Holiday Inn Manchester West, an IHG Hotel

Comfy beds. Good shower. Room was immaculately clean. Easy parking for my luton van. Great breakfast with good selection and very well cooked and presented. Good bar (open late). Staff throughout are very professional and friendly. The soaps in the shower are a little weird. Nice but weird. Parsley stem soap and some purple shampoo. It's all a bit too modern for me but I'm sure some of you kids will love it. I can consume my vitamins orally and don't need two of my five a day delivered transdermally. Just give me good old fashioned soap please. I put this in the good section coz somebody will love it.

Room 126 - air con unit was quite loud on the lowest fan speed. it looked quite an old unit. Also the bedside phone charger was built into the lamp, however there were two of us and only one charger socket - oh and it wasn't working. So we both had to charge our phones clear across the other side of the room. That's quite inconvenient. Curtain track was "drooping" on both panels. Fortunately I am quite old and know how these things go together so I got my tall son to move the last hook to the final loop and replace it on the track. Hey presto we fixed the drooping curtain but it is still missing a few clips.

I had three Special Request, all of which were met without any fuss. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Manchester West on three previous occasions and it has met my expectations on all four visits.

I felt that the area of the room we were allocated (Room 1) was rather too small and with too little storage for a couple staying for three nights. However, this could have been because it met two of my Special Requests - near Reception & on the Ground Floor. As we left, emphasising that it was constructive criticism and not a complaint, we suggested that the folding shower screen be given close attention because it was allowing very copious amounts of water to leak onto the floor, not only flooding the bathroom but also flowing out into the room. Restoration of a watertight shower screen would make a considerable improvement!

Hotel was in a great location for what we wanted, staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. We also had food in the evening before we left the hotel which was nice and good value for money.

The light switches in the room were a little confusing, if one wasn't flipped a certain way the bathroom light switch didn't work. Not the biggest issue but took a little figuring out. Also the bathroom door was a slide door which was a bit stiff and when closed didn't sit properly against the wall, this meant there was a gap and you could hear everything the other person was doing in the bathroom.

1st check in, yours staff was make me shocked (the young lady- slim), she give me a ground floor room no 4, It’s for the senior people or disabled people used room. The toilet was not suitable for us. I suggest you need to provide training for the new joint in stafff to know more about this title course. Luckily another young man and lady who work in the bar they both good doing they service to us,they helpful and friendly. Thank you.

At breakfast on the 1st morning there was a rude female server. She insisted we hadn’t paid for breakfast and we should go to the desk to pay, they confirmed we had and would sort it on system. The next morning to be asked for the same again as wanted sorted. on the 1st morning the female server was rude when someone asked about a decaffeinated tea, saying I’m getting now you’ll have to wait. Then when a complaint was made about her when sorting out that breakfast was paid for, she stared rudely at our table several times. The server really fainted what was a lovely stay otherwise.

Good value with parking included. We stayed for the Test match at Old Trafford about 2 miles away which was an easy walk. The city centre is only about a mile away but we found a great real ale pub in Salford (The New Oxford) only a few minutes walk away so stayed there. The hotel staff were very attentive and the breakfast was excellent with good quality ingredients. Quiet location and comfortable beds. I even got the iconic Salford Lads Club selfie which was only half a mile away. Would certainly stay again

Breakfast on the first morning was poor, most hot items were finished and had to wait 10 minutes to have it replenished, when we arrived there was one slice of bread for toast, no sausage, mushrooms, scrambled egg, black pudding or beans this was a 9am. Staff were disinterested and ineffective. The following day was totally different with different staff and good service. The shower leaked all over the floor as there was no seal on the bath screen to stop water running under the screen.

We stayed in an executive king room. The room was thoroughly cleaned. Comfortable mattress. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water. We had a tea tray with a kettle and a small fridge in the room. There was an iron, ironing board and hairdryer already in the room. The bathroom has hand/body wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner in dispensers. The rooms have a slot to put your room card in to keep the lights on but you can put something like an old bonus card in these ones instead if one of you needs to take the key card and leave the other person in the room. There is a Starbucks machine downstairs for coffee. Check in and out were easy. There is a screen on the front desk to enter your car registration to use the car park. All of the staff we encountered were very professional. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar staff we encountered were great. Public areas were kept immaculate during our stay. If we return to the area we would stay here again.

The toilet paper that you can see through! Pillows felt like they were getting on in their life. The bathroom didn't seem to have an extractor fan? Cheap flimsy toilet seat in the room. The shower door had a small gap in the centre that let water out onto the floor if you weren't careful with the position of the shower head. We didn't really experience any noise from the road (cold, wet and windy weather meant the window stayed shut) but something to be aware of is the emergency service depots nearby means there are often sirens going off.

All the staff were very friendly and smiling, nothing was too much trouble. Our window would not shut and a kind member of staff sorted the problem out in no time. Food in the restaurant was lovely. Self service cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Coffee was also nice and everywhere was clean Very comfortable hotel and value for money.

Not a complaint however a piece of lemon with our fish and chips would of been appreciated as standard. My wife had Fresh Mussels this would of been better with a side salad instead of chips or as alternative on your menu. Asian people enjoy more vegatables and side salads not so much on chips.

The hotel is in a good location. If you are travelling by car there is free parking for guests. Breakfast was in good quality. Clean room with comfy bed - ideal option for the trip if you want to explore Manchester. AC in the room is a game changer for hot weather. Cleaning service every day. In the room, you can find the necessary facilities like towels, shampoo and body wash, kettle with tea set, iron/iron board, TV etc.
