We enjoyed everything! Even traveling with our 2 lads (11 & 9yrs) the stay was cracking. From the warm and inviting welcome to the moment we checked out, the stay exceeded our expectations. The George itself is a beautiful building full of character & charm, surrounded by others in the town much the same. There's not a straight wall or floor in sight, which just adds to the the character, and leads to the only item noted that our kids said stopped it getting a 10 out of 10! The room we had was large, functional, and very comfortable. Everything was clean & tidy, and my wife in particular found the bathroom charming with the claw-foot bath. We loved our stay, the food and service was excellent, and we'd highly recommend it anytime to those traveling either by themselves, as a couple or a family.

The only [very]minor issue was the lack of a conventional shower, but having folks who live in an old cottage, I totally appreciate how difficult it can be to fit one in older buildings etc. 1 point reluctantly taken off an otherwise wonderful stay! Loved it anyway.

Above a charming pub in the center of town, this made it easy to explore in our short amount of time here, I really liked the laid back, charming atmosphere of the pub, and the town in general. Room was large, and the included breakfast was really good. Soundproofing of the room once the windows were shut was impressive too.

Staff were friendly but communication was a bit lacking. We were left with a 4 quid extra charge that was only communicated via email after checkout, still not sure what its for, or how to pay it. We had a baby that they weren't aware was staying so I'm sure whatever the charge is for is reasonable, would have just been good to have it communicated at the time or at check out.

The breakfast was great. Full English. Good choices, good quality, friendly staff, nice view over historic clock tower. Responded to requests. The room was very comfortable. We slept well. Ensuite was clean and spacious. Tea and coffee making was very good, even had earl grey tea and biscuits. Venue was close to the places we wanted to go, Stourhead House and garden. Also lovely walks on Cranbourne chase. The town is interesting, nice friendly church and old ruined castle mound. Check in time was very flexible, great!

Can't think of anything.

Friendly lady at reception and serving breakfast, Large double room over looking the square number 2. Was very comfortable and clean and quiet. Had drinks in the evening, We had lunch on the way so no dinner but menu looked good and there were plenty eating there. Breakfast very good, full English nicely presented on warm plates, good coffee and fruit juice served. Also gluten free bread available which I needed. Will return to The Geoge at Mere in the near future to visit friends in Dorset.

No complaints there was ample off street parking

Although situated on the main road, it was very quiet. Our room size was extra large - the bathroom was a good size and had a double size shower - the restaurant was well laid out and had a good varied menu (our choice of fish & chip dinner was the best we had ever tasted) - country breakfast was cooked to order and the friendliness of landlords and staff made us feel relaxed.

Personal choice, but the mattress on the bed was a little too hard for me. We still had a good nights sleep!

Fabulous Inn a short drive from Stonehenge. Stayed to break up a long drive. Room 3 was large and comfortable. We had twin beds but they were comfortable and the room was clean. Food and drinks downstairs were delicious as was the breakfast. Hiked to the top of the hill behind the Inn for stunning views over the town and surrounds. All in all a great place to stay with friendly staff.

Some low ceilings for tall people but other than that all was super!

The room was lovely, we had a nice view down the highstreet. Breakfast was great, and they had a good range of hot options as well as cereals. We were allowed to pick up our key prior to being allowed in the room which was very helpful as we were off to a wedding and would have missed the check-in time.

We weren't allowed access to the room prior to the check-in time which was fine. But we were also told we couldn't use the bathroom while the pub was being cleaned to quickly get dressed before going to a wedding, which meant we had to get changed in the car, this was very annoying.

Comfortable bed and cosy room, with view to square. The location was good for us and conveniently just off the A303 . Great cooked breakfast to order, the Eggs benedict Royale was great.Best smoked Wiltshire back bacon ever all served with a smile. Nice bar atmosphere with log fire and reasonably priced restaurant.

Drafty bathroom window, could benefit by secondary glazing like the bedroom. Also would appreciate a bath robe hangar on the back of the door and a shelf for shampoo etc in the shower cubicle.

It was quaint. A real 17th century inn. It was clean handy for places we wanted to go. The owners and staff were all really friendly and pleasant. The food was excellent. Plenty of eating space. An outside beer garden and free parking on site.

Uneven floors but all adds to the character.

Dinner - was excellent , staff were extremely helpful Breakfast was perfect

Daughter has allergies so had to request a made up meal during dinner as no vegan / gluten free meal on menu and breakfast was tricky. BUT staff were extremely eagre to accomodate her and her needs. SO am hoping they will put the Advocado, olive salad on the menu as a regular option for vegan / gluten free customers as my daughter loved it.
