Hotel 52 Stanley

Hotel was lovely… room was a quality room an spacious.

Rangos next door was the only let down,first night we got there the service was brilliant in there an very friendly,breakfast the next morning was poor,we waited along time,was not the young girls fault she was on her own but we had toast brought out first an then half an hour later the breakfast,also that night we were there an arrived back at twenty past 10 for it to be shut when we were told it would be open,I don’t think it caters for people staying in the hotel,2 girls also got asked to leave as there was not enough custom!

Hotel was in a good quiet location (less than 30 mins by car from the Stadium of Light in Sunderland) with lots of free parking (both carpark & on-street). There is Rangos restaurant next door, a McDonald's, Morrisons & retail park close by. We had breakfast in Rangos both mornings which had a good choice and was good value for money. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The shower cubicle was a good size & water pressure is great. No toiletries in the room but for the price you pay I wouldn't have expected any. Lovely white cotton sheets and gleaming white fluffy towels. Kettle with Tea/coffee etc provided. We decided to stay an additional night booked directly with the hotel. We were offered another room if we wanted but decided to stay in the one we were in. The staff were amazing, especially Janette and Adam on the desk :) couldn't have asked for nicer more helpful accommodating staff! Janette even chatted and laughed with us when we came back in the early hours of the morning from the concert we had been at. Thanks so much! Would recommend it, we will definitely be back.

Would have loved to have been able to open the window in the room for a bit of ventilation. We were offered another room so this isn't a negative on the hotel staff.

The apartment was well equipped, very clean and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. When departing in the morning we were speaking with Jeanette who was such a bubbly person. She confirmed our stay had met a high standard with no complaints and gave us her recommendations on booking if we were wishing to return in the future which we shall be doing as we have family in very close proximity and the accommodation met all of our needs. Great place, friendly and accommodating staff...what more can I say!! Highly recommended Stanley Hotel 52.😁

A toaster could of been helpful.

Good having someone on reception. Spacious room, big comfortable bed, good ensuite with large shower tray, free WiFi, good lighting. Excellent breakfast included in my price - cheaper than buying it in the morning.

The view was rather enclosed (but had a side view of a very nice, interesting church which played tunes on the bells at about 10 am.) Good value if there are two in the room but quite expensive for just the one of me. I didn't go out in the evening so don't know how safe the area is but it seemed quiet.

Very clean pleasant room, with very hot water for the shower. Jeannette was very good in trying to sort out the wifi, which wasnt appearing to be working on arrival. She was busy doing other things but made time for me, to get me online as I needed it to check with my online business. Yes I would stay here again when in the area, and it is handy for visiting Durham and Beamish.

The front door was automatic, but was slow to open, and didnt open enough to get through while holding several suitcases

Hotel was spotless and staff where so friendly and helpful we where their for seven nights..breakfast was great with lots of choices.

The staff made us feel special.nothing was to much for them .we are in our 80s and this is the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in.we will definitely be going back their in the future. this hotel should be rated exceptional not just good.

Friendly staff on our arrival, lovely quiet area. Room was lovely and spacious for 2 adults and 2 children. The rooms were clean as well as the rest of the hotel. Kitchen facilities were great. Brilliant hotel for such a low price. Perfect location for Beamish, only a 5 minute drive away. Definitely recommend. The restaurant next door was fantastic too, great service and great food for both evening meals and breakfast.

The only thing we would criticise is the sofa bed was very uncomfortable.

The location was perfect for me as I have family who live in Stanley. I travelled from Anglesey N.Wales on the Thursday for a family wedding on Friday. I'd already booked the venue for 2nights but needed somewhere for the 3rd night so booked Hotel 52. It was great and met my needs.

The check-in could have been a bit smoother as the room wasn't ready for 3pm so we went to Rangos for a drink (it's a new restaurant) just opened that day so wasn't a issue.

The room was clean but not cleaned whaile we stayed - not necessarily a bad thing. for a short stay Breakfast was excellent and good choice. Reception and restaurant staff excellent and friendly. Nice decor.

Would prefer more choice of dinner menu - very much geared to young people. Very large portions but too much for us oldies. The food was excellent though and nice and hot.

The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the breakfast tasty, and freshly cooked. It is a basic hotel so don't expect frills but it delivers what it advertises.

There is no way to contact reception from the rooms so this could be an issue in an emergency. My elderly father was with me and this made him a little concerned. He also found the shower floor slippery but a member of staff gave him a slip-proof mat as soon as he raised this.
