it was old & quirky, food was excellent, Staff were superb and very helpful. The place had a relaxed and hip vibe.

The “SMELL” of sewerage in a particular old part of the reception and bar. It was explained to us that it was due to old drainage. But I am afraid that answer isn’t good enough. The smell was totally over powering at particular times of the night. We watched a number of people move their tables because of the smell! Please Please sort this out… it was the only complaint we had if the Oatlands Chaser. we spoke with other customers and all mentioned the Smell! I am afraid you may have to spend some money to sort this out but you must. e losing an awful lot of “return” customers as a result of this issue. Sort it out please.. we will stop again but will not be very happy if the management have not sorted this out when we come back!!! Cheers

A well equipped room with everything you need for a one night stay. Very helpful and friendly staff . Excellent breakfast included in the price we paid which was well cooked and very good quality. Plenty of easy car parking at no extra charge . Nice , walk in shower. Very good value for money. We also had a good lunch. Much better than your average pub food. As a nightcap I had an excellent Expresso Martini. All in all I nearly gave this property a 10 but see below.

Our room was a little small and a strange shape which we think was attributable to the old building. Fine for one person but slightly cramped for 2. Can't complain at that price but it seems to be pot luck as to what size room you get, though . I booked 2 rooms and the others in our party had a much bigger and better room. I would definitely stay here again if I could guarantee that room , or similar !

The hotel was lovely, room was lovely and clean, very accessible and bathroom a wet room also and spacious. I would definitely recommend staying here, food is very lovely also and the staff were all really helpful regarding informing us what food was gluten free and in the morning they also had gluten free bread to go along with poached eggs too. We have already tried to stay here again but unfortunately it's during their renovation period.

The only issue we had was the pull out sofa bed was a little uncomfortable for my son as the bar was digging in, and the pillows a little soft but that is personal opinion, room very clean could maybe be a little brighter main light.

The location was lovely. All the staff we had dealings with were top notch. We had dinner and breakfast and everything was delicious. For what we paid for breakfast the quality was extremely good. The room was really big. Huge bed.

So I don't want this to reflect on the staff or the pub at all but the rooms were really worn. The sofa bed was a tad dangerous for kids and my daughter scratched her leg on the exposed metal. They rooms need updating badly. There was a fan right outside out window which we think was for the toilets which was super loud but thankfully once the pub shut this turned off. Even with these things it ticked the boxes.

The inn had such a wonderful atmosphere like you were transported back to a different time.. I actually felt privileged to be able to stay somewhere that was built in 1538. Couldn't help but imagine all the people that have stayed here over the year's.. It was so peaceful and we all felt so at home here.. The staff could not have done anymore to make our stay any better.. A truly beautiful place.. Thank you Karl for letting us in we arrived very late and sorting us out..😊 The food was really good l really enjoyed every meal.. Thank you.. Compliments to the chef 👌 The hotel is close to all transport links and so handy if you want visit areas of interest.. The beds were so comfortable and the pillow was just perfect for me.. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked for 5 nights next July ..

There was not one thing l didn't like..

Location perfect to Hampton Court palace 15 mins by car. Very pleasant and friendly staff happy to help at all times. Delicious food served from a good and select choice of menu. Ate here on both nights of our stay as the food was so good. Lovely choice of breakfast options both choices made were delicious. Super comfortable beds with soft white linen and towels. Tea and coffee provided in room with kettle and milk. Excellent serving hours for breakfast and dinner , well beyond other hotels we’ve stayed at and late check out at noon seems standard which is also a generous gesture.

We stayed on the 1st floor in Room 103 and it was extremely hot although a fan was provided but did little as it was so very warm and the secondary glazed windows couldn’t be opened very far. Our friends had Room 112 a family room which was much cooler . Had to ask for our plates to be cleared on 3 occasions out of 4 between courses arriving , a small criticism that’s easily addressed as the staff were so friendly but could take this onboard.

We stayed for three nights and ate in the restaurant each night. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a very good en-suite. Our welcome when we arrived was warm and friendly and this was consistent with all the staff throughout our stay. The hotel was a bit tired in a few areas, which we didn't mind, but as a major refurbishment is happening in September it will be even better. There were good choices from the menu and we enjoyed our dinners each night. We will stay again if in the area

Nothing we didn't like

Food was exeptional throughout. Lots of choice in the evening and the breakfast was superb every morning . The staff were very helpful and polite during my stay and nothing was too much trouble .

Personally i found the desk and chair very hard to work at , but that is a basic thing and may not apply to everyone . The Shower tray was extremely slippery and could do with some anti slip applied . Also i found that the bathroom door would be better fitted the other way round , as even a small person like myself , had a struggle to squeeze around the door to get into the bathroom .

The parking staff, ambience, meal, breakfast were excellent. The staff friendly, food delicious and room very comfortable except for the outlook/ noise which I if I have commented next.

For the cost I thought it might have been a slightly larger room, but it was comfortable. Unfortunately being a hot day we had a room fan and could open windows but there were double secondary glass windows, and bars for safety .There was no view except over the roof and kitchen air ventilation extractor fans which were very noisy until nearly mid night.

Nice decor, friendly and helpful staff throughout. Heated bathroom mirrors a big plus. Food was great (Sunday lunch, dinner and breakfast), lots of free parking and outdoor seating. Comfy beds. Good location for Thorpe Park. Absolute bargain for the price paid.

Only downside was the exceptionally hot weather up to 29C meaning the rooms were hot and stuffy. Window openings were restricted (health and safety strikes again). There was a fan in the room but not very powerful. Missed air con but appreciate that's tricky to install and expensive in such an old building.
