The reception was very friendly and helpful and the room was a good size and very comfortable. The refurbishment of the whole building was very well done, with great character, and the quiet location was very good for us. The breakfast was of good quality.

The self-service arrangement at breakfast wasn't immediately obvious, and wasn't initially explained to us by the staff. The bedroom window was not easy to open, being a heavy sash that was too high to reach safely, and the cooling fan provided was rather noisy. There was only one coat-hanger, fortunately this did not bother us for one night but seemed a bit odd. The restaurant was also closed on this occasion, again it didn't bother us but may have been an issue for some guests.

Staff very friendly and professional. Thought the included breakfast was very good value - if anything (for me) perhaps too big, but very tasty. Excellent location for what I needed, being close to the town centre.

Staying for a full week I would have liked the option to be able to stay in the hotel for food during the evening - even if a limited menu. Mainly because several restaurants in the town do not open Mon-Weds, limiting choice/options. However, I do appreciate that this would involve greater staffing requirements with not guarantee that guests would eat.

This hotel was very good, the room was clean and had everything we needed. We booked this hotel to be near the location of a friend's wedding/anniversary reception. My only criticism was that the room felt a bit small, but obviously that was how the hotel was designed to achieve more rooms for the space. I just left the bathroom door open to open up the room more, which felt better. Comfy bed, and we slept very well. Breakfast was superb and beautifully cooked, and the coffee was excellent, The price that we paid for the room, including breakfast we felt it was very good value for money and hence we would definitely stay at this hotel again if we needed to stay over in Reford again.

The room, even though it was very clean and provided everything we needed it felt smaller than expected.

The rooms were spacious and clean with quality fittings and furniture and were individual rather than the standard presentation found in many hotels. As a small hotel you felt that the staff were attemtive to your needs. Breakfast was comprehensive. I would stay here again or recommend to family and friends.

Not the cheapest rooms in Retford and there was no chef in post at the time of our stay therefore meals were limited to breakfast only. The hotel doesn't have its own carpark however the car park round the corner served the hotel well (1 min walk away). There is no lift therefore anyone with mobility problems would need to ask for the ground floor rooms.

I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. The weather was extremely hot and a fan had been placed in my room without my having to ask.

I couldn't take a shower because the water was scolding hot. I managed to have a wash in the sink but would have preferred to have had a proper shower and wash my hair. When I mentioned this upon check-out I was told that there was a problem with the shower in that room and there was a 'knack' to getting it colder. Since I'd given up after about 15 minutes of trying everything I could think of, it would have been nice to have been told about this at check-in. I would stay there again, but I would ask for a different room with a shower that could be operated normally.

We loved the location and we loved the staff. Mozz (spelling??) in particular was amazing and went out of her way to help.

We didn't like that we weren't informed about the restaurant being closed for the foreseeable future before our arrival. We didn't like that the bar closed early on our first day so we couldn't even relax after our meal as the bar closed around 6pm on a Saturday night which is crazy. We didn't like that the manager was nowhere to be seen and didn't reply to the outside hours phone when called or texted.

I was told that the chef had been ill so there were no cooked breakfasts which was not a problem for me as I prefer continental anyway but this was disappointing for a 'boutique' hotel. Just sliced bread, rather stale granola and packaged cereals, no yogurt or fruit. Hopefully this will improve when the chef returns.

I liked how they had modernised an old building, but tried to keep the original features of the police station. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were small, but tastefully decorated, with everything you needed. The food was excellent and very good value for money.

Parking wasn’t available for the hotel. There were parking spots, but they were in the street. Uncomfortable bar stools. Not enough coat hangers (only 3) in wardrobe. We were asked on booking if we had any special requests, and as we are vegetarian we asked for veggie sausages for breakfast. This message didn’t get through, as there were no veggie options. We didn’t mind, but don’t ask if you don’t take any notice!

The manager Amelia was very helpful and friendly. Although the restaurant and bar was closed due to redecoration which we were not informed off when booking she very opologetic and offered us a free breakfast and upgrade. I am glad we stayed lovely staff excellent breakfast and a great town to visit.

Very nice room, spacious, large TV with Netflix. Bathroom very nice and clean. Tea and biscuits in the room. Breakfast was decent with a few options.

The room had a locked door linking it to the bedroom next door which also had guests in it. Unfortunately the door was far from soundproof so I could hear conversations from next door and I was very weary of even putting volume up on the TV to not disturb others. A little more privacy would have been nice, maybe get rid of the door or soundproof it?
