up 2 miles from the hotel. we got a taxi and told Sarah what we were doing. Upon arrrival at the hotel she met us and paid for the taxi. She also arranged for complimentary parking at the hotel for the remainder of our stay . The following day she had David [ her husband] drive us to collect our car and also upgraded our room. All staff were excellent and breakfast was good. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Everything was very good and we were completely satisfied. Until it came to Wednesday morning we both became unwell, first my husband then myself. We hadn't eaten anywhere else other than the hotel, just a coffee and ice cream in Southwold during the day., after eating such a big breakfast. We had a meal in your restaurant on Tuesday evening all very good. Except we had wait nearly an hour for our food. We were offered complimentary humous etc.which we accepted. My husband woke with stomach cramps on Tuesday morning (thinking he had eaten too much the night previous) we went down for breakfast, he had just the muesli and I had the muesli and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We checked out and drove to Thorpeness, where we hoped to stay for the remainder of the day. We were then going to stay with our son and family back in Woodbridge. Only at about 2ish I started to feel unwell and was violently sick. Because of the way we felt my husband drove for over 2hours home feeling really unwell. Now we don't know what caused this, we did phone the Hotel just to let them know, but we haven't heard anything from. All in all we had a really good stay at The Bull but sadly it didn't finish well.

We treated ourselves to the top suite as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, it was lovely and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The cooked breakfast was fantastic, great quality ingredients. The pub has a real buzz about it in the evenings and the location is great, very central and just a short walk down to the river (I highly recommend a walk down the river towards Martlesham, beautiful nature and lots of wading birds). All the staff we met were very friendly too.

I would suggest looking into more sustainable alternatives to all the miniature toiletries in plastic bottles e.g. refillable glass dispensers. Also the bathroom seemed to be missing a toilet brush.

My husband has mobility issues, so we booked a parking space and were assigned the one right by the door for easy access. The lovely receptionist (sadly, I don't have her name ) was brilliant, with a bright, cheery welcome. She insisted on carrying our bag from the car to our room, again given to us for ease, not too many steps. The room was charming with older period furniture and the colours of the curtains and décor were calming. The room also had hand-made shortbread with plenty of tea and coffee supplies. A small ironing board and iron there which I used and rarely have found available. We booked in for dinner the service was superb as was the food you couldn't fault anything. A good night's sleep it was so quiet and a wonderful breakfast with a great choice on the menu. Again great service, the receptionist from the day before asked us if we had a good meal and slept well. Oh, and she also recommended a great blush prosecco for me which I had with my meal. Outside the Bull Inn, there is a good amount of seating with flower troughs with an abundance of fresh herbs growing in them which was great the soft smell of sage and thyme. It was such a lovely stay we would certainly go there again. The location was really good with ease of access to Woodbridge with some really good niche shops and restaurants. The staff were just perfect. Just a wonderful stay

Lovely hotel with an amazing team running it. All the staff (and the owner) were very friendly. Also in the restaurant and bar for breakfast and dinner, all the staff were really nice and the service was great. Its an old building with lots of character, but the rooms are modern, comfortable beds, powerful shower etc. The local shortbread biscuits left in the rooms was a nice touch, Woodbridge itself is also a beautiful village, with a great high street with lots of independent shops. I strongly recommend this hotel (and restaurant) to anyone visiting the area.

We travelled with our small baby and when I called to enquire about our room having space for a travel cot, we were upgraded to the family room in the annexe, which was very much appreciated. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the shower was good. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. The staff were really helpful and super friendly.

Parking is extremely limited and the spaces tight, though given the geography of the pub and the area this is unavoidable! The pillows were a bit flat and would benefit from being upgraded. It didn’t bother us on this occasion, but in a family room I would expect a bathtub. We stayed during a heatwave and although there was a small fan provided, the room was exceptionally hot, which was a bit of a worry when travelling with a baby.

Staff we're very welcoming and helpful, the food was excellent and as it's from local suppliers was full of flavour and cooked well The room was very comfortable and clean, being an old building it's full of character and definitely different, the location is close to the shops and town centre.

Minor things like we were close to the kitchen so could smell cooking but that's to be expected and didn't bother us really, Perhaps the tv could be on a swivel bracket so it could be seen from the bed These are slight issues but not detrimental to the pleasure of our stay

Room clean and comfortable. Substantial, tasty breakfast despite not offering cereals. Central location for the area is ideal. Staff were attentive and most obliging.

My one complaint, which might have had very serious consequences both for myself and the hotel, is that hidden beneath a carpeted stair, there was a hole, the depth of the step below. I was unlucky enough to place my walking stick on this area, when ascending. Several inches of the stick went through the aperture, when I leaned my weight upon the stick. The result of falling over backwards was severe bruising and shock. It ruined my last day in Suffolk. A member of staff was most concerned and offered some sympathy. "The Bull" should be grateful that I am not a 'serial litigant'. This one incident has prevented my returning an overall rating of 'excellent', and spoiled what had been an enjoyable visit.

The rooms were perfectly set up for a comfy stay, with particularly great beds. The entire Inn is so much more charming than the photos show and the stay includes an AMAZING complimentary breakfast. It's also very centrally located making it a perfect spot to visit the region from. Special mention of the staff who were incredibly helpful as we were coming for a wedding and needed to change before our check in time which they allowed us to do in one of their already clean rooms then took care of our luggage - they really went above and beyond to help us.
