Lovely village pub with rooms. Had food brought up to my room after a manic day - omg food was amazing. Chicken burger was absolutely huge and the salad dressing was lovely. Good night's sleep even with a couple of issues

Room was adequate size wise, bathroom was very small and I was right near the train track. Had an artist in so I must have been right above it, it was very very noisy but I managed to sleep. My only complaint was that the room was a little chilly even with the radiator on full and the bed was a bit hard.

Very welcoming with a nice atmosphere . Room was ready and clean. Four rooms available, upstairs at the back of the pub. Despite being very close to the main railway line it wasn't too noisy, soundproofing was effective . Simple value-for-money accommodation. Everything worked, good shower in the room with toilet. Breakfast was instant porridge which was fine for me. So it was all very flexible. Parking was secure and sufficient. Would be ideal for single tradespeople working locally.

No heating in the room. In fact it was OK for me, but having the option of putting it on would have been better. Main problem was that there was no food in the evening . Even in the town there weren't many dining options open So it was takeaways obtained locally or what the guys had brought with them. Microwave available and kettle in rooms. Tea and coffee provided in each room! Pub prides itself on its food so this wS disappointing. I had to drive into Stafford in search of food! No toiletries, bring your own AGAIN not a problem for me.

All staff we encountered were fantastic - very friendly and helpful. Special mention to our waitress Maeve; looked after us throughout our meal with friends and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent. As well as tea and coffee in our bedroom, biscuits and bottled water were also provided.

Very small bedroom although they've made the best of the space available and everything looked very fresh and new. Would have liked a shelf in bathroom to put toiletries on and also in the shower. Right next to train tracks and that combined with the regular noise of what sounded like water refilling in the cistern, made it too noisy for us - so take earplugs with you!. OK to stay one or two nights maximum.

No breakfast but we knew before arriving, lovely meal on the evening, excellent choice of beers, helpful staff when we needed them. We noted on reviews that there was train noise but we didn't notice it, possibly because of the beer!

the pub was as we expected, they could possibly offer breakfast but with only three rooms it comes down to cost versus reward and it is hard enough on pubs at the moment to make a living. Worth a visit just plan ahead.

From the moment I checked in the staff at the hotel could not have provided a better customer service, made to feel welcome and even shown to my room. It was a traditional little pub with an outstanding meal menu back up and supported by a very professional team of waitresses, on which I commented upon after dinner. I ordered a burger, but did not expect anything like what was put in front of me, simply outstanding. I watched other meals being served and all were equally impressive. Well done

That I wasn’t staying longer

Breakfast isn't actually provided in the price, but instant porridge is available for the hungry, as well as tea, coffee and milk. The room was clean, with what looked like new carpet on the floor.

We stayed two nights, and unfortunately, the mugs in our room weren't replaced with clean ones, which was a shame. We like trains, which is just as well, as the Spittal Brook is right next to the main line from Stafford to London, which has goods as well as passenger traffic.

A very friendly team who nothing was too much trouble for. The price reflects the facilities & location, for the area a reasonably priced room. Food in the bar was great. They don’t provide breakfast but the nice touch of porridge pots and breakfast bars should you want them. Plentiful tea tray. Nice colour scheme. Mostly clean. 2 pillows each which is always welcome. Wardrobe with plenty of hangers and drawers all fine. Good double glazing so most outside sounds are muted. Pub downstairs had singer on but was done by 11 which is fine with us.

Can’t bend in shower so could do with a shelf for toiletries In general very basic and compact as per images, think you could ask more for a larger room. Didn’t see a mention anywhere of being next to a train line which would be useful to know. Noise isn’t so bad but it shakes everything quite hard which nearly knocked the glass off the bench Mostly clean apart from marks on inside of the bathroom door, walls and few rogue hairs in the shower & dusty kettle if we were to be picky. Tea tray was badly marked maybe repaint it or replace? Makes it look dirty Disappointed not to be offered dessert etc in restaurant think our waitress had gone home was a young lad trying his best to clear it all up.

Comfortable room, great facilities, ensuite bathroom, plenty of towels, TV, hanging space, tea, coffee facilities.

Proximity to rail line, the room shakes when a train goes by. Car park full when pub is busy, needed to move my car when pub closed. Walls very thin, could hear conversations of people in room next door. A little pricy considering the down sides.

Staff very friendly and helpful Room really clean Nice biscuits! On site car park Bed firm and comfortable Excellent food and service in the bar which had a warm friendly atmosphere

Room was not very big but adequate for our needs. Didn't bother us but if you are a light sleeper it is next to a railway line (this was a plus point for my husband!)

The accommodation was clean, comfortable and quiet. The pub was nice with friendly staff and clientele, plus a great selection of draught beers and the food was absolutely fantastic (new chef apparently). The beer garden was a nice place to chill despite the proximity of the railway line.

The room was a little smaller than I expected, but it was still fit for purpose. A cooked breakfast would also have been a nice option.
