The welcome and every single interaction with staff was outstanding. We felt so welcomed and looked after. The room was lovely and had all necessities (plus additional toiletries and excellent coffee/tea etc). We stayed in a small double room but the decor was lovely and suited us well. Breakfast was delicious and there were a range of continental options to go alongside the hot breakfast.

Since it was summer and not a breeze overnight, the room was quite warm. I didn’t ask whether there were fans though so maybe there were. The bed was a little on the soft side and sagged a bit on one side but didn’t affect sleep too much.

First visit for c.20 years, in which time the hotel has changed hands - old owners now live across the road. Still achieves a very high standard - particularly pre-dinner canapés & food in general. Also, provision of things like power blocks with USB ports in the bedrooms makes 21st century life with electronic devices a little easier

New owner seems to have a thing about 1920’s decor, which we found odd, in a Victorian building. Lots of rather naff Art Deco mirrors & overly large furniture, all of which seemed out of place. Service for one of our two dinners whilst staying was exemplary - sadly, the other one was a a bit chaotic. Over an hour’s wait for our first course & mains followed moments after we finished our starters. Three breakfasts all went perfectly

The breakfast was lovely good variety friendly attentive staff nothing was too much trouble for them. Checking in and out was simple and efficient. The car park was a good size and was able to park right outside the door. The evening meal was well presented and tasty and all was good value for money.

I would have appreciated a fan as even with the window open it was quite stuffy. Other than that I still slept well once I was able to fall asleep.

Hugh was amazing, he made you feel instantly welcome, even coming out to the car when we arrived to help unload luggage and bring it inside. We had dinner there and were once again treated exceptionally. Breakfast was also scrumptious with extensive selections. My 17-year-old son can not stop talking about the amazing experience he had at this hotel and he has traveled extensively in his short life. I also cannot say enough about this place.

Wish we could have stayed longer.

Breakfast was lovely and a good choice. Evening meal was also superb. A good spot for seeing North Norfolk. Room was very comfortable, we had a small double and there wasn't a lot of room but it had everything we wanted and was fine for a long weekend.

Although the evening menu was lovely, and the extras were appreciated it would have been nice to have a more basic menu as well. We probably would have had more than one evening meal if there was. Can't eat a la carte every night!!!

The staff are the highlight of this hotel, they were superb and so friendly and helpful. We stayed for one night but were made to feel very at home. We ate in the restaurant and had the taster menu. This was very professionally staged and again the staff were very attentive. Another highlight was the Panna Cotta, it was excellent.

Only slight complaint was the pillows in the bed were extremely soft. They were totally flat when you rest your head, but overall the room was excellent. The taster menu was 7 courses but very generously portioned which made it hard to finish, tho this isn't really a complaint... Getting too much food!

This was a proper pampering experience, from the moment we arrived when a staff member took our luggage from the car to the final goodbye. Full trust was obvious as we did not have to sign for any items during our stay and they knew us by name and what room we were in. The food was excellent.

We had not pre-booked an evening meal so we ate a bit later than we would have liked but I may have missed the necessity and similarly the breakfast times available were a bit earlier than we would have liked. A minor point about our quaint but rather splendid bathroom was that the shelf above the wash basin made it difficult to simply wash your face.

Everything. Lovely staff, nice room, great food beautifully presented, nice peaceful garden, lots of information about what was available in the area to see and visit, the art deco furnishings, the waiting staff who were so well-mannered and informed as well as being friendly and helpful. Everyone just smiled. The location was great too.

It would have been good if we had been notified before we arrived, that the taster menu had to be ordered ahead of time. We would have ordered it if we had known. Also we hadn't picked up that menu 1 and 2 represented alternate days, Had we known we would have made different evening arrangements for eating.

Informative helpful staff especially the Manager, wonderful food, comfortable room and facilities. Location. Art Deco furniture and artwork

The constant "Sorry to interrupt" statement from the servers grated after a while. Unfortunately my feeble mind is blown if I'm mid sentence and someone interrupts, it tarnished the atmosphere a bit for me, but realise they have a job to do and it's probably what they are instructed to say. Service seemed to be below par on Sunday evening when the general manager was on his day off! But generally excellent service but very noticeable when things slightly slip. Ran out of Vodka at the weekend! Disappointed that the menu only seemed to have a three day rotation. (Same menu as Friday as Sunday) although food is 5 star.

The location is ideal - just a few minutes' walk from the town centre. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfast was very good, and the room was comfortable (but see below).

The only downside was the lack of air conditioning, which is fast becoming a necessity for summer hotel bookings. On request we were provided with a fan, which did help somewhat.
