Holiday Inn Northampton, an IHG Hotel

The welcome at reception on arrival was very professional and the gentlemen (sorry I didn't notice his name) made us very welcome. The receptionist the following day was very helpful also. A special mention to Rita who served us at breakfast shouldn't go without a mention either. I hope you will be able to link back the date to the work rota and acknowledge them.

The shower soap container was empty and it was difficult to reach the sink container as an alternate. and Probably something to do with my age! but had trouble trying to order a drink the first night in the bar using the covid barcode set up. We gave up as the barman was of no help at all and obviously not interested. All was well though as on leaving the receptionist saved the day by resolving the issue and therefore we did enjoyed our night cap after all.

The beds were big & comfy, the property clean & we really liked the policies in place to reduce the use of single use plastics & water

The staff at breakfast were obviously under a lot of pressure, as there was only 1 staff member dedicated to facilitating breakfast who was being helped by the receptionist. Both were so lovely and helpful and we felt very sympathetic to the fact that they were clearly trying to do the job of several people. We ended up leaving and not staying for breakfast as there was no coffee and it was all getting a bit stressful. We had breakfast elsewhere even though it was included in the price of our room.

Clean room, staff were friendly and happy to help when we needed extra towels and were were friendly when greeted for check in was child friendly the family room was a good size!! would recommend for people travelling on business or if you need a room for a few nights while some renovation work is being done which was the case for us, nice breakfast hot and cold it was COVID safe with everything individually rapped which was nice to see.

Very noisy road outside if you have your window open but to be expected as it’s near a very busy road

The reception staff was friendly and efficient. The room was easy to find. The room was clean and quiet and had a nice modern bathroom. The two double beds were comfortable and with good lighting in the room.

The car park was a little far from the main entrance, so you will get wet if it rains! Our room had a faint odour to it, something similar to cigarettes. I put this down to the air-con system as you could also smell it outside as you walk past the air-con vents to get to the car park.

It was great to have a very attractive dining area on site, for our overnight stay. We both had a delicious meal. Staff were really excellent here, as it is a hard time at the moment for all in the hospitality business. We had problems with our window and had to change rooms. All dealt with promptly and with great politeness. Very impressed.

They just need to check the window locks throughout occasionally as two rooms had problems, and the heat of the last 10 days meant we were desperate to have windows that opened.

The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent, the room size very good, food plenty of selection and well prepared. The staff were very helpful and willing to please.

There is very little to dislike for the hotel in general but, may I suggest that it would be beneficial to have an illuminated sign for the hotel at the entrance as it proved difficult to see when returning in the dark.

with covid restrictions in place the breakfast was a take away service and was good to have available during the stay, Hotel very clean and room was cleaned daily, would have liked to have stayed when covid restrictions had been lifted

Comfortable bed.Clean room and excellent breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Choice of food for lunch and dinner. On the main website there was a very good selection of lunch/dinner choices but when we were at the hotel there was only a small amount of choice on their menus. We were told that the website menu was 'the old menu'.

The member of staff who checked me in was really polite and helpful - great customer service. The room was very clean upon arrival - my partner and I always give everything a wipe down before we get comfortable and this room was better than some of the other hotel rooms I have had since the end of the national lockdown. The building had adequate COVID-19 measures in place - this was really reassuring.

Car park is poorly lit at night and right around the back of the hotel, so it felt like the car park wasn’t safe... especially because other hotels along the dual-carriageway (Grange Park, just down the A43) have an ongoing issue with car break-ins in their carparks. The room was really nice for the price - only fault would probably be the unconventional heater/AC. It made a racket and the heater was quite poor - it got quite cold.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Liked the location for our needs.

Found the chef on our second morning not so accommodating, however felt he could have had someone else to help him as he was busy preparing food for a conference as well as doing breakfast. A lot to have to deal with for one chef.
