Based on photos and description not quite what we had expected as we were unfamiliar with area - expected to be a little more out of town area. That being said, if you were golfing - great location. The beach was a easy walk and pleasant. Breakfast was good and we also dined the evening before - again good.

While room was of good size and comfortable, the description of "overlooking Royal Troon Golf club" is not true. The rooms have a side yard view, there is a vestibule separating the entry way and front door - in there is a small window that looks at a slight sloped hill to the road, across the road is the course. Even sitting at entry porch the "view" of the course is a stretch.

We have been to the Piersland on a few occasions now and have enjoyed every one. We love the location close to the sea and the golf courses. The rooms are very comfortable and decorated to a high standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful, happy to chat and make you feel valued. What's not to like!

My husband enjoyed the Hearty Scottish breakfast but I'm not really a breakfast person. From my point of view I would like to see more of a variety of fresh fruit at breakfast. However, you have the fastest toast machine that I have encountered in any hotel, so that was great.

The food was exceptional. The hotel was very warm and newly-decorated, with a wood fire burning in the bar and dining room. The bedroom was very clean and tidy.

One of the staff was extremely rude to us twice in the bar. She very bluntly explained we had to order our own drinks at the bar, despite the first waitress very politely serving us; she then very sharply complained when my husband and I discussed whether to pay the drinks immediately or add them to our bill. This was a VERY unpleasant start to our overnight stay, so much so I felt I had to inform the management who sorted out the 'problem' very professionally. All other staff were very pleasant and attentive!

Stayed for Christmas in a Mews room which was comfortable and warm. Not their fault but the weather was grim and we got soaked every time we went out for a walk, so it was lovely to have warm accommodation and to have a nice hot bath on our return. There was always oodles of hot water. The hospitality tray in the room is nice with cookies, hot chocolate and horlicks as well as tea and coffee. Bottled water is also provided. We were surprised that housekeeping came in on Christmas day and refilled everything and left clean towels. The breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit salad, fruit compote and whole fruits, yoghurts, pastries, muffins, toast, cheese and ham, full cooked breakfast. I particularly enjoyed having smoked salmon for breakfast.

No complaints.

We were fortunate to be here on my husband’s birthday while travelling the west coast of Scotland. It’s a lovely hotel, both inside and out and everywhere is immaculate. It seemed a popular place, with the bar and restaurant areas very busy, but It is also well staffed so service was excellent. And the food was amazing - beautifully presented and delicious. Our room was very comfortable and a good size, as was the bathroom, with everything we needed. The location is quiet with plenty of parking.

Beautiful and historic old house sympathetically converted to a high class hotel. The Mews rooms surrounding the property have separate sitting rooms and large bedrooms which was an added bonus. Staff were welcoming and the breakfasts huge!

No EV charging facilities on site, but we had no problem using the fast GeniePoint charging at Morrisons in Troon, and topping up for free on the ChargePlace Scotland chargers at the main tourist sites and elsewhere. When we stayed there was some renovation going on in the bar area but it didn’t affect our stay.

The room was lovely and very clean. Lovely big rainforest shower head and very clean bathroom with nice big towels. Two bedrooms and a little dressing room with an ironing board, iron and hairdryer which I appreciated. Lovely breakfast in the morning included in the price. I like that the ‘Mews’ rooms are like your own little house.

I found it quite expensive at £390 for 2 nights however it was great to be staying in the same place where I was attending a wedding.

This is a tasteful country house hotel that’s steeped in history. It looks great as you drive in and park, and originally at one point owned by the grandson of the whisky magnet Johnny Walker. it’s set in lovely grounds and is a unique place to enjoy the west coast but also on the doorstep of some great Scottish golf courses. I love the history and comfort and service but I also come here and have for many many years because the food is exceptional too. this hotel has a two formal restaurant and a bar lounge that also serves food and it’s great for a special occasion but equally great for lunch in the lounge or conservatory. i like the atmosphere, it’s relaxed but still special. The staff are always exceptionally polite and respectful and helpful. I’ve been coming here since around 1990 and that’s never changed. The food has always been great and freshly cooked to order. i can’t say this enough. We stayed overnight this time and the room was lovely and reasonable. it was in the main house. Very clean, comfortable bed, quiet, all you need including water which I like. The breakfast was also great which didn’t surprise me. The price was included for breakfast making it even better value. a great hotel.

it’s hard to think of anything at all. The TV has only a few channels which is all I can mention here. but it’s such a minor thing.

Location was beautiful, staff were extremely helpful. Plenty of on-site parking despite a busy event. Would return!

Bathroom could have been cleaner (quite a few hairs and a used cotton bud in there upon arrival) but nothing that spoilt the lovely room. Bed was large, but two singles pushed together and you could feel the seams down the middle - a thick mattress topper would help here. Breakfast was just ok, plenty of options, but we opted to eat elsewhere on day two.
