York House Hotel

Room was very big, lovely 4 poster bed with hard matteress and comfy sleeper couch. Nice being able to watch Netflix or Prime video on the tv, if we wanted to sign in with our own passwords (just don't forget to sign out once finished). Shower was massive (could probably fit 3-4 people in it) and have different shower setting for an ideal shower, rest of bathroom was very spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Only one window was able to open, there rest seemed to be painted shut (there was a fan in the room, but no aircon). No option for breakfast, only dinner at the adjoining restaurant.

From the moment I entered the building, I was greeted and made welcome. Without asking I was told that a higher-grade room was available if I wanted it without extra charge which was unexpected. I was told that the kitchen is closed at the hotel so no evening meals or breakfast would be able to be served but I was told of a selection of restaurants available within a 5min walk. After leaving my bags in my room I took a short walk and found a fantastic Italian restaurant 2 mins away. The food was amazing and well worth venturing out. In the morning I asked if it was possible to leave my car in the hotel car park for 3hrs longer than my check-out time and was told it was not a problem and not to worry about the charges normally made to the public for parking during the day. Even when I returned to my car to leave I was greeted from within the Hotel through the window waving goodbye with a smile. I have stayed in many, many hotels in my time but even though the building looks and feels tired and there is no kitchen/restaurant I can't say how much of a positive difference the staff made to my stay. I even bumped into housekeeping in the corridor and even she was so polite and smiling. I will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

The building does feel tired and in need of refurbishment. The opportunity to have breakfast would also have been a plus but as I said previously the people who work here make up for that.

Location perfect as we were attending a show at the Theatre nearby. Hotel room although basic was clean and comfortable but good value for money. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Especially the man on reception. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name. He was very courteous and I would like to say how good he was at his job.

Just disappointed that breakfast wasn’t available at the hotel, we weren’t aware of that fact until we checked in on the day. Maybe I’d misread the information given online regarding breakfast being available in the restaurant.

The room was up on the second floor, access was by stairs or the lift which was quick and clean. The room itself was very large with a big bed and fourposter surround, good tv and facilities. The only drawback was the size of the room was offset by the size of the toilet, shower, sink area which was small if not very compact. The shower itself was great to use and the water was hot each morning. I found the facilities and the room in general most pleasant to stay in.

My only thoughts were the fact that the toilet, shower and sink area were very compact indeed and if you were a large person you would have difficulty in sitting on the toilet as the sink got in the way.

The room was so much bigger than I imagined. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the room was immaculately clean.

Being on such a busy road it was very noisy but I didn't mind too much. As it was sooo hot, air conditioning would be good but they gave a fan to help but I couldn't keep it on all night as it was a little noisy so I became very hot again. Also no restaurant open next door was hard to know where to eat without recommendations or information.

Great location friendly staff and although car park is private no fee as hotel covers cost.Room was clean and spacious although bathroom was tiny it was immaculate,would stay again.

We thought breakfast was included but was told on arrival they no longer offer breakfast was a shame but as the guy on reception was very polite and professional about how he explained the reason we fully understood and there's plenty of cafes etc all within walking distance we were happy.

Lovely four-poster double bed. Was very comfortable, too. I had requested an early check-in, which they managed to accommodate, and we made it to the function in time. All staff that we met were very nice.

The second double bed was a sofa bed. Which was a little bit hard. Breakfast wasn't available, which the hotel did mention to us in their email. But, on the Booking.com website, it states otherwise and also gives times. Which is incorrect.

The room was well appointed with plenty of space for me to move around and relax during my stay, the sofa was very welcome and the addition of a table in front of the sofa very useful addition since my last stay there. The view as as per last time very good and I had a most enjoyable time at the hotel.

The only thing was as before the bathroom/shower was on the compact size and a larger person would have difficulty using it, personally I don't think anything can be done about this but its worth bearing in mind when booking.

I liked the 4 post bed, the space of the room, iron, space for breakfast\morning coffee, sitting area, had a TV Loved the service from the managers directly and staff, all night and morning staff they were all on point to help us and very responsive,they also allowed us to stay in the lounge even though they didn't have to

Nothing, everything was impeccable

A Fabulous, spacious room with great facilities and a good view, the bathroom was exceptional. Furnished to a very high degree. Loved the king size 4 poster bed, and plush carpet in the bedroom. Blinds as well as curtains helped us to keep the room cosy and dark, much to our liking. A parking space allocated per room is a great bonus. The hosts were very apologetic about the lack of a breakfast, due to staff shortages and Covid, but we knew when we booked, but booked none the less, and the price of the room only was great value. The location is great for the rail station, which is how we travelled a previous time and stayed here; and being located on the city periphery, is good for the shops, drinking and ding. Perfect for our purpose of meeting family who live here.

Although the room was great; because it was a corner room with 4 windows, it was a little chilly, but an extra fleecy blanket for the bed helped. The bathroom radiator/towel rail was not very effective, but we survived. But, it is December!
