The Windermere Hotel, London

Everyone at the Windermere were very welcoming and we had a lovely stay. Our beds were very comfortable and the ample breakfast was a great start to a day of walking around seeing the sights. The Victoria station is located a short stroll away and is a great hub to get you around London as it has the Underground and the National Rail there. Victoria coach station is also nearby. It is also close to a few great pubs for dinner (but most of London is!)

Nothing worth writing about. It was a very pleasant stay.

Very good central location, close to Bus/Train/Underground stations. Plenty of local pubs and restaurants, very diverse cuisines. Some small supermarkets within 300 m. Very nice and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast with some ingredients made in house, granola pot excellent. Room was very clean.

The room was small and facing a very busy road, with no double glazing windows, so noisy with traffic. Room entrance was just across from the Restaurant entrance. The shower room / toilet was extremely small and crammed, difficult to use the toilet. Sink was in the room, so a bit unusual. TV was positioned very high, on top of the wardrobe.

Walking distance to train, coach, and underground stations. About 5-10 min. depending which station you’re going to. Room is quiet-roomy with comfortable bed and pillows and small washroom with shower. Excellent water pressure. Hot water always available. Complimentary spring water and cookies. We appreciate the bath sheets after showering. Amenities in the washroom include hairdryer, shower cap, soaps and, most of all, face cloths. Breakfast is very good with copious portions. One can choose light or full breakfast. Staff is very accommodating with serving a light breakfast on very early mornings. Though good quality, the breakfast offered the same items daily. You need to reserve breakfast because they are very busy. Reception staff is very helpful. Rooms are kept very clean. Definitely would return to this establishment.

We were able to change to a room that better met our needs after we initially checked in. The breakfasts were really good and the service was excellent. The location and instructions on how to get from the train station to the hotel were good. There were lots of cafes in the area and very walkable area, not far from trains and busses.

The original room we were given was very dank and musty, especially the tiny bathroom. My allergies kicked in immediately and I could barely breathe. Fortunately for us, there was one room left in the hotel so we were able to change. We wouldn't have been able to stay in the original room.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Victoria Station is an 8-minute walk from the hotel, providing access to all major attractions. Some of them are even within 20-30 minutes walking distance. Yet it is located in a very quiet area. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The owners are charming and attentive. They made a point of greating all breakfast guests with a little conversation, every morning. The breakfast was delicious, really English. :) Maybe the portion could be a bit bigger :) Our room was small but very comfortable and extremely clean and tidy. It met all our needs. Coffee, tea and filtered water available in rooms, which is really a nice touch. In fact, the hotel exceeded our expectations. Overall we were very satisfied and will definitely return.

The Windermere Hotel is in a quiet area of London but within walking distance to most attractions, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace,the aLondon Eye and more. The Windermere is extremely clean and the staff very helpful and always appear happy. The owner and his wife are a lovely couple who go out of their way to meet your needs during your stay with them. I was taken aback by the complimentary breakfast. You had choices that would please all travellers, and the amount of food you received was more than expected. Whilst the hotel does not offer lunch or Dinner, there are a number of places close by to get a great meal to end off your day. The rooms are quiet and air conditioned which I was thankful for as during my stay the temps soared to 31 so coming back and having aircon was a welcome relief. This Hotel exceeded my expectations. I would certainly recommend the Windermere for anyone looking for a smaller hotel with an elevator that offers excellent service. I will certainly be back.

The hotel staff was friendly, helpful. The breakfast was lovely, and it was great that they had wine, cocktails and snacks available for purchase in the evening. Great to have a kettle in my room. Although my room was small, it was perfectly adequate for my needs.

I did wish that I had been closer to things (for ex., I would have loved to find a pub close by). Yes, the Victoria Station area is near, but the hotel was on the farthest side from the Underground station, closer to the bus station.

The hotel was clean, quiet (even on new year's eve) and the staff friendly, especially at the breakfast. We had a room under the roof with nice views over the neighbourhood. The breakfast is served in a small room with only 20 seats so you may be required to book a time in advance. You can get coffee/tea and fruit juice plus a choice from croissant or yogurt and cereals, and in addition you can choose from a selection of toasts with eggs (salmon, avocado, sausages, beans, mushrooms, etc.). It was really good! Location was convient for us. Close to Victoria station and walking distance (20 min) from Westminster Abbey. It felt also very safe.

The room was large enough to feel comfy but the toilets and bathroom are super small.This is unfortunately often the case in London! May be not ideal for families with you kids. The price was in my opinion a bit too high for what you get, but this is London and we stayed for New Year's eve. There's no restaurant very close by, so you'll have to walk a little bit to find a place to eat. Not a big problem.

I had a very clean, comfortable single room. Hotel is in a quiet residential area but not too far from Victoria rail and tube stations. Good breakfast menu with choice of hot and cold items. Tea / coffee tray was replenished daily. I was able to leave my bag at the hotel, when I checked out of my room, to collect later in the day - much appreciated.

It seems a bit odd to describe the breakfast as 'complimentary' rather than say it was included in the price of the room but service was excellent and hot food freshly cooked so not a problem.

The Windermere Hotel is fabulous. What a really lovely property. Owned and run by a family who clearly a have a commitment to customer service. Absolutely wonderful establishment. I had booked a twin room for myself and a friend as I was having surgery. I realised that I was not on the ground floor and needed to change this as I would be on crutches and I will not go in a lift. Our room was upgraded immediately. Unfortunately my surgery was postponed, but our upgraded room was honoured even when. I sent an email to inform the hotel of the change. I absolutely recommend this hotel and I will be returning. Fabulous room. Wonderful Breakfast Selection. All Complimentary. 5 star experience.
