Fantastic rural location with beautiful countryside views but not too far from St. Ives or Penzance. Very friendly, cosy pub. We had a hearty evening meal and a full English breakfast in the morning. A large bedroom with plenty of storage. Ideal for disabled travellers. Very good value for money.

We stayed in the downstairs apartment but we could hear the family above walking around, the green fire exit lights were quite bright. Very tiny point but just needed spoons with the coffee and tea facilities. The disabled bathroom had a bit of mould on it. There is no Wi-Fi at the moment.

We loved that the accommodation was in a separate building out back. They had a live duo on in the pub that night (Saturday) and it was fantastic. They had board games for us to play in the inn. Breakfast was delicious and the accommodation was spacious. Staff were super friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome.

My burger at tea wasn’t cooked properly but they fully refunded it and were very apologetic. There were some crumbs on the floor of the accommodation and the bathroom wasn’t super clean but it didn’t bother us for one night.

Nice Rural location and a comfortable bed. Staff were very welcoming

There was no WiFi which seems very odd in this day and age . It was advertised as such but there was no phone signal either which makes WiFi critical.. The web site has a very good menu on it and we were looking forward to an ice dinner. The reality however was pie, burger or scampi which was very disappointing. We wanted the squid and beetroot and squash wellington.

Chose The Engine Inn at very short notice for a brief visit to Lands End and it turned out to be a delightful place to stay, beginning with a friendly greeting on arrival. Our accommodation was the first floor of a separate stone walled building, cleverly converted to provide ample space for three adults. Excellent interior design & decoration, nicely furnished, clean and tidy. The Engine Inn is an attractive country pub in a lovely location but on a closer look it is more than that – an unintentional museum of local life, including tin mines and sailing ships, which serves good food and beer.

No complaints about anything but some travellers might need to check about mealtimes and, due to the location, cell phone and internet connections are not always reliable.

This is such a lovely place to stay, rooms are spacious and comfortable and set alone with lovely grounds and amazing views. Large beer garden and play area. Located just outside St Ives which is easy to get to by car, bus or lots of friendly taxi services, can recommend Matt who is a local driver, ask behind the bar for his business card. The hosts Mark and Jon are welcoming and friendly as are the bar staff Amanda, Anna and Brian. Breakfast is amazing and Anna goes out of her way to make you what you want (thanks for the tinned tomatoes) 🥰 evening meals are great too but would advise to book especially on a Friday where they do two fish & chips for the price of one. All in all this is a great place to stay where the staff and locals are always welcoming and friendly!

Breakfast was very good. Location was in a lovely area. Plenty of parking and very reasonably priced drinks which were not over priced. The red Chilean wine was exceptional and my wife will visit for more of it sometime in the near future.

I suppose sound proofing the floor above the ground floor apartment of the barn would be welcome as we did experience some noise from the children staying overhead but we accept that it had been children and could not be helped but sound proofing might have helped to eliminate it. Even so, we appreciate that it was an old building and we thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

A wonderful escape to the country, only 10minutes from St Ives, middle of nowhere, fields and nature, pub was a proper pub , don't expect to get Wi-Fi or phone signal at times but we liked that , made to feel very welcome by staff and customers, cannot wait to return.

Really can't think of anything we didn't like , it was the perfect get away from everything kind of stay that we needed.
