The Craven Arms

We used The Craven Arms as a base for walking in the Yorkshire Dales. The proprietor and staff were exceptional. We were warmly welcomed, service was excellent and all were happy to engage in conversation. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated - I got a great night's sleep. Breakfast was hearty and evening meals were really tasty and well presented. Good selection of local beers and an excellent choice of malt whiskies. For our group it ticked all the boxes and if I pay another visit to the area I would certainly stay here again.

Variable shower quality in our four rooms. Two were excellent, one had poor temperature control and the other was small.

We ended up going for a walk at 6 in the morning after we had stayed the night, so the wonderful bar lady arranged for us to have a breakfast packed up to take with us and sandwiches/crisps/juice to take for our dinner on our walk. We had to two dogs so sat in the bar restaurant and the food was amazing, I’ve been a chef for ten years and don’t normally like eating out because of this but it was delicious! And dog treats on the bar for our pooches… we had some great chats with people in the bar, lovely staff and the room was amazing, we was fortunate to have a room with an door to outside so we could let our dogs out too. The room was ace with our tea and coffee and biscuits. Just couldn’t of picked. A better place to stay we felt well looked after thank you.

Nice rooms, very comfortable beds, very good food in the restaurant, wide choice and quality at breakfast.

Some minor issues with information passed through from Booking.com (eg request for twin room) but the hosts quickly resolved this. The bar was advertised as open until 11:oopm but on our second night was closed and in darkness when we returned at 10:00pm, we were advised the following morning that as there were no customers using the bar it closed early and if we had phoned we would have been served, noted for future stays.

Loved the area it was situated in, the staff were very helpful and friendly! close to so many beautiful places. The owners were lovely and chatty which was nice. all in all a lovely place to stay. The food was first rate too. The beef wellington was gorgeous. Breakfast was yummy and the kippers tasted gorgeous! The bedroom was comfortable and the shower power was great. Thank you to the owners and the staff who were just lovely xxx

Beautiful location, lovely big room and comfy bed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the view from the breakfast room and having a recommended G&T combination in the beer garden as the sun went down was wonderful.

Only a tiny niggle but the overhead shower leaked cold drips when using the handheld shower. A disposable shower cap would have been useful as it was almost impossible to shower without getting wet hair and it’s not always convenient to do a full hair wash every shower. Also we would have appreciated the guest info having more info about local transport and amenities

I found the room neat and clean with comfortable bed, ample supply of tea-coffee ingredients, toiletries. Location was perfect for me as I had to drive to Ribblehead viaduct early morning. A lot of options were available at the dinner table and the food was delicious. Would also appreciate that I was provided packed breakfast as I had to leave early before breakfast time. Staff was courteous and friendly.

I stayed with 1 friend for two nights Fri-Sun, we were completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks so needed a cosy place to stay. We loved the place, located in a beautiful area, views are lovely. Staff were all so friendly and chatty, taking care of everyone and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was perfect, clean, all facilities we needed, and any extras, including more milk and a slightly layer checkout. The food was amazing, we ate there 3 times in total, twice for dinner and once for breakfast, recommend the Yorkshire breakfast, and the steak for dinner! We loved our stay, and can’t say we fancy the 3 peaks challenge again (hard work!!) but we would absolutely recommend a stay at the Craven Arms - thank you for making our weekend perfect :)

No complaints at all

Easy to find, park and check in. The staff are very helpful & friendly. Their pub has a great atmosphere, I travel alone a lot for work so these things are top of my list. However the restaurant was my biggest surprise, my dinner has moved into, top 5 of my lifetime. absolutely cooked and plated to perfection. I will be back for sure and can not recommend eating there highly enough.

Light gets into the room, but I had my sleep mask with me I still managed to get a good nights sleep.

Booked this gorgeous little stay so we could do the 3 Peaks and I honestly couldn't be happier, from the welcome to the good bye, nothing was too much trouble, the food was delicious (highly recommend the fish pie), all the staff were most helpful, everything was incredible. This is way more than any 3 Star place. This should be 4 at the bare minimum. If you stay here, you will not regret it.

The hotel owner Johnothan was so helpful for my transport from the railway station at 9pm, and to the railway station on the following day without any charge, that really made my first visit to Settle a perfect journey, plus very clean, cosy, quiet room with fresh breakfast in the home-like settings, I cannot recommend it more and definitely would love to visit again.
