The Black Horse Inn0

Lovely historic old building recently refurbished to a very high standard. Great location, next to the parish church in the very pretty village of Giggleswick. If you're into photography the village will keep you busy for hours. A whole network of footpaths in all directions from the inn, ideal for dog walking. About a 15 minute walk into Settle centre. The inn itself is very dog friendly, we had our two with us and they were made very welcome by Marley, the resident dog and several other visitors in the bar. (If you don't like dogs then beware, you are likely to encounter several here). All staff very friendly and welcoming. Clearly a thriving local pub, we stayed for two nights and ate in the bar each night - two excellent meals. Breakfasts also very good, made fresh to order from the previous night. Room very comfortable and obviously newly furnished. Altogether a great vibe and a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Whilst there's an ample parking area at the back, the access to it is quite 'tight', which can't be helped due to the configuration of the old buildings. Getting in for the first time is a bit awkward but ok after that - be assured, a car will fit! A very minor point in the scheme of things, but a shelf in the bathroom would have been handy for toiletries etc.

A lovely, character, building that’s been sensitively modernised. The room was warm and comfortable. The shower was superb - constantly hot and great pressure! We had dinner both nights. The steak I had on the first night was one of the best I’ve had, and our pizzas on the second night were excellent - quality ingredients were obvious.

Nothing of significance. A set of drawers in the room would be useful, along with a shelf over the washbasin for toiletries. But neither spoiled our stay.

The breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly , efficient, cheerful, and helpful. The meals we had in the evening were very good and reasonably priced. Our room was quite small but we had a big comfy bed,and it was fitted out with everything you were likely to need . Very quiet village, and our room overlooked the church so it was very peaceful .

I can’t think of anything I didn’t like

Everything, the food was excellent, breakfast was huge servings but you could order exactly what you wanted. Staff couldn't do enough for you and the location was perfect. The chef was excellent. The rooms were lovely and the ensuite was great.

Getting your car round to the car park was a little airy at first so perhaps a mention of the situation would be helpful

Access to the car park is very tight between two buildings and not good for anyone with a large car. I ended up parking on the street a short walk away.

Very friendly staff, comfortable bedroom with T&C making facilities, great choice on menu, freshly cooked food and very well presented, outside eating/drinking area that’s a great sun trap, large bar area and 2 dining rooms, large carpark. Perfect location to explore the dales, very pretty village, 10 minute walk into Settle.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Exceptional breakfast.good quality food that was served promptly and hot .

The dining room could of been a little bit more inviting ...the fireplace was beautiful but the rest of the room needed to be a little bit more decorated and comforting . I had a large car the entrance to the rear car park was very narrow and difficult .

The room whilst beautifully decorated it was very small and had a few too many cushions to be able to move around with them off the bed. The shower was a bit of a challenge for the not very agile . Parking was a bit tricky

I arrived late after a long wet motorbike journey. The landlord was brilliant getting me a pint and a curry despite the kitchen having been closed for 40 minutes. The chocolate brownie was to die for and the breakfast the following day was excellent. Great staff who all went above and beyond expectations. A great place to stay 😀👌

nice pub, friendly atmosphere, clean rooms, nicely decorated, great shower, comfy beds

only a couple of really minor things, no body wash/shampoo and your have to ask for milk which is fresh milk, but pain if you’ve just arrived and want a quick cuppa/get in later at night. however these are only really minor things and could not fault rest of our stay
