With a Booking.com Genius discount this place punches well above its weight. The room service was so fast it was if the chap who brought it came from a butler's cupboard next to the room. This place probably has the best location of any half decent hotel in Ipswich. Less than 5 minutes in cab to all the fun central locations and a two minute walk from possibly the best cocktail bar int the East of England. I suspect this may be the best hotel in Ipswich central. The rooms are lovely with balconies and a view.

The tech is a little outdated so bring your phone charger plugs because there are no USB charging points

Arrival, beware of the 0ne way system as it was easy to miss the access into the hotel. Being 10 minute stroll to town centre (.03 of a mile) allowed us the day to explore. Upon arrival, staff were attentive and very helpful. The room was pleasant and being on the second floor, it was quiet and contained some original features of the buildings history.. Having a balcony it did allow a partial view of the marina and with the door open, we enjoyed listening to the live music from nearby brewery bar. Breakfast was good but we were a little rushed, due to the fried breakfast arriving while we were eating our fruit / yogurt starter. We also needed to request sauces, additional milk etc, from additional staff member as ours seemed to forget to ask if required. Overall though we enjoyed our stay.

Feeling a bit rushed at breakfast but I believe this to be an isolated incident.

We stayed there after our wedding reception. We chose the hotel because of the location being close to the reception venue but also because we love the waterfront. We loved the bed, balcony and general feel of the room. My wife needed some hair spray for her hair and the recpetion team quickly arranged this for her which was greatly appreciated.

The shower facilities were not as good as i expected for the cost of the room. It all seemed a little small and crammed in. The room only had a little fan, which didn't really do a lot to cool us down, so we ended up leaving the balcony doors open when we tried to sleep. When we returned after our reception, we had to ring the doorbell around 5 times and wait about 5 minutes before we were let in by the night manager. No apology as to why it took so long but we were worried at one point that we wouldn't be able to get in. Breakfast was nice, but slightly overpriced for the amount of food you got with a cooked breakfast.

What a lovely hotel. The building, decor, room and facilities, including the restaurant, are all excellent. More importantly than that though, the staff were professional, attentive and friendly, from check-in, room service and valet parking, they couldn't have been more helpful We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at the hotel and won't hesitate to stay there again on our next visit to the area. Highly recommended.

There was nothing to dislike, but, if pushed, we did feel that the breakfast, although excellent, was somewhat over priced. £14 for a bacon sandwich, no matter how good, is a bit steep. But that's just nitpicking and it didn't distract in any way from our stay.

Beautiful location right on the marina with fantastic views. Lovely rooms, amazing shower, comfy beds and great tea/coffee/ selection. Friendly and helpful staff, from chambermaids to receptionists, and the bar, waiting staff were fantastic. Wonderful dinner and breakfast, would have stayed longer will definitely come back.

Everything was lovely but if I had to be picky, it’s fine allowing dogs into the hotel but to allow them to sit on the seats in the reception area isn’t hygienic especially if people are allergic. Also we had a fantastic booth in the restaurant but it was very close to a pillar, therefore staff were squeezing past our table constantly which wasn’t a problem but intrusive.

Location excellent. Food, breakfast was very good. Room was great but no drawers for knickers etc. overall thoroughly enjoyed although a bit above price I would normally pay. As this was my first break since 2020 thought we would splash out a bit. Ipswich has a special place in my heart as my mother came from here and we spent lots of years enjoying our summer holiday here visiting my gran. I visit every couple of years and I feel it is like coming home. If only my mum was still alive to know this.

Just like somewhere to store my smalls or mediums.

We were complimentary upgraded by the hotel as we stayed there ro get ready for my wedding and our wedding night, nothing was too much trouble food was amazing and the porter was so helpful he was up and down to our room with every request in record time he was also very friendly, the bath was lovelt and water veey hot, the tea and coffee was great and the bed was amazing and comfortable the stay added to our special day

The toilet roll holder was loose in the bathroom and the bath had a big stain on the side, the kettle wouldn't fit in the sink to fill for water

The Salthouse is a very comfortable hotel with views of the marina at Ipswich and close to shops in the town centre. Ipswich has a fine array of old buildings many from the seventeenth century and before - well worth a visit. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The in-room breakfast was excellent. There is good well-managed on-site parking. Ipswich is close to world-class heritage sites including Flatford Mill, the location for many of the paintings of the eighteenth and nineteenth century painter John Constable.

The curtains in the room were coming off their hooks and a light in the bathroom needed to be changed. The hotel offers good food but nearby restaurants were poor. Ipswich itself is a little bit neglected.

Comfortable bed, everything just so in the room. Excellent early dinner which was good value too.

Ipswich needs sorting out. Gaping holes around redundant churches, derelict shops. The waterfront is nice but the wider city needs help. It could do with parks where the building sites are, and more historic buildings open to the public who can then help fund them. Expensive, yes, but what’s it costing the city now in lost business? Not the lovely hotel’s fault, though, and they do a great job.

lovely location on the harbour, beautiful renovation of what we assume was a warehouse, super bedroom, well equipped and spacious, friendly and efficient staff, excellent breakfast

unfortunately slept relatively poorly despite very comfortable bed. Window sound proofing was poor meaning we were kept awake by outside revellers until the small hours. Bedroom (205 ) was located on the corner of the hotel overlooking the car park, which seems to be used as a late night thoroughfare for people leaving the bars. The glazing needs upgrading.
