This is supposedly Manchester’s finest hotel and it did not disappoint me and my partner. She was very impressed indeed. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had Champagne offered upon arrival which made it feel first class. The bed was very comfortable and the wardrobes lighting up whenever you open the doors was a nice touch. Air conditioning control panel was easy to use. Location is fantastic in the heart of the city.

Although the rainfall shower was very good and large enough for two comfortably I would have preferred a whirlpool bathtub. The toiletries were small and not enough for more than a single use. The hotel car parking was pricey even for Manchester City center. The restaurant which opened to much fanfare was closed down (known prior to arrival) although it was open for breakfast and food could be ordered via room service.

The hotel is in a magnificent building that has been tastefully and imaginatively restored. The concierge staff took great pride in walking us round their facilities, 'showing it off' and explaining its historical background. Full marks! Our room was spacious, warm, quiet and supplied with a range of extras that matched the high quality of the reception we received. In the basement is the Stirling - a cocktail bar that we would not normally have visited but which provided a friendly welcome in a warm and pleasantly subdued environment where conversation was a pleasure rather than a challenge. Breakfast was served in the beautifully decorated and spacious room that had previously been the Manchester Stock Exchange. The staff were appropriately attentive and responded quickly and efficiently to our menu choices. The lower cost chain hotels that we sometimes use cannot compete with the what the Stock Exchange offers we were made to feel like valued guests.

It is unusual for a hotel these days to serve breakfast as individual charged items, rather than buffet style. No doubt one reason for this is that is that it is a relatively small hotel and aims to provide individual, freshly prepared items. While this approach may make economic sense and provides quality cooked breakfasts, we would have loved the freedom of being able to take a second cup of coffee to finish off the meal, or eat a little fresh fruit for example,

Lovely luxury hotel in central Manchester. My room was very spacious, with good storage space and plenty of room to work. The restaurant is very good, in a lovely big room. The cocktail bar in the basement is lovely – moody and friendly. Staff were all excellent: really warm, friendly and helpful.

A couple of minor issues with the room. The pillows were not super-comfortable for me – but this is probably a personal thing. And the wifi is a bit irritating – you keep having to re-join it. More annoyingly, there was no mirror in the bathroom except the (magnifying) shaving mirror! There was a full-length mirror in the hallway, so I was able to comb my hair, etc using that. But it does seem a bizarre choice not to have a mirror in the bathroom itself.

Wonderfully restored building, with many of the original features retained and many of the newer and more modern elements a nod to the past. Beautiful high ceilings, with simple but elegant decor, bright, warm … and smells gorgeous. It felt like a luxury home from home. The staff were wonderfully welcoming, especially Jimmy and Aleksander. There was no stuffiness and they were genuinely interested in making the stay as comfortable as possible. The location is very central and easy to navigate. House keeping do a fantastic job!!! I didn’t get the change to try the food there but by all accounts it’s great. To the SX staff thank you for making it such a lovely stay and I look forwards to my next visit soon.

There really isn’t much if anything to dislike. The entrance is a bit meh … it would be so easy to cheer it up with some plants and flowers … I walked past it twice, as it looked a little like an office. Having more seating in the lobby waiting area or perhaps rearranging it be more welcoming - but it’s a small detail and I guess they have to work with the space they have. I stayed in suite 102 which has a terrace … having seating and proper table and plants / flowers on the terrace would have been a wonderful addition and would have meant I could actually used the terrace and would helped to brighten up the external elements of the building and make it stand out and more welcoming. Easy wins in my opinion.

When we arrived we were welcomed and taken to a lounge, given a glass of champagne and the member of reception team came to us to check us in. Our car was parked for us as we had pre-booked concierge parking. Price of parking was reasonable given the cost of parking in the city centre. Our luggage was then taken to our room for us. What a lovely welcome. The room was a nice size and the bed was really comfortable.

The room was lovely but only had shutters on the windows so the room was quite bright in the morning. Some blackout curtains/blinds would be a welcome addition.

We were upgraded on arrival to a lovely corner suite which was amazing. The room was spacious and lovely and clean. Very well decorated and met all of our needs for the night! The shower was incredible! We had a drink in the speakeasy bar in the basement that did a lovely cocktail and had a nice atmosphere about it.

My partner had a bath which leaked all over the floor whilst it was being filled. Additionally, with the main restaurant closed it was very quite atmosphere but we headed down to the Sterling bar which was lovely!

Having never visited Manchester, I did not know what to expect. I am spoiled as I live in Dubai, where our finest hotels and service always exceed expectations. The Stock Exchange is not only a stunning building, the staff were flawless too. Beautifully decorated for Christmas with an exceptional Christmas tree, we were warmly welcomed and ushered into the lounge with champagne (buy a bottle, it was incredible!) whilst our check in was arranged. The bar, the rooms, the exceptional restaurant for breakfast etc was breathtaking, I could not stop staring at all of the exquisite original features and the modern artworks. The location is perfect, so so quiet, then a few hundred yards to the main street. I wish I had taken ore photos, it was all videos as it was such historic architecture. I would go back in a heartbeat, and hope to make it back there this Summer. Thank you, to the team working there, I could not fault this place if I tried.

Nothing to dislike, perfection in a boutique hotel.

The location, staff friendliness, facilities and over all quality of the hotel was exceptional. The room was beautifully decorated to a high standard. The bathroom was very clean and very big. Couldn’t be any more central, had a really nice cocktail bar that wasn’t the usual soul less hotel bar but a nice place to relax. The concierge were excellent and the checkin and check out process was great. I stay in a lot of hotels and couldn’t find one negative with this one. Great hotel

All the staff were extremely pleasant. Champagne on arrival was a nice touch. I would recommend the parking concierge service, it made it so easy being able to park outside the front doors. We had room service twice for breakfast and it arrived in about 10-15 minutes. Hotel is centrally placed for pretty well everything. We just walked wherever we needed to go, umbrellas were provided if the Manchester rain came

The bar only served ales in 2/3 of a pint measures, instead of a standard pint. Picky I know, but that's probably all I could find fault with.
