Very comfortable room and modern ensuite with heated towel rail. Modern decor. Quiet although on main road. Eating places short drive away. E xcellent breakfast . staff friendly and helpful. plenty of parking - once you find your way in. I understand from someone I met later who knew it of old that rooms must have had a massive upgrade. Can recommend. Near to Beamish, Gibbside, and Causey Arch.

Parking entrance not signed and first entrance I came to was difficult to get through round parked cars. Didn't know there was another way in on other side of pub as couldn't see it from direction I came.

Everything was great at the Ball Alley. We had Everything we needed and very clean and comfortable. . We were even able to get in earlier than expected after contacting via the Booking.com App. We got very quick responses. I asked if they did evening meals and was advised where to go or that we could order in food deliveries. Very helpful. Breakfasts were fabulous. High quality. Staff were lovely.

The only slight niggle were the fire doors banging. Not the fault of the venue but of un- thoughtful people in the adjacent room who just let the doors bang inside of catching them and using the handle to close them. But that's just people.

I was travelling solo around Northumberland on a road trip as my partner was ill , and first attraction was Beamish so booked it due to previous reviews and it did not disappoint. Excellent value for money, lovely room, free parking, great filling breakfast but best of all the owners are lovely. On checking in I asked about food , think the owners name is Mike sorry if I got it wrong, and he advised on a place down the road and showed me to my room. On returning from dinner, great recommendation on the food, I enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar and had a lovely chat and evening with his wife the other owner , and some locals. So pleased I booked it very welcoming, lovely room, spacious and clean along with great company. If I am in the area again I would rebook. Thanks for a great stay x

Nothing everything was great.

We were visiting Beamish, The Ball Alley is just 15 minutes away. The hosts are a very nice and friendly couple and really attentive to their guests. The pub is lovely and has a very cozy atmosphere. The rooms were spotless and had everything you need. There is even a guests kitchen with a table, chairs, microwave and toaster. Breakfast was great. Full English with toast and cereal. I just cant fault it!

It is hard to find anything I did not like, the only thing we did say that was in any way negative was that the duvets were way to warm for the summer!

The value for money at this place is exceptional. It is very close to the South Causey inn at a fraction of the price of other accommodation. It is walkable distance for an evening stroll back from South Causey The staff are so accommodating and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I'm in the area for another occasion.

We had a shared bathroom with family which is just a bit disorientating in middle of night (although you are made aware of this and you might be able to make it through the night)

Breakfast was spot on, and only down the road from south causey inn which was the reason for the stay. Would recommend this place to anyone and I would definitely stay there again. Decent size rooms with decent facilities which seemed to be kept well maintained.

I would prefer a double bed with a private bathroom with a shower and not a shared one which left me with the option of a single bed to get the private bathroom. Wasn't much to dislike tbh I've stayed in a lot worse hotels that cost a lot more,

We went to a wedding at the south causey just up the road and we could afford to stay there. So it was perfect that it was there at an affordable price. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were lovely.

The toilet isn’t in the room which I didn’t realise which I didn’t like but we shared a bathroom with only one other room. Never seen them at the toilet and for the 1 night we stayed it was fine. Overall, I don’t think it’s a big issue just annoying when you’re a bit drunk 😂

The Ball Alley was perfect ! Easy to find and good parking available. We were greeted by bar staff who introduced themselves and we were made to feel welcome on our arrival. We stopped in the bar before going up to our room and this wasn't a problem for the staff. The room was ideal - spacious, clean, comfortable, with a great shower and comfortable beds. The staff helped out giving us directions to the nearby wedding reception we were visiting in the evening. Breakfast the following morning was great quality and absolutely delicious and we had the pleasure of meeting the lady who own the venue - her hospitality skills were second to none. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Ball Alley as a place to stay.

It would have been helpful to know (before booking) that we couldn't check in until 4 pm before booking the venue (although i was contacted to let me know this via email after booking) and to know they are rooms above a pub with no catering facilities. This didn't bother us but might bother others.

Family room lovely and spacious, spotlessly clean, towels fluffy, hospitality tray well stocked. Cooked breakfast was excellent, quality ingredients used. Top ups of tea, coffee, juices and toast offered as soon as they were emptied. Immaculate gardens with ample seating and a very friendly helpful gardener. Hosts Michael and Lindsay were amazing and the perfect hosts. If we are ever in the area again we would use again and would recommend to others.

The double bed in our room was a little soft for my liking but this is personal preference and it in no way deterred from our stay.
