The Original Rosslyn Inn

We had to find a place to stay when our little dog was rushed into the emergency animal hospital. We didn’t know how long we would have to stay in Edinburgh and we were quite stressed by the whole situation but the staff here were AMAZING. They completely understood and did everything to reassure us and make our stay comfortable including a late breakfast when we missed it and a late checkout when we weren’t sure if we needed to stay another night. All round made a very unpleasant experience so much better for us ❤️ Lovely evening meals in restaurant, super breakfast, clean and cosy rooms. Good location near some lovely little walks to take our minds off things.

We loved staying here the staff were so friendly and helpful they made our stay a very happy one.Excellent food at realistic prices generous portions and so so tasty. The room was good and comfortable new ensuite shower was excellent. We loved the quaintness of old Inn. A really good base to visit the area.

Furniture in bedroom was on the old side and falling apart in places. Dodgy electric sockets but reported to staff and sorted straight away. The 200yr old Inn is in the process of being refurbished.

Food was delicious & the staff were friendly & helpful. The Rosslyn Chapel was fascinating. We had fun going on the double decker bus to the Edinburgh Royal Mike. Walking around Roslin itself showed us how beautiful a part of Scotland it was

The only complaint we can mention is the amount of stairs we had to climb to reach our room. It was awkward when carrying luggage . The stairs were also narrow & winding which didn't help when carrying large suitcases

It’s a historic building, in a historic area, with its own interesting past. The old elements are charming and as expected, the food is great and there are little touches which show a direction for other hotels, such as the QR codes. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and could not have done more to make our, albeit brief, stay better.

The car park is a little snug for large vehicles, but perfectly accessible.

The room was nice , the staff very friendly, the food at both dinner and breakfast was great. The decor was very tasteful and many historic references to both Robert Burns and Rosslyn Chapel. Would definitely come back again and being across from Rosslyn Chapel was handy along with the bus stops to and from Edinburgh being right outside the Inn. The food was excellent with a nice range of both whiskies and other drinks. Also dog friendly for dog owners.

Couldn't find anything I didn't like.

Great location near Rosslyn Chapel. Good value with an excellent breakfast. The room and bed were very comfortable. having a bar and restaurant downstairs was very convenient.

The towels were very scratchy and very rough. I think having thicker, softer towels would be an easy, inexpensive, win for the Inn and would highly improve the guest experience. The room could also use a fan to move the air.

Fantastic breakfast. Very comfortable room although somewhat small and would not be good for more than a couple of nights. Pleasant hosts .

Shower alternately ran hot and freezing which I am sure could have been fixed but not worth mentioning for one night. Could not charge drinks and dinner to the room which I find very annoying as I had to go back upstairs for my wallet after 2 days of hard walking

Very friendly attentive staff. Breakfast was traditional and filling for the day ahead. The tea/dinner I had in the restaurant was good with fresh haddock and home fried chips.

The mattress in the bed was too soft for my back. The Inn is an old building and so the floor was lower at the headrest than at my feet which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable for me.

The staff went above expectations to insure we had a great stay. Restaurant was exceptional. Neighborhood Lounge and bar was on premise. Bus stop at hotel entrance. Loved the thick walls and breakfast room decor. But the staff is what makes this an excellent place to stay. Location is about twelve miles out of Edinburgh and is in walking distance to Roslyn Chapel.

Thick walls made WiFi spotty.

Staff were excellent, really friendly. The food was excellent and breakfast was fantastic. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable enough with decent bedding and proper sheets.

The bathroom although clean had mildew on the ceiling and some of the fittings needed some tlc, such as curtain pole hanging off the wall. Little niggles that meant overall I didn't think it was value for money but I would be willing to give it another chance.
