Heath Cottage Hotel

Handy for the motorway but without street noise. Friendly staff. Decent food. Room was spacious and well-equipped. Decent sized en suite. Comfortable and quiet. Good Wi-Fi. Parking was excellent.

As tends to happen in most hotels I’ve stayed at, the television wasn’t brilliant, especially for people like me who are hearing impaired. I just don’t like wall-mounted televisions as they are usually far too far away and too high on the wall. Plus the noise inevitably carries through into the next room no matter how quiet you think you’re being. But that was really only a minor inconvenience for me as I had plenty to read with me.

Very nice, Private cottage-style room in an annex but road noise is loud throughout the night despite being well away from the road. There was no hot food available when we stayed but we understand there is a chef starting soon. the reception staff was pleasant and helpful, and there is plenty of off-road parking.

Road noise during the night. and my personal pet hate the toilet was squeezed in between a wall and the bath.

The room was located in the perfect setting. When we arrived we were told what room we were booked into, it was a room upstairs (I failed to request a room on the ground floor when we booked on account of my bad knees and hip)I was discussing with my partner that I had forgotten to request a ground floor room. The lady at the front desk was so lovely, polite and accommodating, on discovering my plight she offered us another room but on the ground floor, without any moaning or fuss. Thank you so much for being so accommodating at very short notice. The room was lovely just right for our needs, its private, cosy and it felt like you had the key to your own cottage also you do not disturb any other guests when you are coming and going because of the way the building is designed. All the staff were friendly and polite and no request was too much trouble. We liked it so much that we have booked again in the next two weeks.

My only complaint is there was not a choice between having a hot or continental breakfast if you wanted one.

It was very hot in the room and the window only opened a tad.In hindsight I should have asked for a fan(don't know if they had any)but the reception was closed(it was late to be fair)In the morning they where people smoking outside and the smoke was coming through the small window opening.Was looking forward to a hearty cooked breakfast but only continental available,but it was more than adequate. Minor things really and it wouldn't stop us staying again.

Excellent, friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Staff were quick to offer a change of room when we had difficulties trying to regulate shower - much appreciated. I would happily stay here again.

On arrival told restaurant closed Saturday night & only continental breakfast Monday morning due to not having chef. Would have preferred to have been contacted prior to stay and given option whether to change/cancel booking. Continental breakfast poor - toast, cereal, yoghurt + cold prepackaged cheap croissant. Would expect warm pastries, cold meats & cheese. Tea trays in room poor - one small bottle of water, one pack of 2 biscuits to share between 2 people.

This guest house was recommended via reviews it was wonderful. Lovely clean spacious , easy parking with ground floor access to restaurant and bar. Breakfast served from 7.30 with a light continental or fried option. Staff very friendly and helpful during the stay . Bedroom very comfortably and shower excellent.

Room was clean and tidy, bed comfortable and room facilities adequate for a one night stay. Surrounding area was quiet at night and ample spacious parking. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. A good breakfast and a choice depending on preference. Altogether a very pleasant stay and would happily book again in the future.

We were satisfied with our booking and the price paid which was one of the lower priced offered as we were only requiring a one night stay and sleep as we were out most off the time since our arrival, however I would happily pay an increased rate for other rooms if we had to stay longer or in the future.

The room was comfy and clean with plenty of space. Check-in was easy enough in spite of the fact that I arrived after the on-site staff had finished for the day. Location was perfect for my meeting in Wakefield.

The breakfast was a little lacklustre but this may have been because I came down towards the end of the breakfast session. The free WiFi was also a little difficult to connect to in the room I was in.

I like to have the option of a cooked breakfast… There were days when it was a continental buffet but no cooked breakfast.

The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was very nice (such a relief to our sore backs after staying in so many places with overly soft, unsupportive mattresses!), the bathroom had great fixtures and all the toiletries needed for a nice luxurious bath or shower. There is a nice friendly little bar and a nice garden spot where we could enjoy our drink outside. So nice to have a delicious hot breakfast in the morning in the nice airy dining room.

Just bad luck - the chef was out with COVID so we got a takeaway that ended up not being very good. But our full English breakfast at the Heath Cottage was delicious and if we end up back there again, I expect dinner will be just as good.
