Sonder at McKinley

great downtown place to stay spacious apartment 1-bed, kitchen was well stocked with necessary utensils & extra dishwasher, laundry & cleaning items. the self-guided checkin was a breeze & easy to use. I had been concerned about checking in as there were many complaints about it. but I downloaded the Sonder app & used the chat feature to get information from Sonder & it worked really well.

there was a good amount of walking from the parking space (level 7) to our unit on the 13 floor - so if walking is an issue this place isn’t for you.

Good location near ASU (sending son college) Clean and comfortable Loved the gym (well equipped with free weights, smith machine, pulley etc)

Minor points - shower water pressure is low - parking on 7th floor (going in circles 6x just to get in/out) - no frying pan to use stove (thankfully there’s microwave for frozen meals)

It was a great room with a decent view and a nice balcony. With a full-sized refrigerator and oven/range, you're able to cook some of your own meals, and enjoy them on the balcony in the evening with a cool breeze (we were there in March). There are activities in the building and many other within walking distance. The metro train runs right in front on the building.

The parking spot was on a different floor than the apartment, but this was a minor inconvenience (mostly on the first and last day if you have a lot of stuff).

The room was perfect. It was very comfortable for three days. We had a great view. It was a very livable space. Great layout. High ceilings and huge windows provided a very spacious feel. High quality appliances, comfy furniture and everything was clean. We even used the washer in the room which was so convenient. The neighborhood was fun to explore. Very walkable.

The building itself was a little weird. One day someone dropped a coffee on the floor and it was many hours before someone cleaned it up. Also in the elevator, there was something gross on the floor that smelled really bad. And again it took a long time until someone cleaned it up. But our room was perfect and clean.

Sonder at McKinley is a wonderful place to stay. Key fobs and the garage transponder can be easily retrieved from the key locker. The access to the building and to elevators with the key fobs is truly simple. The apartment is clean and full of amenities. The WiFi network works perfectly, without any problems. Thanks to the location of the building, the distance to the downtown is really convenient. I sincerely recommend staying at Sonder at McKinley.

the concept is great

the bed was a bit hard for my taste. we had an issue with the water in the shower the first night, it just wouldn’t heat the water. same thing with the AC, it just would not reach a cold enough temperature. the second night was better because we left the AC on during the day. never understood why the water didn’t work one night but the next it did perfectly. some areas of the building are dirty or damaged already, like the rugs and walls of hallways. I think the price per night is higher than it should.

Cute room with a nice view. Supplied dishwasher and laundry soap. The bed was amazing! Pool and lounge were really comfortable and everyone was super friendly.

The baseboards were sticky and collected dust. Made the room look really gross and there was no access to filtered water. There was a really nice fridge but no water source aside from tap water.

Nice location, modern property, clean, appliances all new, well maintained, washer dryer was a plus. Large bathroom, clean and well maintained for the most part. Stay was very comfortable. I would definitely stay again at a Sonder.

Shower drain was not clean

Door codes made it very convenient for the whole family to enter/exit. No keys/cards to lose.

Finding car lockbox, and then finding code for returning responder. Needed to call after trying to chat within app, and going through all of the emails.

the property was clean , nice and close to where we wanted to be

it is a nice unit. but if you are traveling with kids and or other couples. there is only one tv in the unit in the main room. and the WiFi doesn’t really hold up. you have to stream from your own device to use the tv and it tends to use up most of the WiFi to do so. for the price you pay they could definitely do a bit of an upgrade.
