Hotel Penzance

Superb location, very near to bus, Scilly Ferry and rail stations, lovely warm bathroom. Comfortable bed. Light and airy room with stunning views. Very nice staff. Excellent wifi Really enjoyable stay and would heartily recommend.

Sound proofing a bit lacking. No information pack in room and had to ask re WiFii password, meal times, restaurant menus etc. Not a big problem as staff always helpful but a couple of sheets of info would have been nice. Lots of hanging space but no cupboards or drawers? Flat clothes kept in suitcase. Not really serious complaints as stay was lovely - this. Is just feedback

Good option to stay in Penzance. Very close to the tration station but removed from the noise and traffic of the centre. Staff is generally helpful and nice. Nice and warm welcoming at the reception, where we also got a first set of information to plan our activities in the area. Room was spacious and clean.

The breakfast can be described modest and average at best. The hotel feels a bit tired. For what it offers I would call it slightly overpriced, although I understand Penzance is very touristic and other options would not necessarily be cheaper. I would call it OK value for money, but just about.

The hotel was lovely, better than expected. Very comfortable room, even if it was a little warm. Generous coffee and tea sachets, as well as snacks. The manager Saurabh was welcoming and very friendly. Good breakfast. Felt sorry we were leaving after a night's stay.

Would have given hotel a 10, if the room was airconditioned. It was a little warm but we opened a window and that cooled the room. Bathroom was good size and had nice toiletries. Pity that the shower area didnt have a raised or lowered area to keep the water in. The mat was pretty soaked. Other than that small inconvenience, it was good.

The room was big, very clean and comfortable with a great view of the harbour and St Michael’s Mount. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Breakfasts were great - and the one evening meal that we had was very good. Location was fine - within easy reach of bus and train station and town centre. The bonus was an outdoor pool which we used on several occasions during our stay.

room was nice and clean with lovely table with tea, coffee and goodies. The only problem was the shower that flooded. We told reception and they said they know but cannot do anything at the moment, intend to fix it in the future. Another unconvinience was the keys which often did not open the door and we had to go back to reception to fix them. Breakfast was great! good coffee, plenty of good food, variety of cheese, bread, fruits etc.

We found the Hotel Penzance to be a really nice and very comfortable hotel. It's up on the hill alongside the station, formed of two big Victorian houses knocked together, and has been extended and improved over the years. Some of the rooms have brilliant sea views, with our friend's room having an excellent view along the coast to St Michael's Mount. It's exceptionally well kept with brilliant friendly and helpful staff making for a seamless stay with a level of polish and sophistication that you'd expect in a big city. There's a bar where we had a drink before heading out to dinner (at the Tolcarne Inn) and a restaurant that also serves as the breakfast room, with a small terrace. Our smaller room had a view over the kitchen roof, with a granite retaining wall and Japanese bamboo. In the morning a seagull came and sat outside, and inspected us carefully. The smallish bathroom was immaculate and the shower worked well. We'll book earlier next time to get a view.

Our room at the back had the sound of the kitchen exhaust fan, which turned off only after midnight and started again early in the morning.

It would not be very friendly for people in wheelchairs. It is a very petty complaint but we found the music playing in the downstairs/restaurant areas a little loud and dramatic (some kind of dramatic 80s love songs album?) for the relaxed mood we were aspiring to have. Would have preferred something a little more chill or instrumental while enjoying my breakfast.

Nothing major, the only very slightly strange thing for me was the background music in the restaurant , which when you enter it , makes you think it will serve bar style food, until you get the excellent menu you realise it is a proper restaurant, a fact backed up by the quality of food served up which was excellent..

na. The property was great as were the staff. There was an error with Booking.com in which the property that we had two rooms. I spent about an hour and a half on the phone during our only lights day which happened to be our anniversary trying to sort this out with Booking.com. Still have not heard how booking.com plans to reimburse me for my time and hardship.

The staff were very helpful and happy to serve you. The views from the hotel especially the dining room were very good. The hotel was very clean and the furnishings were good quality. The food was of a high standard and well presented.

Notwithstanding this is a quality hotel over three floors, with prices to match, however NO LIFTS! I don't recall seeing this fact in the hotel description. Further, if you arrive by train and decide to walk the short distance there is a challenging hill up to reception. If you arrive by car then no problem. I was informed by the hotel that they have twin rooms on a lower level but these had been requested prior to our arrival. In fairness, to the hotel they were happy to get our cases up to the room. If you have problems with stairs (two main flights) you need to check this out with the hotel before you book. Apart from this we were happy with our stay.
