Location & price worked for what we were looking for. We stayed 6 nights. Walking distance from the sights & events. Staff surprised us with a really nice card wishing us 35th Anniversary. Morning coffee & donuts in the lobby were really good. Parking was $15 a night compared to higher fees elsewhere. Great retro vibe!

Could use black out curtains to cut down on some of the light coming in at night.

Our experience at The Thunderbird inn this week was exceptional! Special shout out to Wren & Leslie! We traveled with a child that had a middle of the night upset stomach situation, and the staff, mainly Leslie and custodial staff were so kind, considerate and helpful coming to our aid at 6am. Check in was easy and pleasant, freindly smiling faces. We asked for local advise & suggestions and a detailed response was cheerfully given. The daily popcorn, coffee, and fun donuts were such a wonderful touch, AND they were actually super delicious with strong coffee. The Charm of the Thunderbird was so adorable and picturesque, with every detail around the hotel carefully thought out. Cleanliness was great! The room was clean and cozy. Parking was easy with a 5 min walk to the main shopping street and 15 min walk to the Riverside district. Highly recommend!! 10/10

Might be too noisy for light sleepers

The decor was super cute with some nice touches of retro treats in our room. Staff were very friendly and the check in/check out process was easy. Krispy Kreme donuts and popcorn available in the lobby as well as coffee was also very much enjoyed. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable, coffee in the room as well as a mini fridge. The location was great for the City Market, River St and Forsyth Park only a 20 minute walk away.

It is on a busyish road with a tour bus as well as other buses routed regularly so the noise level from that was a bit high. There also aren't any blackout curtains, just regular flip blinds so I would recommend bringing ear plugs and a sleep mask if those things bother you.

We were looking for a reasonably-priced hotel for a two-week stay in Historic Savannah over the winter holidays. We were also traveling with a small dog and did not want to pay extreme pet fees. Many hotels raise their room fees during this period and charge as much as $50 per night for a pet. Thunderbird was extremely reasonable -- charged only $50 for our pet for the entire 2-week stay and only $15 per night for a reserved parking space. We loved the 60s styling of the hotel -- free donuts and popcorn -- it's eco-friendly policies (real drinking glasses, pastry plates and ceramic coffee mugs). Bed was extremely comfortable. The 24 hour staff was excellent, everyone was so helpful. And the hotel was surprisingly quiet considering it's on major roadways. Many Downtown attractions were within walking distance.

Since the building is concrete, it was difficult to get a good WIFI connection in our room.

The retro theme. Nice touches like the outside "oldies" music, RC Cola and moon pie, and the period replica phone. The "letterman" jacket employee uniforms were also a nice touch. The room was clean, updated. Hot shower did not disappoint. An extra blanket was given to us since the room thermostat kept returning to default setting. The fresh doughnuts were great for breakfast.

There was a drip on the sink faucet. The AC unit worked, but it would default to the "68 degree f." setting which was cool for December. The room door handle was a little loose, so it was a little hard to open from the outside. It just needed to be tightened.

The Thunderbird is great

I was surprised that the charge for my dog was $50.00, expected $25.00 and did not expect to have to pay $15.00 to park in their parking lot.

First trip to Savannah for my wife and I. We really enjoyed our 3 day stay and our amazingly comfortable King bed, the snacks, ie. popcorn, moon pies and RC's and variety of zero calorie donuts (haha) The ocation is good and easy to walk to many historic squares, restaurants & bars less than a 1/2 mile away. Cleaning staff very friendly and helpful to us.

On our third night stay, we were awoken by loud hooting and hollering motel customers as they returned to their rooms at 1:45 am. Unfortunately, some people act like fools when they drink too much. 😤🥱

Room was spacious and overall was clean. Loved the bright decor and little touches like the roller cola and retro telephone, and the 60s music playing outside. It was our first time staying at a motel and it felt like being in a movie! Friendly staff, and we loved the popcorn, donuts and free coffee/tea etc for breakfast. Great to have parking available outside the rooms too, and very reasonable for the cost for 24 hours. Excellent location for exploring Savannah - we walked with our 6 year old and 4 year old from the motel all the way to the riverside, and felt safe enough on the streets to walk back again in the dark. We could also have easily got the free blue dot bus though, or a taxi/Uber.

Overall the room seemed clean, but the overflow in the sink was dirty and needed cleaning, and our socks were dirty from the floor. Also, one of the bedspreads was quite threadbare and the pillows were pretty lumpy! The standing lamp was also a little rusty at the base, but fitted with the retro chic vibe so we didn’t make a complaint. One thing we hadn’t considered though was how noisy the room would be, especially in the early hours from the road/bridge traffic - there were some very loud trucks and buses honking horns which woke us and our children up at 4am, but fortunately we all managed to get back to sleep!

The Inn was so neat! We were greeted by friendly staff that were very accommodating. The Inn’s theme was very unique. Lots of fun photo opportunities. The attention to detail in every aspect of the deco was remarkable. Moon pies and RC colas in the room for us was a sweet surprise. Another standout feature was the location. Convenient access to all the popular locations. We walked each day to our destinations. Our stay at this fun themed hotel was nothing short of fantastic. The friendly staff, perfect location, and affordable pricing made it an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for a unique and enjoyable stay, I highly recommend this hotel. You won’t be disappointed!

The room door would not open on the first and second try and needed a small adjustment.

The hotel is retro and older compared to a lot of others, but having stayed at other higher-end hotels in Savannah, the T-Bird Inn's bed was THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed of any hotel we've stayed at. The hotel room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom is small, but at least the sink/vanity was separate providing ample room to spread out our toiletries. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to stay here again next month when we're passing through Savannah again.

The only drawbacks to the room itself was that there are no blackout shades - the blinds don't do much to keep the light out even at night. We'll remember to bring our blindfolds next time! The other thing is that it's on the road across from the bus depot and there is a lot of road noise that can be heard in the room - we had earplugs so that did the trick.
