Marwell Hotel - A Bespoke Hotel

Average experience made 10 times better by the night porter - Tom. Would now definitely stay again.

Facilities very dated, could do with a refresher.

your staff!!! special shout outs to Gabby and Elliott who were exceptionally kind and relational.

the only (and I mean only) thing I would suggest would be a bit of carpet and upholstery cleaning in the bar and dining room.

The staff are absolutely excellent. Super friendly and efficient. Special raise fir the breakfast server. On her own when one staff member wasn't there, she smiled all the time and served amazingly. Great location fir the Zoo and Peppa Pig plus Romsey and NTs. Loads of car larking. Nice design of accommodation. Great fir families with under 10s. Restaurant OK for variety and quality. . Food good enough. Very quiet.

The hotel is a bit tired and needs a paint. Our room smelled as if someone had smoked in it but staff immediately moved us to another room. However we had booked a room so called Superior with a double and a single bed. Our designated room however was a King bed. Not a big deal but not what was booked. I guess it was because of the large number of families with young children. Oh. There was no key lock on the door to the outside of our room. It had been removed and only a minimalist bolt was on the inside. Either the hotel is short of maintenance staff or no one has noticed that the lock is not in the door.

the hotel is opposite the actual Zoo, so prime location! had a family room that was on the second floor with bunk beds! used the swimming pool, it was great & given towels too. breakfast had a good choice.

staff didn’t explain we couldn’t order dinner till 6, a wedding was on at the venue too, we ordered our dinner at 5.10 but couldnt have it till after 6! we had our 3 yr old Grandson with us who couldnt wait till then &fell asleep so didnt actually eat! we got a refund for him!!! cant believe theres not food available at all times! also our shower head was poor, needs renewing.

The hotel was very nice staff were friendly and the lobby, exterior, bar, and dining room were pleasant. When it opened it would have been a lovely hotel. Rooms were very clean and bed was as comfortable as at home. would definitely stay again.

The room was very clean and tidy but was starting to look a bit tired. Carpet was very worn, TV aerial wire had come out so i had to fix it myself, shower hose leaked and the sink was partially blocked as the water took ages to drain. Having said this none of these affected our stay and we still enjoyed it. We didn't realise there was an extra charge £20 for 2 dogs per night until after we had booked the room couldn't see why? Lastly my 15 yr old son had to sleep in a bunk bed and at 5'10" was a bit tight, however our bed was very comfortable

Swimming pool was lovely, staff were very friendly and breakfast was very enjoyable..

Bedroon was extremely hot to hot to sleep comfortably.. One bath towel was filthy..

I loved how peaceful this hotel is. the location is just stunning all the way around and the room we were in was mostly away from others - until the final night when we had to deal with a lot of children in our block where our room was. the staff were friendly, kind and accommodating - very accommodating. I can’t wait to come back. I love how the rooms each have a door to the outside, which is amazing.

Main thing we didn’t like is the lack of choice in the food menu for breakfast and dinner. we didn’t dine in the restaurant as the food wasn’t anything we could eat at all so the first night we went hungry due to them not serving sandwiches after 5pm which we weren’t aware of until we tried getting food in the lounge. a menu of normal food would be great for us who don’t like posh, weird food. I didn’t particularly like that as a couple on our wedding anniversary ended up with 3 different families surrounding our room. they were very loud. there was a crack in the toilet seat in our room too which left me with a deep cut and bruise on my bum cheek.

Receptionist - fantastic and so patient with my 5yr old. He spoke to her like they had known each other forever. Receptionist was so informative, patient and professional. My son gave her a big hug. I wish we had her name. The pool was lovely and such a nice size. Changing rooms (no cubicles) but standard and you can get a locker for belongings. Food both dinner and breakfast was fantastic...it was nice to order breakfast from a menu as well as an option for cereals etc. The room was more than we expected. So big and spacey and the beds were probably the best we had slept on. We are definitely coming back. It's a bonus as it is less than 30 second walk to Marwell Zoo!!

Location and nestling into the woods was lovely, and the large room and wraparound walkways were fab. The evening dinner and breakfast were fantastic quality and presentation and absolutely delicious! Staff were friendly for the most part.

Pool was closed, which was disappointing, and one of the young receptionists could have had a little more warmth, and a friendly smile wouldn't have gone a miss. Dinner orders were slow to arrive, as was the bottle of wine ordered and needed to be flagged up again for it to eventually arrive very warm that didn't cool on ice after a significant amount of time. However, this was rectified and replaced compliments of the house, so I'm not complaining 😁

Breakfast food quality was excellent. Staff were nice.

No phone in the room if you wanted to speak to reception . No paperwork in room, e.g. menus, opening times of pool or restaurant. In hotel for 2 nights for festival of speed 2023 which got cancelled so had to cancel second night in hotel. I was told that as I booked hotel room via booking.com I only had half money back for second night. If I had booked with hotel directly, I would have had all money back for seond night.
