The hotel was so.lovely and the staff very friendly especially the housekeeping . The lady was so friendly and nothing too.much trouble Always had a smile on her face . The breakfast was very nice, lovely and freshly cpoked.

One of the reasons I chose this venue as it was close to my business meeting and it was supposed to have super fast WiFi. This wasn't the case . The speed of the internet was very slow and day one of my stay it kicked me out of a very important zoom meeting where when I explained to the staff, they told me that the internet wasn't very good and gave me another code to use to which it was very intermittent. Made me look very unprofessional . Also there were no sweeteners in the room for the coffee making . When I asked they said someone had forgetting to order them and it didn't matter as noone ever asked for them !!!

We needed a stop on our drive from Oban to London and wanted something close to the highway we were traveling on but not a holiday Inn type that was still a good value. The Upper House exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful Inn and the grounds and setting was beautiful. The Inn was gracious in informing us about a wedding reception the night of our stay in case we wanted to cancel due to noise. The noise was not a major issue and we had a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious, the staff wonderful and we were able to do a beautiful 3 mile hike right from the Inn prior to resuming our trip.

Excellent location and surroundings, enhanced by the weather, which was perfect. Sitting outside enjoying an afternoon drink on a sunny terrace - what could be better? We didn't eat in the evening as we were joining friends for a celebratory meal elsewhere but we did enjoy a great breakfast the following morning. The staff were friendly and helpful but obviously quite stretched to the point where residents and those checking in were having to wait longer than was reasonable.

It took a while to check in, mainly because the receptionist was engaged in other tasks and there didn't appear to be any back up. We had an annoying buzz in our room which seemed to emanate from within a wall. We reported it and credit to the young man on reception, he eventually tracked it down albeit after some time.

I was warned beforehand that a wedding celebration could affect noise levels so that was fair enough. My room was above the disco so it was loud for a while. I suggest that guests check for a similar situation especially if staying on a Saturday however, it did not spoil my stay. The parking was good which I again queried especially because of the wedding. The hotel said that staff would double park in the event of restricted spaces. So they were very helpful and answered all my questions in a truthful way. The gardens were superb with a dramatic view over the valley. The hotel has an interesting history which is depicted in some beautiful murals in the dining room.

Most of the staff at Upper House were extremely welcoming and very friendly. The food was amazing on both nights and the breakfast was brilliant. The staff in the restaurant were very lovely, friendly, polite and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The room was very comfortable, warm and very clean. The bathroom was spotless.

When we arrived the member of staff checked us in, gave us our keys and then told us the rooms were on the first floor but didn't show us where to go to find them. We then had to send one of our party back downstairs to ask directions. We wouldn't have found our rooms other wise. The double room had very thin walls and we could hear the TV from the next room very loudly.

Room was of a good size and the beds comfortable. Dinner has to be singled out as being of a very high standard, and delicious. Breakfast was good and suited both of i us - one a continental fan and the other a bacon lover.

On arrival we waited 15 minutes for the receptionist to show up, nobody seemed to know where she was or doing, and nobody else seemed to have the authority to0 manage the increasing queue of clients building up in the reception. When she did come back there was no apology or recognition that we had been waiting.

It was such a happy and pleasant surprise and we wish we had stayed 2 mights. The venue is set on beautiful grounds and is was so lovely to sit outside with a drink and soak in the views. The rooms had everything needed to make our stay great and we really loved the balcony with seating. The meals were great and all the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and polite. The resident cat was a real hit with me and some how found our room and came for a pat the next morning.

we had a great stay so there was nothing we did not like/enjoy

The lounge is a lovely touch. Beautiful original features. Rooms are clean and tidy. Shower pressure is good.

We had dinner and breakfast. We were disappointed. Dinner was barely warm. Roast potatoes had clearly been sat in kitchen all day (we had evening booking) No stuffing and beef was tough. No check back completed whilst we were eating only after we had finished and we were all tired after travelling all day. Breakfast also was barely warm but good quality. Kitchen were 86 a few items due to a busy weekend we were told. Staff were lovely though.

Great staff and nothing too much trouble. Reception arrangements were excellent. Every effort was made to bring forward the room availability, and we were highly satisfied

Some of the 'infrastructure' is not up the the standard for the price. For example, it was reasonable that there was no air conditioning in such an old building, but portable air coolers are now widely available at reasonable cost, and would be more suited that the older-style fans - particularly at the price-point.

The location is beautiful with long views. A £4 each way taxi ride takes you to the Plume Of Feathers pub, Neil Morrissey's one, great food there and it's just down the road from The Upper House. The building has some interesting parts. Breakfast plenty of choice. Reception greeting from Jessica (I think sorry if I've got that wrong) She organised a twin room for us, changing from a large bed. Thank-you. They serve afternoon tea. Cheery chamber maid, liked her too. All the staff are lovely. The resident cat is a good mouser watched it catch one on the lawn. Only one room allowed at a time in the lift. Covid precautions and reminders made us feel safe. Easy free plentiful parking.

Upper room in the house 'Bluebell' little flakes of plaster fell from the ceiling and covered my coat, a quick shake and a move of the suitcase all ok. Unfortunately my bed was so uncomfortable to sleep on I had little sleep the first night however husband swopped with me he managed on it so all ok. They have a good menu however it wasn't what we were after on this trip, sadly I didn't get time to try the afternoon tea.
