Best Western The Royal Chase Hotel

Having booked this hotel back in January we were excited to stay here so we could attend a friends wedding on Saturday. Like most weddings they are usually before your allotted checkin times. We did enquire before hand for a possible early check in and was told if it’s possible and room could be ready then they would do what they can. We arrived around 1230 to meet some friends and was told on arrival that the room was not ready. However within half and hr the lady on reception found us and told us that our room was available and we could check in. This was excellent news which allowed us to drop our luggage and freshen up before departing for the wedding. Thank you.

While we waiting we were told that the bar didn’t open until 3pm, and we could get a drink across the road. The half moon. Having walked over we found that this bar/pub was closed completely. Oh well Coffee it was then.

Good location, nice grounds which building is set in. Staff super friendly and accommodating! Pool facilities are really clean, convenient opening times from 7am - 9:30pm. Nice to come back from a day out and use the pool.

There isn’t a single thing I can say bad about my stay, neither can I say anything bad about the property.

Great parking, lovely greeting at reception, great room and facilities and a very ample breakfast. A lovely surprise after an appalling booking at the Three Tuns Chepstow and Booking Com refusing to refund us, we had already booked this trip or we may not have done so.

Nothing at all, a lovely stay and even a pool if wanted. We were worried having had a very bad experience with Booking Com after using the Three Tuns Chepstow which was appalling being dirty, unsafe and management with a no care attitude, Booking Com let us down with no refund at all.

My wife and I have no overseas holidays this year so I treated us to a quality hotel with one of their best rooms. We got exactly what we expected.

No issues with the hotel. My only suggestion is to improve the signage for the two electric charging bays. One was occupied all the time by a non-electric car. It would have been really nice if the charging bays had 7kW charging points which would have given me a full charge overnight rather than the 13A ones they have.

We only stayed one night as we were just passing through but it was exceptionally clean, the room & bathroom were of a decent size, it was nice & quiet, the facilities were good & we enjoyed our evening meal which was cooked & presented wonderfully. All the staff were very polite, friendly & helpful. I would definitely stay there again 😁👍

The breakfast was very nice - they had a choice of hot or cold. I had the full veggie which was great, while my partner enjoyed the continental style, they had a decent amount of options to choose from. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the pool and everything was kept very clean, although the hotel is a bit dated and could probably do with a refurb.

It would have been very helpful to have had air conditioning or a fan in our room. We were there on a very hot couple of days, and because we were on the ground floor I didn't feel particularly safe leaving the window wide open, especially because it opened from the side, not the top.

The spa facilities were lovely, especially the sauna. A great location and our room was quiet even though the Hotel is on a busy roundabout.

The cleaners need to put a bit more time into dusting in hard to reach or less obvious places (t.v, picture frames and shower cubicle.) cleaning just seems a little rushed.

Helpful staff, swimming pool.

1. On arrival there was a disagreement between myself and the receptionist because I had paid for the room plus breakfast Unfortunately because I am a Genius Member of Booking. Com this did not appear on their records. The situation was highly stressful after a long journey. 2. The bathroom was not cleaned properly on my arrival. It was cleaned the next day. Staff did try and put things right. They genuinely want to maintain the hotel at a high standard. 3. Food portions are too large and therefore food is not appetising.

The hotel was great - the facilities were spotlessly clean, a little dated maybe, but everything worked well. The best things about it was the staff. They were well organised, cheerful, and couldn't do enough for guests. This is a difficult period, when everyone is adjusting. There were no concerns at this hotel - all staff knew what they were doing. Special mention to the incredible Rachel in the restaurant, who was absolutely lovely, and even offered to make my daughter a sandwich when we had come back late one night and missed the restaurant. Also, the food is wonderful. Well above what we usually have in hotels. We even stayed longer to eat the magnificent carvery at Sunday lunchtime. The usual evening food was beautifully cooked, and tasted great. The chef even made his own homemade tartar sauce for the fish & chips. Most hotels simply use the sachets. There is real pride here in what food goes out to guests, and it really shows. We only heard praise for the food and accommodation from other guests when we were there. The pool was large, well heated, and very clean. We hope to come again.

Nothing really. The rooms were all large and very clean. Very happy with our stay.

We didn’t have the breakfast as we were only in the area for a concert & had to get off back to Worcestershire. Really enjoyed the hotel, the staff were so helpful. Room met all our expectations Thank you

Lovely building but you could make more of the outside. More tables & chairs for a drink & that flat lawn at the front could be fantastic???
