The Red Lion Hotel

very clean considering old building. Coffey bed. nice bar area. friendly locals and staff. great location. restaurant menu was lovely. very close to everything in town and the river. very helpful staff. homely feel.

very creaky bed and floorboards but it is an old building so expected. stairs were a bit much for me due to a recent knee operation but I didn’t inform the hotel before booking so not their fault. a shame they don’t offer breakfast. no car park which once we found an all day one near by was manageable but would of liked this info before arriving.

Fantastic town centre location, which is why we chose this hotel. The room was comfortable with plenty of space for our small dog. Everyone was very friendly and the food and list of real ales were a very pleasant bonus.

It was quite noisy at night, until about 1am - but its town centre and the pub is very popular, so we did expect there to be some noise. We would have liked to have had the choice of a cooked breakfast, but we do understand that the weekend we booked was an exceptionally busy time for the pub. Parking near the pub was tricky on arrival to unload as the town centre is pedestrianised and the terms of when / where cars had access and where to park and for how long parking was allowed wasn't easy to find online. Loading up when leaving was easier as short-term parking was then allowed nearby.

Beautiful place, clean, very good bar and restaurant. Staff were SUPER friendly and welcoming. Room was a good size, well equipped, comfy bed, nice bathroom and shower.

No parking on site, so if your there on a Tuesday or Friday night you have to drive round to the nearest car park as there is a market outside the pub following morning. Also of course being a pub on a town high st the noise was very loud until all the customers had gone and we were woken very early. Part and parcel of course but worth asking for a room thats not at the front. The room was also boiling with a very sad fan.

Excellent room provided for dog, at the back of the hotel, with external walls, so minimal noise. The rooms were comfy and the larger one, particularly good with an outside area.

We were told we could get something to eat in the bar on the Sunday evening but when we arrived, we were told it was not possible. We were however advised that we could bring a carryout into the bar area. As it turns out, we found a local bar serving food and where the dog was welcome.

Location was excellent as it’s situated in the centre of town. The hotel is full of character and with the frontage of the hotel it was a great place to have a drink and watch everything going on. We stayed on a Monday night and on Tuesdays there is a market in the town centre.The bedroom was a great size and even had a comfy chair to sit on (you usually only have a bed to sit on!) we booked room only so can’t review breakfast.

It was a shame they couldn’t do food, which was beyond their control, as it was difficult to find somewhere to eat on a Monday night, as a lot of eateries are closed on Mondays in the town. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t have parking, but a short walk from the ‘Drapers Place’ car park at only £2.50 for 24 hours was a good find.

Perfect location in the centre of Spalding. We were travelling by public transport so ideal for bus and train stations. Room had all we needed and was lovely and clean and was serviced each day. Tea and coffee and biscuits each day. Although the pub was busy inside and out the room was quiet. Nearby supermarkets such as Sainsbury so able to prepare packed lunches ( we were walking the coast) Plenty of places nearby to eat out, Prezzo, Weatherspoons etc.

Everything was fine.

staff were very helpful and allowed us to store our bikes in a meeting room (though getting them up to the first floor was a bit fraught!) Rooms were comfortable and well furnished.

Room was a bit hot and it was only a moderately warm day. I don't remember asking for a quiet room (contrary to what you say above - maybe I ticked a box somewhere without realising it) but with a town centre hotel on a Saturday night that would have been difficult to arrange!

As always all the staff were kind and friendly. It is the third time I have stayed here with my mum. We felt comfortable as we have before, it's very homely. We enjoyed our stay and love the location. We will be back, thank you all.

The only reason we were not very happy was because we were only told about the breakfast times. We were not told that you could only have a cooked breakfast if you came downstairs before a certain time. So we only had the continental breakfast.

Position could not be better. Parking no issue. My room excellent - clean, comfortable and really good value for the money. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient. A particular mention to Lucy, on the morning shift, for her bright demeanor and nothing-is-too-much-trouble attitude. Thank you - I will be returning!

My reason for being there was spur of the moment and there were no negatives for me.

Location is perfect as so central to town. Room was clean and the beds were comfortable +++ Staff helpful, pleasant and unobtrusive. The ability to bring our dog Into a room that was pleasant was lovely and the outside seating area was the icing on the cake!

Needed a socket closer to the bed.
