The room was as we expected. The website said check in was 00.00 to 00.00 when we got there we were told it's 15.00 onward but they said it was ok we could check in. The room which was a twin was a bit on the small side but beds were lovely and comfortable. There was tea making facilities. My son had a double room and his was more spacious. When we got home we realised my granddaughter had left her box with jewellery behind in the room but when I contacted the hosts they were more than happy to post it out to us. We didn't go into the adjoining pub as we were in Retford for a wedding so we just needed accommodation. Would we stay there again? More than likely.

It's a little bit off the beaten track

Overall the property was welcoming comfortable and ideal for us. It is pet friendly and has easy access with car parked outside room. The staff were very friendly and looked after us. We had dinner in the Inn and the food was delicious . The rate was very reasonable for the service provided.

We were surprised that on arrival the additional fee for having a pet was £25. It is not advertised as this and having stayed in many hotels throughout Europe on driving to Scotland , found the average charge to be between £5 and £12. The owner did reduce it to £15 but even this is excessive for a small animal that slept in her own bed and caused no additional cleaning. We are hoteliers and know that children can be more problematic than animals in terms of cleanliness. Overall this is not a complaint as such, because the room rate was more than reasonable...just something the owner should consider. We would not hesitate to stay again !

The pub is located alongside a canal, great to sit and have a drink in the large garden or walking the dog along the canal. The food we had was very good quality and the desert was to die for, The room was clean and tidy and plenty of parking close to the room. The hosts were fantastic and couldn't do enough for their guests, a really good atmosphere in the bar, talking to the locals and the dogs are allowed anywhere in the pub, would definitely return.

The location was perfect! A nice quiet village with a beautiful canal to walk along. 12th Century church within easy walking distance. Lovely staff, very kind and always smiling. The food in the restaurant was awesome! Steak cooked to perfection. Highly recommended for couples and walkers ...... we will be back!

The only minor downside is there was no where nearby to buy a breakfast, but there was a fridge in the room to store anything we brought with us.

Charming accommodative staff, good food, excellent value for money. Very relaxed atmosphere for family group. Rooms are in old stable block, so away from main pub area . Beautiful view over the canal, especially at sunset.

Only one minor complaint, room 1 backed onto bin area, no smell, bins hidden from sight, but quite a few flies. A simple fly screen on windows would fix problem.

Absolutely love this place! Rooms are so cosy and comfortable we never want to leave. We have stayed a number of times as we can't keep away! The place is very clean and the location is perfect. All the staff have been extremely helpful, and are yet to try the food but the menu looks amazing and the pub has a great atmosphere! The pretty beer garden with canal running through is a bonus too! Will definitely be returning again!

Super friendly staff couldn’t do enough for you. Rooms could do with a little update but for the money absolutely nothing to moan about.

Nothing it was lovely but if not driving no taxis around and a big walk on country lanes to next village so out of the way but very peaceful but that’s the village not really the pub.

It's the second time staying here and would definitely go back. The rooms are very clean, have all the facilities you need and the beds are super comfy! Staff are excellent and the cocktails are the best I've tasted!

Internet signal, I couldn't get any at all while in the room and pub - obviously this is a personal preference and doesn't effect everyone.

Could provide guests with WiFi in bedrooms, if WiFi is readily available then the password would be great to have in room ready for those travelling with a child or late check in. Phone signal is pretty poor so having this would enable contact with the outside world. Not hotels fault for poor phone signal in the slightest

good value for money staff were excellent and provided everything we asked for although bar closed 9/9:30 no problems getting ice to take back to room fridge in room.right on canal ideal for walks with dog

we had three night stay only enough toiletries for one night stay
