The Fairhaven Hotel

The excellent reception staff were always friendly and helpful. The location so close to beach, harbour and town suited our needs fully. The 2 meals we had at the Indian run restaurant were well presented and very flavoursome. We appreciated an amazing view although the window was small. Our room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The lift was a necessity.

The decor was generally dark and in corridors needed a fresh coat of paint. Our ensuite was disappointing in numerous ways. The door didn't close The light switch was not near the bathroom and activated bright light in the main bedroom thus disturbing the other occupant. Although we had 2 lots of fresh towels the ledges were not cleaned especially above the sink. The hooks for the towel were on the door jamb and totally unworkable. The soap holder on shower was fragile so using it became a delicate art. The bathroom was not properly cleaned at all. The tea shelf was not cleaned while we were there leaving tea stains. IT WAS A CHORE WALKING TO THE SISTER HOTEL FOR BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING AS ONLY THE EXPENSIVE INDIAN MENU WAS AVAILABLE IN FAITHAVEN.

The location was perfect, right on the sea front and easy to find. Breakfast was optional along with dinner, I didn't eat dinner there (def want to next time) but breakfast was lovely, I had avocado, spinach, & poached egg one day, then next day was chatting to lovely lady at reception and she advised the English Breakfast to keep me going on my 5 an half hr journey home - that was superb! The lovely touch was she even offered to have my left over boxed up if I'd like to take with me in the train, but I had demolished most of it so didn't need to - however a lovely gesture! Would def come back again!

There wasn't anything negative... I think moving forward a suggestion would be to maybe get WiFi available & perhaps a laminated leaflet with the basics on like meal times, what to do when run out of toilet roll, how to operate main doors etc. For 1st time travellers like myself. This was missed off for me but I asked when there anyway so didn't matter.

We like the location as its a room with sea view. And right at the beach front. The room is clean, the bed and pillows are very comfortable. The staff was very kind to let us checked in at 12nn instead of 4pm, and secured our bags while we wait to check in.

The room needs updating as it looks bit tired and old.,windows need cleaning and the toilet makes a loud noise when u flush. It's also noisy at night as the bar is just 1 floor up but we don't mind as we like the sea view.. It would be nice to update the furniture especially the chairs and table. And also the carpet.. We didn't book breakfast as the dining area doesn't look appealing..

Clean,modern, great views, very comfortable bed, lovely large shower which was hot and powerful. Large room and cupboard space. Definitely coming back!! Would love to know what the mattress was called ? Best night sleep ever in a hotel and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The hallways were a bit dated and the toilets on the landing were a bit grubby but it didn't take away from having a lovely room and are clearly in the process of doing it all up. The room service menu didn't have a number on it to ring and needed a mirror to do make up at the table. A cooked breakfast would of been nice but we like eating out anyway.

There has been lots of improvement based on comparison with the many stays at the hotel before the change of management. The change is immediately visible when entering the hotel and approaching the reception area, being brightly redecorated. The improvement continued on reaching our room, 351, with ample space for the two single beds and a big bathroom

The door closing device needs adjusting as I consider it to be dangerous, closing very quickly, a hazard to fingers, both old and young. The loss of the breakfast facility. The dining room was always lively and a great start to the day. Many friendships started at breakfast

Location right on sea front was fantastic. Very friendly , intelligent young staff. Help with case upstairs on arrival ( there was a lift too ) . Rooms plainly decorated but very comfortable . Was told that other rooms have been refurbished to a higher standard but the hotel is still a work in progress. Room Extremely clean with good sized shower in en suite. Simple and healthy buffet breakfast offered in reception lounge / bar area . outside seating facing sea. Website needs to be updated to state that breakfast is offered though as was not clear.

Was happy with all.

Very helpful staff (with a store for luggage), ideal location (close enough to let children walk barefoot to the beach- carefully!), bar and coffee available right in reception, we did not try the breakfast or restaurant. All very relaxed.

The initial impression approaching from the station was a building site DO NOT WORRY! There is refurbishment going on, but it was all well out of our way- unless that was what set off the fire alarm,

The rooms were excellent, clean with all mod cons, the hotel is going through a refit, this did not affect our visit. the staff were excellent and eager to help. we did not have the meal deal for breakfast so cannot comment. We will be coming back.

We did come back from a function and found the lobby in darkness, as we could not find any light switches we ended up it sitting in darkness. Would have been nice if the lights were on sensors. nothing else that we did not like.

I enjoyed my short stay so much I extended it by a day. Although being tastefully renovated, it’s the staff who really make this place. The manager strikes a perfect balance of being friendly whilst keeping professional distance and clearly puts his heart and soul into the smooth running of the hotel. The staff are all friendly and more importantly competent, easily and efficiently responding to any requests. Get in quick I say as prices won’t stay this low for very long if they keep this level of service up! A*

What a friendly welcoming hotel. Very clean and comfortable room which had a view of the sea. I arrived early however my room was ready which was great. If it hadn’t they were happy to store my luggage until check in time. Breakfast was amazing and there were plenty of interesting choices.

The only thing for me was instant coffee ,yuck but there is proper coffee downstairs easily available. A cafetière maybe would add a better touch .
